Tummy Tuck

MozzchopsThirty · 30/10/2020 15:53

So I have an opportunity to have a tummy tuck

I'm 45, had 3 children, and a very traumatic 3rd delivery requiring 2 surgeries and left me with severe PTSD

I had a consultation with a surgeon I had another procedure with about the tummy tuck, but he was concerned I wouldn't cope with it mentally

But even though I'm a size10-12 and slim, I always have a belly and an overhang and it really bothers me. I train, fast, diet etc and although I have good boobs, legs & bum this is one area that doesn't change.
I think I'd have to starve myself forever for a slightly less baggy belly

So I'm just asking for opinions, would you? Have you? What are others experiences of tummy tuck?

@workshy44 in the meantime can you link to the Tracy Anderson workout
There are so many on line and some of them look questionable to say the least

@MozzchopsThirty I'm day 15 today and doing well - touch wood - thanks for asking!

I improve more each day tbh. My belly button is leaking and a bit grim but this is totally normal. I use a wound spray, silver gauze and iodine and also just leave it be. It's a common thing - takes a while to heal. My incision is all taped up and stays that way for 12 weeks. You leave on the tapes until they fall off and then you apply again.

Here's a pic. It's not very good but you'll get the gist

I'm 11 stone something in the first pic believe it or not - so although no lightweight, I'm not particularly overweight - just shows how much weight I carried on my front. I'm quite swollen in the second pic - taken at about day 7 - but you can see a difference I hope!

I had a full abdominoplasty after my twins 12 years ago, I was 9st and had a size 16 waist measurement, I had my muscles sewn back together all the way up to under my boobs, best thing I ever did, it was over £9k then.

My scar is invisible now and I wear bikinis, I went to my brothers wedding two weeks afterwards. It's similar in terms of a C section recovery.

MozzchopsThirty · 01/11/2020 19:03

Wow @FelicityFlamingo the transformation is amazing!!

You must be so pleased after only 15 days too

Amazing SmileSmile

@MissSmiley so you were pretty small at 9st??
Do you have any before & after pics?

OP posts:
MissSmiley · 01/11/2020 19:10

@MozzchopsThirty I don't have any pics unfortunately but mine was mainly to do with getting my muscles sorted as I was having big problems with my left hip, my GP tried to get my referred on the nhs but I don't deny I had a big lump of spare skin which was purely from having the twins, I was bigger round my tummy than I am tall when I was pregnant with them, I don't regret it for a minute and my tummy is still completely flat and muscles are firm 12 years later, I had it done when I was 35, I'm 48 now

MozzchopsThirty · 01/11/2020 19:17

Oh wow 😱 that's the kind of story I need
I am very slim, but this skin and fat on my abdomen is just so tough
Unless I starved and drank no alcohol for the rest of my life I'm ne er going to get what I want

MissSmiley · 01/11/2020 20:01

@MozzchopsThirty sounds like me, it was never going anywhere without surgery, most women who have TT are in their fifties and overweight anyway, you would be guaranteed an amazing result with your size

MissSmiley · 01/11/2020 20:03

@MozzchopsThirty when they did mine the surgeon commented on how there was no extra fat, just skin from being stretched due to pregnancy... I even had another surprise pregnancy (baby number 5, natural conception after 9 rounds of ivf and my tummy survived and still looks great now and I'm 48!!!)

MozzchopsThirty · 01/11/2020 20:41

Omg again!!!!! You had another pregnancy
I know that's not gonna happen for me!

I'll post a pic in the morning so you can see.
I'm not under any illusion that to some people my overhang is nothing
But I've always been slim and it really bothers me

Hi
It is vimeo.com/groups/282875/videos/94448722
48 minutes in. You need to watch it a few times as she goes very quickly through them.

It is incredible. I did reformer Pilates 5 times a week for a year and my stomach wasn't anywhere near as good after a month of doing her exercises

MozzchopsThirty · 02/11/2020 15:08

Thank you @workshy44 I'll take a look

MozzchopsThirty · 02/11/2020 15:10

Here are my pics of the overhang
I wonder if I could get away with a mini tuck??

MozzchopsThirty · 02/11/2020 15:10

A couple more

workshy44 · 02/11/2020 15:45

I think you will get a great result from her video. You don't really have loose skin, looks more like a muscle issue
You need to do it every day, a few weeks you should see a difference.
its a very different way of doing stomach work, your legs are flat on the ground and its all about brining the stomach in. . Saying that I haven't done it myself in ages but I found once I did it every day for 6 weeks my stomach was flat as a pancake for about 2 years afterwards without doing anything

BirdsandBeezz · 02/11/2020 15:49

I know someone who had it done after 4 big babies to her petite frame which left her with skin you could literally stretch out 15cm.
The evening of the operation she sent a photo and the results were gobsmacking. It has boosted her confidence and taken years off her. She rocks a bikini!

FelicityFlamingo · 02/11/2020 16:18

My surgeon - and others of his ilk - won't perform mini tummy tucks. The reason being is that they leave loose skin above the naval among other reasons. Put simply, it's not worth the trade off for the scar you're left with

MozzchopsThirty · 02/11/2020 16:49

@FelicityFlamingo he does have them on his profile on the website

I get where you're coming from though, I might look odd if all the fat was removed below the navel

Can you see how pronounced my shelf is??

OP posts:
FelicityFlamingo · 02/11/2020 20:49

Well... I can yes. But it looks absolutely fine to me. However it's all relative isn't it so if it bothers you, then it bothers you.

I'd definitely properly explore the mini vs full

MozzchopsThirty · 03/11/2020 06:31

I think I'm going to contact Iain Whittaker in Swansea for a consultation
I'm still undecided

How is your recovery @FelicityFlamingo I hope you're continuing to improve every day

I’ve had 3 pregnancies and lost 8 stone. I am going to be having a Fluer de Lys tummy tuck, so I’ll also have a vertical scar from just below the breasts down to the horizontal scar on the hips, so like an anchor. But I have a lot of loose skin. I’m looking forward to it.

Diadora30 · 03/11/2020 14:18

Just to add, I’m in the South West and will be going with Elena Prousskaia. Her results are amazing. Definitely do lots of research on the surgeon and that they’re on the relevant registers.

FelicityFlamingo · 03/11/2020 16:04

I'm day 18 today and continuing to make progress! Still very tight and sore in places - in fact, I dropped my surgeon a line as I was a bit concerned about the incision but he assured me it was perfectly normal and healing as he'd expect for this stage. This is the slight downside .. when you don't know what's normal and what isn't!

I'm still a bit tired so I make sure I have a nap each day but I can do all the housework more or less - I just can't change the beds as that involves lifting mattresses to tuck under! Apart from that - anything really. Been driving since day 7 so that's all fine too

I think key to recovery after major surgery is a decent diet (hollow laugh at that right now as I've eaten badly the past two days!! Generally i eat well though!) and I have a glass of kefir each morning along with some specific supplements and plenty of fluids throughout the day.

I'm still not wearing jeans or anything like that but with a foam pad, vest and binder, doubt I'd get them on 😀

FelicityFlamingo · 03/11/2020 16:06

Iain W is a good shout I hear. Just bear in mind he can be tricky to get hold of - I think your best bet is via his Instagram if he doesn't come back to you

The top surgeons from what I can see are

Iain
Rob Winterton
Fulvio (he was the one for me)
Amir at Bella Vou
