Right, sock it to me with your best exfoliators and hyaluronic products!

I've been using Clinique Clarifying Lotion 1.0 for ages, but I'm wondering whether I could improve on it.

I've fallen off the hyaluronic wagon and want to hear what goodies are out there. The last one I used was Sub Q Hylamide.

I've used The Ordinary but it hasn't set my heart a flutter.

P50 is a bit out of my price range!

I have the Hada Labo. It's a nice enough humectant, like any other HA containing serum.

I was reading last week that the jury is still out on whether topical HA actually does anything other than add a bit of extra moisture.

I've stopped going for the Ordinary/GOW/Inkey selling strategy of making you think you need 5 cheap serums all containing one ingredient when for £25 you can get one containing all the lot.

Exfoliation- an acid toner suitable for your skin. Glycolic for ageing. Salicylic for oily. Cheaper brands have exactly the same ingredients as Paula's Choice etc.

I was reading last week that the jury is still out on whether topical HA actually does anything other than add a bit of extra moisture.

I thought that was all it does, I didn't think it was supposed to do anything else?

My understanding is that traditional 'moisturisers' (as in creams) don't ever actually add moisture, they just act as a barrier to stop moisture being lost. And that HA, when applied to damp skin, actually helps to moisturise/hydrate the skin, and then you can use a moisturiser over the top to seal it in.

Which all makes sense to me as there are no wild claims, so that is what I do and it definitely seems to help my skin feel more hydrated.

Yes, that's what I mean, and so why I don't get all the hype surrounding it and the holy grail stuff. People talk about it (esp in the Nadine Baggott group over on FB and Insta) as though it's a facelift in a bottle.
As it's in every serum anyway I won't be rebuying once my ginormous HL runs out.

Yeah, I just find it works really well to hydrate my skin, which in turn gives me a nice glow and makes it look more youthful that way, and possibly does plump out fine lines a little bit, more so than when my skin is dry. But I don't think it has any long lasting anti ageing properties or anything.
