My boobs are in the right place!

I know there has been loads of threads on this, but I wanted to share my joy. The dogs don't quite get the level of excitement...!

I 'Boob or Busted' this weekend, and shot from a 36E to a 34HH (quite the shock, but post pregnancy so maybe not that surprising).

I was sceptical, but went with it and ordered a Freya Daisy Lace bra. It arrived today, perfect fit. Boobs are actually where they should be - I nearly took the postman's eye out. Poor bugger.

Total convert. Totally comfortable. Amazing.

(Sorry, just wanted to share my excitement!)

@StatisticallyChallenged

Can you link to the bra? May be a shape issue rather than size
This one www.brastop.com/products/flirtelle-swirl-balcony-bra-fern-green
StatisticallyChallenged · 28/10/2020 15:50

OK. From what I remember, when I tried Flirtelle they were on the snug side band wise. So it might be that in that brand you'd want a 34 but I suspect you might be a 32 in brands like Freya and Panache. Bras are just like jeans, they vary a lot between brands!

That's also a bra with quite tall cups - are your boobs relatively empty at the top half (bottom heavy boobs)? I'm wondering if you might be better with something that's more of a true balconette - although that's in the balconette section it's more of a balcony

Something like this might be a better shape (fantasie is the same company as Freya, I'd try the 32, maybe try the G and GG)

MarmaladeTeepee · 28/10/2020 16:01

@bejazzled I've had exactly the same problem, came out as 34K with BoB (currently wearing 36G). I think the band size is right but the cups were way too big with too much space at the top. I'm going to try 34H instead, can't really try different styles as they all seemed to be the same once you get past a G cup.

Bejazzled · 28/10/2020 16:02

Thank you SC - I will order these to try out.

That’s interesting MarmaladeTeepee - I think I’ll order 34 FF as well just to see the difference

An H to a K seems a big jump Marmalade - I'd maybe try some in between sizes too. 4 cups too big (if that's what the K was) would be massively loose everywhere not just on top.

There is still some variety in shapes, it's just harder to find (i'm a J(ish) myself)

williowrosenburg · 28/10/2020 16:58

Boob or bust send I was a 32E

Was very shocked, I have a range of bras from 32A to 34C (pregnancy and very old bras) I bought a few in 32E but the band was too tight and really the cups were too full.

Went through my bra drawer and the best fit was a 34c so stuck with that! Not sure how I managed to measure at 32E on the website!

Your bowels???

From 40E to this Shock

My boobs are in the right place!
StatisticallyChallenged · 28/10/2020 17:28

@williowrosenburg did you throughly scoop all your breast tissue up and in to the new cups? If I don't do this my bras seem as you describe size wise. They need a bit of woman-handling!

NiceGerbil · 28/10/2020 17:32

I did a different method years ago and went from a 34 d or something to a 30F or something. I was like, that's ridiculous my boobs aren't massive. But, as others have said the cup is in proportion to the back.

Imagine if women all wore the right size, we'd get nicer bras in the larger cup sizes which would be awesome!

Thanks Statistically, I'd forgotten about all the inbetween sizes HH JJ etc I think I'll order a selection and see how I get on.
PurpleMustang · 28/10/2020 18:43

Just reading this thread. I have heard of these before but never really looked at how they measured. Just seen there are 4 measurements! Will have to give this a go. Anything to help the back and shoulder pain. Currently wearing a 40JJ with an extender (as its getting old), bit scared what it might come out at

StatisticallyChallenged · 28/10/2020 18:46

Back and shoulder pain is often a sure sign of the band being too big

wizzywig · 28/10/2020 18:54

30hh? Woah! I was wearing 36d!!

StatisticallyChallenged · 28/10/2020 19:00

It's not as nuts as it sounds; 30HH is roughly designed for someone measuring 30 under, 42 over (very roughly). 36D is a 40 overbust so only 2" difference - but it will feel like a vastly different bra due to the change in band size, the proportions will be so different and you should feel far more supported, lifted...

BelsizeNameChange · 28/10/2020 19:10

It’s got me going from a 34B to a 28E, or 28F if I breathe in while measuring.

Sceptical... I wouldn’t be comfortable in a 32 never mind a 28.

StatisticallyChallenged · 28/10/2020 19:15

Why do you think you wouldn't be comfortable in a 32?

BelsizeNameChange · 30/10/2020 09:27

Sorry I just saw the question above. I’m already on the loosest hook on my 34’s for comfort.

StatisticallyChallenged · 30/10/2020 09:49

The difference between how a 34b and a 28e will fit is a bit like comparing apples to pears. In the 28 the cups will sit in a totalky different way, which in turn makes the band feel hugely different. Have you tried the backwards band test? Pop your bra on back to front and see how far away from your body you can pull the band. In a well fitting bra it should only be an inch or so.

I suspect what's happening is that you are effectively using band length to cope with too small cups so the band feels tighter than it is.

pinkpip100 · 30/10/2020 21:19

I've worn a 34C for years and using BoB measuring I'm coming out as 30FF. Could this be feasible? I always wear my bras on the tightest hook and the band definitely rides up, so I can just about understand the drop in band size, but the FF bit seems like a huge jump!!!

Lurkingforawhile · 30/10/2020 21:23

I always find I'm recommended to have a smaller band size but they are very tight around my ribs which I hate!

StatisticallyChallenged · 30/10/2020 22:55

Totally possible @pinkpip100. They're designed for the same overbust measurement but will fit differently.

pinkpip100 · 30/10/2020 23:42

Thanks @StatisticallyChallenged - I have just ordered x3 to try!

FeetZelet · 03/11/2020 16:52

After opening my M&S 40DD with extender bra yet again while wfh I have finally measured with BOB coming out at 34J. Can any veterans suggest a non-expensive online brand to try please? Back, shoulder & rib pain from current bras which I despise wearing and general weight issues really bringing me down.
