Has anyone had a skin tag removed privately?

It's at the very top of my leg. I've had it years and it's been slow growing however it's now starting catching on clothes and is getting sore (and ugly).

The doctor will put me on the waiting list however it's months long. She said that an option would be private.

Does anyone have any experience or idea of costs?

Tie bit of thread tightly around it and wait for it to drop off op.

FizzyPink · 19/10/2020 17:23

Yes the thread trick works well but it needs to be tight. And be prepared for it to turn black before it falls off.

I had one on my bum a while ago and it took a couple of weeks to go

Kayemm · 19/10/2020 18:13

How big were these? Mine is bigger than a pea. I'm sqeamish.

I used a cheapo kit from amazon and it was fantastic, much easier than tying a bit of cotton around it

Bizarre, disgusting and fascinating when it fell off too, and totally painless

Bettina500 · 19/10/2020 18:15

Have a look to see if anywhere near you treats them with electrolysis.
Be careful with the string method especially if it's a big one, it can be painful and once it's on you can't get it off

Kayemm · 19/10/2020 18:16

I've looked at kits in Boots and the maximum size is smaller than mine.

I bought a kit. It worked v well,

I've removed two with the thread trick. One was in a very sensitive area, but it worked just fine. I didn't feel a thing. I'd honestly just do that rather than pay for it to be removed. You tie the thread around it, it starts to change colour and eventually just drops off. It's pain free and easy - mine were about the size of yours from the sound of it. I've read online that there can be some light bleeding for some people though I didn't experience that myself.

unmarkedbythat · 19/10/2020 18:19

I tie mine off. One of them was as big as a 5p coin. It was absolutely fine. Just tie it tighter than you think you should.

notanotheronepleasee · 19/10/2020 18:26

I had one removed with electrolysis. Was painful but great.

ChaToilLeam · 19/10/2020 18:31

Paid about 30 quid a few years back to have a number of them removed by electrolysis. Hurt a bit but was over quickly.

Sgtmajormummy · 19/10/2020 18:53

DH had one removed from his eyelid (about the size of a grain of rice) by a private dermatologist. We didn’t want to do DIY in such a delicate area. The doctor used numbing spray, a scalpel and a dissolving suture. No pain.
It took five minutes and €50.

Chameleon2003 · 19/10/2020 19:08

I used Tag Band from Amazon. Brilliant. They come in different sizes. It just dries up over a few days and drops off.

Coffeepot72 · 19/10/2020 19:08

Yes, I had a skin tag removed from the side of my nose last Wednesday. I went to a local aesthetics lady, she does botox, fillers etc and has a very good reputation. She applied numbing cream, the used a procedure that created a small amount of smoke, I think she burnt it off. The whole thing took less than 15 mins, I had some minor soreness for about an hour but nothing more. I now have a tiny scab, but I think that will be gone in few days. £40 - bargain!

dementedma · 19/10/2020 19:22

Mine is on my face so I cant do the thread thing but I might go private if others think it worth it

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/10/2020 22:14

Dh used tag bond, worked really well.

TooManyDogsandChildren · 19/10/2020 22:25

Yes I had a large skin tag removed from my neck by a doctor at an Sk:n clinic. Frozen and scraped off with a scalpel. No stitches, I just had a scab. Incredibly quick and completely painless. I could not believe I had lived with it all those years (I was born with it and it was very prominent) when I could have had it removed so easily.

Definitely worth it.

flissity · 19/10/2020 22:29

I e frozen them off in the last. With a verucca/wart freezing kit. Called Wartner I think. It just went black then fell off!

Gemma2019 · 19/10/2020 22:35

If you can reach it easily then just buy a tag band, large size, from Amazon. I've removed several that way

swimster01 · 20/10/2020 09:58

I removed a small one recently with the thread method. It didn't fall off by itself though - it had gone dark and I plumped up the courage to cut it off but it didn't hurt at all and there was no blood.

BarcyDussell · 20/10/2020 10:06

Near me, there is someone who uses lasers to remove thread veins and small blood spots and she also does skin tags from about £50.

OrangeUmbrella · 20/10/2020 12:23

I had one removed from under my eye a few years ago - think it was about £90. The surgeon who did it said he would remove more in that time if I had any but I didn’t. He also offered me anaesthetic but I figured the injection for that would hurt more than just snipping the little thing off.

justanotherneighinparadise · 20/10/2020 13:13

Wow that looks good and very reasonably priced. I have a growing number of tags I need rid off.

Honestly it’s saved me and DP hundreds if not thousands of pounds. All the cherry angiomas are gone. The raised brown warts you get as you age -gone. Skin tags -gone. It’s even meant to work on verrucas though I’ve not tried that!
