Need winter footwear that's as comfy as trainers (or winter trainers if they exist)

Since Covid I've started walking every day, just to the local shops and / or around the park. I've lived in my trainers, and they are so comfortable. I can't see me going back to wearing uncomfortable footwear now. But my trainers are flimsy fabric, so I get wet feet if it rains.

Can any of you suggest some winter footwear that's just as comfortable for local walking? I'd be open to more trainers that feel more wintery but whenever I google 'waterproof trainers' I get lots of fugly looking black walking shoes.

I like the idea of an ankle height boot but with the bouncy soles of a trainer but haven't found anything like this so far.

@OldLeatherSuitcase

Oh those Vans! So many good suggestions on this thread, thank you.
Loads of colours too! And they have the comfy kush soles which are even more comfortable than my normal vans.

Winner winner

I love this thread!! I have been tempted by so many of these over the last few weeks- particularly some of the Ecco and sorrel ones, but now those vans have been thrown in to the mix I'm even more confused!!

OP, check out Fitflop's MukLuk boots. They are exactly this, and I live in mine all winter (and my feet are very particular!)

Sorel do some... they’re amazing! Tbh, their boot foot beds are bore comfy and bouncy than most trainers anyway! The “kinetic” range are great, and so are the “Puffy” range

Trail running shoes.

They performed well this morning down at the park! Haha. The rest of me was freezing considering I went out in a t shirt and rain mac. Idiot
LadyCatStark · 15/10/2020 12:53

I was coming on to say Vans MTEs too 🥰 I wore mine for the whole of last winter solid. In fact I’m off to wash mine and DS’s (if they still fit him) now ready for this winter.

DontAskIDontKnow · 15/10/2020 16:06

Camper Peu boots. There’s not much that’s comfier and they last a long time.

Sunshiney1981 · 15/10/2020 17:10

Another vote for Sorel.
Their ‘Joan’ boots have a “sneaker like sole”

EmmaStone · 15/10/2020 21:09

Yes to leather trainers.

But I bought these a couple of weeks ago, and haven't taken them off. No breaking in either. www.drmartens.com/uk/en_gb/p/21045001

I am eyeing off these:- www.sorel.com/p/womens-joan-of-arctic-next-lite-strap-puffy-boot-1916391.html
I live in Aus, so they will be on sale when I need them.

Allbirds mizzles. Waterproof and so comfy!

WorriedMummy2020 · 15/10/2020 23:09

Lace up, winter boots from Decathlon. I love mine and have walked for hours in them. They're only about £30 too.

WorriedMummy2020 · 15/10/2020 23:09

They're waterproof too.

AestheticWitch · 15/10/2020 23:12

Leather trainers which you can fit some wool insoles in. Warm socks make all the difference too.

HetHetHet · 16/10/2020 11:38

Nike make cosy winter boots (some waterproof) that are just as comfy as their trainers.

I have a pair which are furry inside and are a dream to wear. There are lots of different styles.

nannygoat50 · 18/10/2020 19:46

I’ve got waterproof fitflops . So comfortable and warm .

2020hasbeenbloodyawful · 18/10/2020 20:28

Get a pair of Doc Martens - can be a bugger to wear in but wow they're the comfiest and warmest things in winter - I've had mine going on a decade and they come out every winter without fail.

Only boots I would ever buy and hand on heart one of my comfiest pair of shoes.

Stumpedasatree · 18/10/2020 20:45

@2020hasbeenbloodyawful what Doc's do you have?

2020hasbeenbloodyawful · 18/10/2020 20:57

@stumpedasatree

I have the Pascals - these ones. www.asos.com/dr-martens/dr-martens-pascal-8-eye-boots/prd/7342077?colourwayid=15278655&SearchQuery=dr%20martens

The really hard to wear in ones are the 1460's, I had a burgundy pair and ended up giving them away they rubbed so badly. The Pascals are a much softer leather and don't have the rigidity the 1460's do so are far more comfortable and easier to wear in because they literally fit around your foot rather than being a stiff boot.

If memory serves, I don't think the rubbed at all. Could not recommend them more - they used to be the more expensive model I bought mine for about £100 when Doc Martens only used to be about £80 so I think they're a more expensive leather but they're all the same price now.

Don't be tempted by the kid's sizes if you fit - they're cheaper but they come with a zip with just leads to problems of their own! They're an investment but worth it.
