What three skincare products couldn’t you live without?

...interested to see what people love. I can never seem to find the right product for my skin. I’ve spent a fortune over the years.

I only use one product!
Coconut oil.
I remove my make up with it, then a small amount to moisturise.
Anything else just makes it unbalanced and dry.

RonaldMcDonald · 11/10/2020 03:10

I really rate the Ordinary Squalene Cleanser and Niacinamide and both their Rosehip and Argan Oils
Buffet seems to do nothing
Their Buckthorn Oil is bright orange and you look like Bart Simpson it also transfers onto everything so there is that
The hyluronic acid is poorly formulated and pills under other products

HeronLanyon · 11/10/2020 03:51

Just one - simple light hydrating moisturiser. Used it all my adult life. The only thing I use on my face other than hot water and face cloth.

Brondie · 11/10/2020 09:30

I thought I'd struggle listing just 3, but actually the only products that are constantly in my routine are micellar water and No 7 P&P serum.

I don't use that serum every day, but it's the only item that sticks around and has done for the past 15 or so years. I usually use it 3 or 4 times a week and either a vit c or hyaluronic acid serum in between. Not particularly loyal to a brand for those, but The Ordinary and Hado Labo are ones I sometimes use.

Actually, have only been using The Ordinary vit c serum for about 3 weeks and I can't say I've noticed much difference yet. It leaves a strange residue on the skin. Almost like a peel off face mask, but then it melts away once I moisturise. Should I keep going with it?

Oh and SPF 30 every day, so I guess that is 3 now.

ZaZathecat · 11/10/2020 10:46

Olay beauty cream (I've been using it for over 40 years!)
Any cheap primer, e.g. Collection
Any cheap light foundation/tinted moisturizer, again e.g. Collection.

Body Shop Vitamin E Cream has been my staple for decades but I am currently living without it and I repeat-buy Biore Watery Essence SPF 50 which I wear every day. I like The Ordinary caffeine solution and various toners and hydrators but don't really rate their cleanser or moisturiser (although the packing means they're good for travelling).

The Ordinary Organic Rosehip Oil
O'Keefe's Working Hands hand cream
Palmer's Cocoa Butter Ultimate Moisture Swivel Stick (great for lips and other dry skin areas)

SisyphusAndTheRockOfUntidiness · 11/10/2020 11:44

Biore Watery Essence SPF50
La Roche Posay Cicaplast cream - the hand & general versions
Nuxe dry oil spray

XingMing · 11/10/2020 11:54

Dermologica Cleansing Gel
A hyaluronic lotion (I like the Hada Labo, JapanFusion, and a Shiseido jelly but use them interchangeably)
A serum.

Moisturiser in winter only.

@Gwenhwyfar

"To the people that are using [The Ordinary] currently. Do you rate it? Has it improved your skin etc? Did you look into which of their products would suit you, as they do so much!

Overhyped imo.

I never really liked it as it wasn't enough for my skin (poor barrier function, easily dehydrated), The cleanser and some of the oils are good though.
withlotsoflove · 11/10/2020 19:39

Jojoba oil
SPF 50
Retin A :)

phoolani · 11/10/2020 20:17

Clarins blue orchid oil, which is weird because if you ask me I’ll say oils are oils, get a nice cheap one but I always find myself replacing this very-much-not-cheap one.
Origins Drink Up overnight mask, used it for years gives lovely plump dewy skin on waking, though the last one I bought was smaller and I think they’ve changed the formula because it’s not quite as good anymore.
Pixi Vitamin C which does actually make my skin look brighter.

VinylDetective · 11/10/2020 22:09

Does Drink Up still stink? The smell used to make me feel sick.

phoolani · 11/10/2020 22:11

I’m guessing for you yes, it does..? In that, I don’t think the smell has ever changed that I’ve noticed. I love the smell though...

VinylDetective · 11/10/2020 22:14

Sorry, I should have asked if it still smells the same. I love the smell of Night-a-Mins but Drink Up always smelt bad to me. It’s a shame because it’s good stuff.

JonHammIsMyJamm · 11/10/2020 22:14

Gawd yes, it used to have a really strong fruity smell. I liked the Clinique version too, similar morning after effects but without the fragrance (great for flights too).
PimlicoJo · 11/10/2020 22:36

Beauty Pie Super Healthy Skin cleanser
Aldi caviar moisturiser
Aldi glycolic toner - dupe for Pixi glow tonic.

foilflower · 11/10/2020 23:14

Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair serum
Dermalogica Intensive Moisture Balance moisturiser
Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference moisturiser

LaBellina · 15/10/2020 02:19

Sorry for the late reply Blush but thanks @ChloeDecker I'll definetly have a look at the FrizzyDerm website xxx

Guineapigbridge · 15/10/2020 02:22

Nivea soft or Nivea day creme. Cheap and soooo effective.
L'occitane soap
Tea tree oil. It is effective on spots, blemishes, fungal infections, coldsores, anything 'iffy' with my skin.

stayathomer · 16/10/2020 01:08

Cetaphil gentle face wash, roche posay spf and avene skin soothing cream- they keep my roseacea in check!

stayathomer · 16/10/2020 01:11

Olay beauty cream (I've been using it for over 40 years!)

Zazathecat I wanted to try the regenerest but waited until I turned 40, then saw the girl advertising it is about 30!!!

Emerald123 · 16/10/2020 01:26

Gatinau Vitamina hand cream (recommended it to everyone for lockdown hands)
Elemis skin resurfacing face wash
L loccitane shea butter shower creme

MarriedtoDaveGrohl · 16/10/2020 01:35

The only sunblock that is close to good on my face (it's perfect) is jan Marini physical protectant. I've tried dozens.

The only face cream i use is retin A - by far the best product on the market.

And for my neck, chest and hands its prai ageless throat cream from marks. It really works though obviously if you stop using it it stops working. But smells lovely and is cheap,

MrsCornelius · 20/10/2020 08:46

Retin-A, Vitamin C serum, and Niacinamide.
I get the retinA at chemists (I live abroad) and the other two from The Ordinary.
