I've recently started to make a bit more of an effort re my appearance and so far have bought Sweaty Betty yoga pants, a top from Whistles and an electronic pelvic floor exerciser on recommendation from this (wonderful) board.

What have you bought having seen it mentioned here and are you pleased with it? Thrilled with mine!

Perfume parlour perfume dupes. Awaiting my first order!

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 07/10/2020 21:59

Absolutely agree SwimmingOnEggshells. It was quite grainy aswell so hurt my skin a bit going on.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 07/10/2020 22:07

@CleverCatty long story, but basically I can't afford it. The one I got cost quite a lot and I'll never get what I paid for it, so won't be able to afford a new one.

Tigger03 · 07/10/2020 22:12

Also intrigued what the Mumsnet scarf is!

Snag tights and Love leggings - really happy with both Smile

quickkimchi · 08/10/2020 01:49

Linen bedding. I've mostly just washed and dried and put straight back on the bed since buying it, I love it so much. It's perfect in the winter and perfect in the summer, I can't even explain why.
Wild deodorant, brilliant stuff.
Some kind of sun cream, I forget the brand, which stings both my skin and eyes.
Adapalene. It's good for texture, we'll see.
Loads of laundry products, mostly for getting whites white. That may have been what brought me to MN originally actually. I now have Napisan, Daz, colour catchers and an oxy powder in the house at all times Smile One of my fun lockdown activities was buying old formerly-white vintage cottagecore blousy blouses from eBay and Etsy and making them white again.

@blackcatgingercat

I bought the mumsnet scarf many years ago. Now my dd8 (asd) takes it to school everyday as a little bit of home :)
I bought the Mumsnet scarf too. I still wear it often .... When my daughter isn't using it as a snuggly in bed!
SallyOMalley · 08/10/2020 07:00

@Tigger03

Also intrigued what the Mumsnet scarf is!
It's a leopard print scarf. Very big, very light and very warm. Came in a zillion different colours and was as cheap as chips from eBay. For me, price per wear must be miniscule!
SpeckledyHen · 08/10/2020 07:12

@Tigger03

Also intrigued what the Mumsnet scarf is!
It was the sad £10 rip off of the Louis Vuitton Sprouse scarf which was about £550 at the time if I remember correctly . Not a fan of the real one but even less so of the fake .

SKIN
=bad
Heliocare Gel (bad, terrible spots)
The Ordinary rosehip oil (terrible, spots and face rage)
The Inkey List Hyaluronic acid (terrible, red faced hell)
=good
Biore Watery Essence SPF 50+++ (good)
Centella Green Level SPF 50+++ (really good)
Korea Italy towels (so good! the grey rolls of skin omg)
Tretinoin from Dermatica (v good)
The Ordinary acids (yes, good, value and effective)
The Ordinary retinol (fine, but nothing to the tretinoin I progressed to)

HAIR
=bad
La Roche Posay (bad, spots)
Josh Woods hair dye (expensive and looked as shit and cheaply orange as a five pound box from the chemist)
=good
Microfibre hair wraps (good, never going back)
Revlon One Step (quite good, still a bit staticky)
Olaplex 3 (yes, good but I have moved to...)
Innoluxe v2 (similar to Olaplex but also conditioning and leave in, so a bit more for your efforts)

Mellan · 08/10/2020 07:24

erm, la roche posay should be under skin not hair... I wasn't putting it on my hair! Grin

Atalune · 08/10/2020 08:10

Can someone link up the Korean Italy face things please? And also what’s the retinol you’ve moved up to @Mellan please? Thank you!

Tadpolesandfroglets · 08/10/2020 08:53

Just google them!

boredboredboredboredbored · 08/10/2020 08:54

Snag tights (disappointing as the dig in my stomach)

Mint velvet leggings - best I've ever tried thanks MN 👍🏻

AriesTheRam · 08/10/2020 08:57

Korea Italy towels.
Tu leggings.

FearlessSwiftie · 08/10/2020 09:24

Aveeno products! I don't remember who had recommended it and where but it was a total must have for my dry skin. Also I've tried Photodiva portrat editor following someone's recommendation. And brow mascara.

CleverCatty · 08/10/2020 09:49

@AbstractDot

So much...

Lumea - disappointing but persevering
Babyliss Big Hair - love for the ends of hair
Remington Hot Air Styler - love for main dry
Veja Trainers - love but taking some 'wearing in'
Korean Italy Cloths - I've always been able to do this just by rubbing with my hands and creating the friction, didn't realise til I bought them what they would do
Footner - love the peel
Laura Mercier Tightliner - love it
Hourglass palette - not that special
Kerastase Shampoo - perhaps not the right one for my hair, will try others
Silk Pillowcase - haven't noticed anything amazing so want a Silke turban though I accept results may take a very long time!
Essie Nail Polish in Ballet Slippers - LOVE
Nivea Water Gel SPF 50 - wear daily, no issues with make up
Isle of Paradise Tanning Drops - prefer my Ambre Solaire gradual tanner, same effect for less. Prefer a different full on fake tan.
Wilko Mascaras - led me to the 'I need a miracle' one which I'm loving for its tinting after effects
The Ordinary - I've used much more expensive ranges and love the full customisation of routine with free advice via email.
Aldis Pixi Glow Tonic Dupe - unsure if it's doing anything spectacular
Aldis rosehip oil as couldn't get TO rosehip oil - may be breaking me out but tbc
John Frieda Luxurious Volume Wash-in and rinse lotion - LOVE

Still want...
Frog Prince Lipstick
Silke Turban
Silke hair ties

Send cash help!!!

AbstractDot

I've seen Hourglass Palettes being used on the train etc and always thought they looked overrated now I know they are!

Kerastase shampoo - again - used this once or twice in past not hugely impressed but a friend swore by it so bought some again and again unimpressed.

Isle of Paradise tanning drops - bought - saw they had awful reviews so took back for a refund.

Basically I started a new job this time last year - went into Space NK to pick up my free birthday gift (which reminds me - not received it yet this year either) - and the saleswoman there fell over me trying to sell me Lipstick Queen, By Terry etc. Unimpressed. Got a Becca powder there the other week - I got the same effect from a drugstore brand in Boots/Superdrug!

Re Rosehip oil - I got a sample size of Aesops one - used it - but thought I'm not buying an expensive one so now I go on Ebay find a reputable seller and cheap price and buy that. They're all the same I swear! But I do like I think what it does to my skin.

CeibaTree · 08/10/2020 09:53

Face Theory products (love them)
A Phillips Lumia (haven't used it yet)
Neste Dante soap (couldn't see what the fuss was about, I was underwhelmed)
A chest freezer (although that was from reading the preppers forum not style and beauty!)

Notverybright · 08/10/2020 14:02

I watch too much tv because every time I see a chest freezer I think someone must be hiding a body in it Grin.

Elllllle · 08/10/2020 14:16

You know that you've been on S&B too long when you remember the mumsnet scarf phase (there was also a stripey phase eight summer dress that everyone was raving about, same sort of era!)

TheDogsMother · 08/10/2020 14:26

I first stumbled into Mumsnet when we were having new bathrooms and kitchen fitted. It became my source book and as a result we now have AquaLisa digital showers (much against Piglet John's advice) and Neff kitchen appliances including induction hob, combi oven and Slide & Hide oven. Aside from these

Dyson Hairdryer (just this week)
Vit C serum
Retinol

WeeM · 08/10/2020 14:26

Parlux hairdryer - love it
Neste Dante soap - lasts forever
Saltwater sandals - love them
The ordinary retinol and Vit C - still to see results, not been using long enough

I’m sure there’s probably more!

Mellan · 08/10/2020 17:59
