What undies does your DS wear?

Briefs?
Boxers?
Y-fronts?
I was shopping for new undies for DS1 (5) and wondered what age was appropriate to switch to boxers. He wears briefs now.

This is the David Cameron / Tony Blair question isn't it. Depends on his political leanings I suppose.

totalyfreaky · 10/10/2007 22:46

Since he discovered briefs and boxers ds (6) wont wear anything else.

pneumalifenewname · 10/10/2007 22:47

ds(6) wears boxers
ds(4) wears pants - i.e. briefs

reasoning is that ds2 can feel the pants more so remembers he has to go to the toilet

ChasingSquirrels · 10/10/2007 22:47

5yo - power rangers pants (I guess they are briefs) - or plain ones if all the power rangers are in the wash.

roisin · 10/10/2007 22:48

DS1 wore boxers from age 5 because he was a bit prone to eczema, and didn't get on with the school Teflon trousers. He's happy with either now (10) though, I don't know which he prefers.

DS2 (8) wears briefs. Mostly age 4-5 because he's so skinny they still fit!

scampadoodle · 10/10/2007 22:51

Both DSs (6 & 3) wear briefs, tho DS1 has graduated to camouflage print while DS2 is still on Bob the B...
DS1 does have 2 pairs of cotton jersy boxers but I find they don't lie well under his trousers - he's skinny so they're quite bulky.

scampadoodle · 10/10/2007 22:51

Or jersey even

What do you mean 'troll'?
Why is it an odd question?

OP posts:
totalyfreaky · 10/10/2007 23:03

??? why is tha tollish

MrsSeanSlater · 10/10/2007 23:03

lisalisa, are you joking?
If not I'm more than a little annoyed at being accused of trolling.

OP posts:
totalyfreaky · 10/10/2007 23:04

try again

??? why is that trollish

pneumalifenewname · 10/10/2007 23:04

Don't be silly. But if MrsSS were a troll then it would be their problem if boys pants were a sexual thrill not mine or my dss.

Hello MrsSS

MrsSeanSlater · 10/10/2007 23:06

Hi newlife.

I thought it was a pretty innocuous question.

OP posts:
pneumalifenewname · 10/10/2007 23:11

I'm glad that it hadn't occurred to me to perceive the question as strange in any way.

Ds who is 4 is not at all keen on boxers but neither of them object to briefs, if that helps?

Didn't occur to me either. Tis a sorry state of affairs when an innocent question from a mother wondering what underwear to buy for her son is perceived as a bit iffy.
Anyway, DP thinks he's too young for boxers so we'll stick to briefs/pants.
Thanks all who answered.

DS2 is 8 and has been wearing boxers since age 5 - when he decided that "pants are for babies" as daddy wears boxers, as does DS1.

No choice

But they are the fitted kind

MrsSeanSlater · 10/10/2007 23:16

Lisalisa, I've been on MN since 2004 (namechanged a couple of times) and have seen many trolls too.

OP posts:
TellusMater · 10/10/2007 23:17

Boxers for ds (6). 'Cos his dad wears boxers.

MrsSeanSlater · 10/10/2007 23:18

That's what I thought, that DS1 would like to wear grown-up 'daddy pants'. DP reckons he might flop out while getting changed for PE though

OP posts:
NormanBatesFletcher · 10/10/2007 23:24

No - the fitted ones are just like pants but with legs

No flopping, honest

totalyfreaky · 10/10/2007 23:25

the fitted ones are called trunks (not the swimming variety)

ds1 - trunks since he was 8 or 9, mainly b/c other boys at school had changed to trunks and he wanted to be the same as his friends
ds2 - briefs - he's 5, almost 6
