Uniqlo

Why didn’t I know about this store?
I have heard mention on here about their jumpers but I didn’t think it was really my style. Went to a huge one in Manchester yesterday and bought some fab pull on wide leg trousers that look really smart but are as comfy as trackies. My trendy 15 year old DD also bought a pair in another colour. I bought a black long sleeved tshirt dress as well and a pull on bra that contains my 36 DDs but looks nice and is comfy. All this for under £50. Brilliant
I’m a 48 year old size 16 add thought it was for younger waifs. Can’t wait to go back

I absolutely love Uniqlo and have bought almost all my lockdown clothes from there. So comfy but all wash well. However I have never seen those trousers and I'm buying a pair right now because not only do they look great but they are $9.90 in the sale! (I'm in the US).

I have discovered Uniqlo in lockdown and love it. I always get asked where I’ve bought things from when I wear Uniqlo. I am planning on investing in some Heatech bits for WFH for the foreseeable. Anyone bought any Heatech stuff recently?

Panicmode1 · 27/09/2020 19:42

I've been a Uniqlo fan for years and years. I wish there was a store closer to us. I bought loads of clothes for my children, and have their V neck jumpers in every colour!

I’m a recent convert too. I’ve lived in their leggings and tops since working from home. Comfy but smart enough for zoom meetings.

Love uniqlo.
There was a shop about 10 mins walk from my house when I lived in China. Love the down coats and cashmere.

Ghostlyglow · 27/09/2020 20:42

Just bought myself a new cashmere hat and scarf from there for this winter. Their basics are really good. As someone else mentioned, I like that their stuff isn't frilly or fussy.

RoadTripsOceanDips · 27/09/2020 20:48

What’s the sizing like? Love the trousers but not sure what to go for size wise. I’m a 14 if it makes a difference.

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 27/09/2020 20:52

Was just about to ask exactly the same as @RoadTripsOceanDips! No physical store anywhere near us to try things on.

Heatech is absolutely fantastic. Kids and I wear it a lot in winter- as a base layer for school sport, skiing, underneath normal jumpers when it gets a bit cold and layers are needed. It comes now in standart and warm, I practically live in their long sleeve tshirts the whole winter season.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 27/09/2020 21:20

I find the sizing very good. I am a size 12 and basically everything in a medium will fit. I've got a few smalls and I will buy larger hoodies because it doesn't matter. This is despite the 'flat' designs when I've got a very ample bust.

I'm a long-time Uniqlo fan - size-wise I'm a 14 and find the L fits me in most things (29 in trousers but I'm a pear with a relatively small waist).

Favourite things: merino and cashmere jumpers, as PPs have said; the down jackets; Heattech vests I live in all winter; blazers from the Ines de la Fressange collabs (also belts from that range); Uniqlo U for more modern silhouettes; wide leg chinos which they do in variations every season and are excellent (just picked up these in black and they are perfect, a bit longer than they look in the photos); jeans especially the "wide leg curve" ones which are basically barrel leg; the Marimekko collabs and not forgetting the thick cotton Breton tops which are amazing quality for £12.90 (slightly concerned these don't seem to have made an appearance this year).

I like the "Japandi" vibe of a lot of their clothes - only thing that drives me a bit nuts is that the cuts are quite short (I'm 5'9) so I have to be careful with the trousers. They do have an alterations service though - not sure if that's online but definitely do it in store.
