Plus size and struggling with dressing for work and casual

I'm a size 18-20. My weight is all on my stomach and boobs.
I hate my arms showing.
I am having really severe body image issues at the moment (recovering eating disorder)

For some reason I can't seem to dress myself for work or casual in warmer weather. All of my shirts are synthetic fabrics and more autmum/winter appropriate.
I am rubbish at knowing what goes well together and what doesn't make me look frumpy or even bigger than I am.

Can any plus size people help me with some inspiration/outfit ideas?

Work = smart casual
Home = comfortable/casual/able to go out to restaurants etc

I'm a similar size to you OP. I like wearing dresses at the moment as they are cool are comfortable. I find the tea dress or wrap dress shapes work best on me, giving me shape and flattering my bust line whilst hiding my tummy and hips.

I've just bought this dress from Next, it has that tea dress shape and is a nice lightweight cotton

I also really like Bravissimo dresses. I just bought this one from eBay and it's become my favourite, so soft, comfortable and easy to wear. Easily smart enough for working from home.

Studio 24..fits good. Cheap.
Simply Be is ok. Fit can vary though

Navabi have a massive range and good sales. Good for work and more formal occasions.
I've worn a lot of tunic and leggings outfits for casual wear.
If you know what basic figure you have eg I'm an apple - then there's lots of info online about styles etc.

I think it’s about finding your style and sticking with it. I wear long sleeved dresses and black opaque tights at work all year round. All that changes is the material - in summer the dresses are lighter (think shirt dresses) and the rights are 60 dernier instead of 100.

I find Hobbs really good as a pear shape, but for your body type Monsoon, Phase 8, and Asos are doing some really good stuff right now.

What colours and styles do you like?
If you aren't sure can you tell us how old you are and your colourings
(hair, eyes, skin tone).

Some suggestions:

  1. Get really good underwear. Do the boob or bust method here: booborbust.com/ I recommend 'bra stop shop` for big decent bras on more affordable prices: brastop.com
You need a black and as close to your own skin tone in 'nude' bra as a minimum. Something that really lifts them up.
  1. Good comfortable, fashionable (ha!) shoes. There can be a whole thread about this but the wrong shoes will make you miserable, in a bad mood and ruin the outfit.
  1. Get your make up, skin and hair as nice as you can.
  1. Outfits:

a) Work warm weather combos example:

b) casual/out of work warm weather outfit examples:

I'm the same shape and size 18. I wear elasticated midi skirts and t shirts and midi dresses and sandals in the hot weather. Denim jacket in size too small for a casual look. Slouchy or boyfriend t shirts from primark. Hair nails and raybans. Bags with a gold chain. I also dont like my knees!

I think in the very hot weather it's ok to dress a bit more casually at work- mine anyway.

I have only been at work for 5 days some march 18th so forget the struggles of full time dressing for work.
