Is Botox my only hope?

Or would retinol fix this? Horrified after seeing a pic of me in the sunlight today (cropped below) which looks dreadful. Any advice S&B?

Is Botox my only hope?

It was unkind and boastful and twattish.

GrumpyHoonMain · 10/08/2020 00:10

@AteAllTheAfterEights

33 😳
Buy a high facial SPF (neutrogena do one with 110 spf), hydrate, and go to the dermatica website to talk to a dermatologist. At your age this is probably just a tempory lifestyle thing.
GrumpyHoonMain · 10/08/2020 00:12

@Redhair23

Why do people come on to boast that they have no wrinkles? WTF is wrong with people?
Some people sag rather than wrinkle which is what is currently happening around my jaw. Would love to wrinkle instead.
MiddlesexGirl · 10/08/2020 00:14

It's all in the genes I'm afraid. If you've got 'good' genes then you don't need to do anything at all.
Nothing natural will reduce wrinkles.

I'd get a good haircut and avoid a lifetime of slavery to botox, treatments and skincare routines.

huuunderickssss · 10/08/2020 00:14

It's not boastful fo make choices .. they are choices that anyone can make . I drink a lot of water and I actually think it's that that smooths my skin out .

Same argument could be used for Cancer.

Just because you don’t want to do something doesn’t mean it’s wrong.

VaggieMight · 10/08/2020 00:18

Botox will be a lot more effective than eating blueberries. If you get decent treatment no one will notice. It's fillers which are noticeable.

MissMarks · 10/08/2020 00:19

You started by saying ‘Blimey- I am 40 something and I don’t have any wrinkles!’
firstly- ‘Blimey’ is judgemental and reaffirms the OPs belief that there is something wrong with her, and then you go further by pointing out you are considerably older and don’t have wrinkles- meaning again she is abnormal!
Unkind and unhelpful and lacking in any sort of empathy. Bizarre as you also point out you are vegan so presumably have some issue with being unkind to animals 🤔

MyNameIsNotMummy · 10/08/2020 00:20

3L of water a day
Organic virgin coconut oil slathered on at night (+ a spoon by mouth)
Collagen serum under normal moisturiser in the day.

That’s what’s working for me along with a good exercise session 6 days a week where you work up a good sweat (increases collagen production, removes toxins and gives you the glow).

Id rather do all that than resort to Botox at the age 33!

Bright daylight also shows up all our tiny imperfections by about a 1000 % BTW!

ssiennaa · 10/08/2020 00:30

Honestly I cannot recommend Botox enough. It’s to do with genetics, not just your level of hydration. Also keep in mind Botox is also a preventative measure against deep wrinkles and not just a cure. Find a good, properly qualified, person to do it and you’ll thank yourself years to come ;)

ssiennaa · 10/08/2020 00:41

Also I need to say this based on the fact I read all the previous responses: there is no shame in getting Botox!! I’ve had it done since my late 20’s (frown line). It does cost, but not as much as some bs wrinkle creams do. So really you either ~bite the bullet~ or hope that water and £100 creams will do. But if you get Botox, please DO find someone qualified.

IdblowJonSnow · 10/08/2020 00:44

Botox is great. If you dont like it it wears off. No one will 'laugh' because they wont know! It's only when people go ott with it that you can tell.

Mammyloveswine · 10/08/2020 00:45

I swear by the bodyshop drops of youth serum!! I'm 33 too! It's made a huge difference!

Mrstwiddle · 10/08/2020 05:36

Personally, I’d leave off Botox as long as possible, agree that starting on tretinoin now and ensuring spf 50 everyday should help considerably, but I do think it’s not as bad as you think, that’s a very close close up!

huuunderickssss · 10/08/2020 07:15

Eating clean and no meat or dairy is great for your skin .. that's the point I was making .. again choices people make affect their lifestyle .. I believe drinking and obvs smoking does too..

JingleCatJingle · 10/08/2020 08:19

The lady who applied my botox said I have a very expressive face and that’s why I ended up with forehead wrinkles.
Keep calm and try mindfulness as well. Teenage sons, work and exam pressures will not help! ;)

redferrari · 10/08/2020 11:41

@MyNameIsNotMummy pls can you share which collagen serum you use? Another recommendation for coconut oil I am using it weekly on skin for a massage and frequently on my wavy curly hair in lockdown.

MyNameIsNotMummy · 10/08/2020 12:44

I use this one red. My local Home Bargains stocks it for £2.99!

Wow! Comparing wrinkles to cancer.

lindyloo57 · 10/08/2020 17:34

No to botox, just look at Katie price, that would put anyone off, try water retinol and spf.

AteAllTheAfterEights · 10/08/2020 17:35

I expect my expressive eyebrows are at least partly to blame Hmm

LOTS of water, healthy diet, plenty of sunscreen or a large sunhat , or a change in hairstyle.

I've heard WAY TOO MANY botox disaster stories to EVER go near the stuff ... paying hundreds of pounds for semi-permanent or in some cases permanent muscle numbing and nerve damage is enough for me to stay well clear! I know several cases of friends who literally will never recover from it - and definitely not in a good way!

If you can't live a healthy lifestyle (life's too short) them embrace 'you' in all your glory - nothing's as bad as you think it is!

Pikachubaby · 10/08/2020 21:33

OP, nobody, literally bony will ever look at your forehead just like that Grin

People will take in an impression of the “whole” Of your face, including expressions

I remember already having those “grooves” in my forehead at 17 (noticeable in harsh light when I peered at myself) and despairing at my genetic lot

But really, it’s all nonsense. My friends who have done Botox now have very smooth and very very shines foreheads. Now they are worried about their lips. Next stop: neck

I am sure you look fine, and are being harsh on yourself

fantab · 10/08/2020 22:04

Try using a moisturiser with hyaluronic acid for a few weeks.

redferrari · 10/08/2020 22:23

Thank you @MyNameIsNotMummy
