Jeans and a nice top

I'm out for drink with the girls and it's jeans, heels and a nice top. I've put on a stone during lockdown and I'm just at a loss of what to wear. They are all so stylish and slim. Please help me pick an outfit?

40 year old, curvy size 12/14

Do you have the time, inclination or money to buy a pretty dress? If you get the right fit for your figure it would be more comfortable than jeans and a top.

Beachlovingirl · 09/08/2020 19:13

What is your body shape?
Do you want to wear jeans and a top? Even if everyone else is wearing that doesn’t mean you have to Smile

GrumpyHoonMain · 09/08/2020 19:14

I would wear culotte jeans that end around the calf, sliders, and a nice wrap over blouse. Look on ASOS that look is everywhere at the moment and really suits curvier women

MrsGrindah · 09/08/2020 19:18

What do you mean” It’s jeans heels and a nice top”? Don’t you all just wear what you want?

suziq22 · 09/08/2020 19:18

@dudsville I'm feeling a bit butch for a dress 🤦🏻‍♀️ But if I could find the right one...

@Beachlovingirl I'm hourglass. Big bum and big boobs. Just don't want to be overdressed or underdressed!

Hourglass - you’re already super lucky there op I wish I was hourglass!

Anyway, I quite like this look from reiss. You could mix with a silk blouse instead?

Beachlovingirl · 09/08/2020 19:28

Do you like any of that ^ ? No offence taken of not, good to get an idea of what you’re thinking of. Smile

MrsGrindah · 09/08/2020 19:33

Do your jeans still fit you? In that case just get a nice wrap around top , or glam smock type top. Looks good with heels.

nancy75 · 09/08/2020 19:36

Jeans? In this weather? I would rather cut my legs off than put a pair of jeans on in this heat!
Get a nice frock, much cooler, more comfortable & much more modern than jeans & a nice top

MrsGrindah · 09/08/2020 19:38

Not everywhere is experiencing the heat!

nancy75 · 09/08/2020 19:38

And unless you’ve grown a full beard & taken to twirling your tash you are NOT too butch for a frock!

Beachlovingirl · 09/08/2020 19:38

Dress-wise this is also nice and you’ll get wear out of it in autumn too

Sorry it’s reiss again.... can you provide some budgetary direction?

Lucky you if you’re missing it, it’s like being in an oven
suziq22 · 09/08/2020 19:39

@Beachlovingirl I really like it, thank you!! GrinI'm going to order the jeans. I have a v neck silk top in navy from whistles that still fits me. I like the heels in this pic, but they look a bit dainty for me. Could you suggest heels that would go?

OP posts:
suziq22 · 09/08/2020 19:41

@Beachlovingirl the dress is lovely, but too short for me. My thighs have seen better days 😅

@MrsGrindah I'm in Scotland

There is a marked north south divide weatherwise at the moment. It is about 10 degrees warmer further south from me. I am in jeans and quite comfortable.
Carycy · 09/08/2020 19:44

I don’t know many people that wear jeans heels and a nice top anymore. That look is a bit noughties. Wear a dress. Far more comfy

huuunderickssss · 09/08/2020 19:48

I'd go jumpsuit ! Simple and flattering!

Beachlovingirl · 09/08/2020 19:49

Happy to help op Smile

I like the jeans, I am coveting them myself Grin

Heels wise I am that person who has a million pairs of boots. So someone else might be the heels person but I saw these on the whistles website and thought they are still sexy but not as dainty as the reiss offerings

Ps I am also in Scotland so I wore a nice dress from Anthropologie today but would have also been comfortable in jeans lol.

suziq22 · 09/08/2020 19:51

@Carycy I'm so out of touch! Can you let me know what kind a dress you'd suggest?

OP posts:
suziq22 · 09/08/2020 19:57

@Beachlovingirl they are lovely, but I would like a little height. I have gold block heels from last year... I'll try posting a pic. Do you think they would look ok with the jeans and a navy top?

I may need a jacket 🤣

A tea dress? I assume by curvy you mean hourglass. Something like this?

DrCoconut · 09/08/2020 20:04

Ginfordinner, I had jeans and a hoody on at the park today. Socks and trainers too. It's gone cold up here.

Sakura7 · 09/08/2020 20:08

@Carycy

Where I am, lots of women wear jeans or some form of trousers going out to the pub. Don't see dresses as much as I would have a few years ago. The high heels are out though, it's shorter block heels or flat boots, etc.

Beachlovingirl · 09/08/2020 20:36

I like the block heels in gold as that would be nice with the blues of the jeans and the top. You could wear gold jewellery too?

Jacket-wise tell me more about that you’re thinking Grin I also have a thing about jackets!

Where I am it is super warm but I’m always dubious with the weather here! I usually end up in my trusty all saints boots (I have multiple pairs) because of the chance of rain and wet feet.
