Do flat shoes ever work with a dress and tights?

After lockdown I've decided to ditch the high heels.

I have to look quite smart for work and like to be warm without any bare skin around my ankles, so tend to wear dresses and tights in winter, usually with pointed toe, medium heeled stilettos.

Any suggestions for flat shoes that could work with dresses and tights without looking strange?

Or any other outfit ideas for winter that would mean I can keep my feet and ankles warm?

I think you need more structured ballet pump-style flats to work well with tights.

I hate those totally thin soled types - so uncomfortable to walk in and make some people (like me) look sort of off-balance.

I'm a fan of the flats with structure and support, and a built in low heel. I've worn them with tights and formal dress for business meetings. Macys website is worth a look around as they have a great range. www.macys.com/shop/b/flat-shoes-for-women?id=78962

Softwalk, Sun + Stone and Trotters have nice styles that work well with tights.

Yes - I love the look of quality loafers, dark opaque tights and a mid length or short ish dress or skirt. In summer the shoes change to pumps. I find it hard to give up the opaques in spring and summer (even though hot and seasonably unfashionable I feel confident in them). This summer I have advanced to summer style tights - but I feel strange without my comfy opaques.

Only if you have lovely legs and neat ankles imo

It depends on your proportions. Unfortunately, if you have short, heavy legs (particularly the lower part), flats look bad with dresses. If you have slim ankles and normal to long legs, pretty much anything goes.
