Glossier favourites

So, ive recently got a few bits from Glossier and really liking it so far, so thought it might be good to have a thread where people can share their likes, dislikes and recommendations.

So far i have:

Futuredew - love it so far. I cant see me using it makeup free as it's a bit too much, but beautiful under a light foundation / bb cream. Ive also used it before bed and my skin feels amazing the next day.

Cloudpaint - so this is what drew me to Glossier and i haven't been disappointed. I ordered in beam and it's very pretty, but just not quite the right colour for my pale skin, but it will be fab to mix with others. I love the texture, it seems very buildable and a little goes a long way. Have a found my HG blush? Once i have the right shade, yes possibly.

Holographic lipgloss - i should say that I wasn't planning to buy this, but it made sense to buy the set which includes a lipgloss, so i ended up with this one. I had low expectations tbh but i really love it. It catches the light beautifully when worn alone, but is also great over a blotted lipstick. So far, so good.

So far i would recommend all of the above. The price isn't cheap but not ridiculously expensive either. There's always a 10% off code which helps. (i posted my 10% off link in the promo codes board but worth asking friends or family if they have one, in case you would prefer to send a Glossier credit their way)

I've also now ordered the Perfecting Skin Tint and Stretch Concealer in G10 and i have high hopes for these. I know the PST gives very little coverage and that's fine with me. Hope i like it!

Sneakily i also added another cloudpaint to my order so I'm also waiting for Storm to arrive - I'm hoping this, possibly paired with beam on occasion, will be my dream blush.

Keen to know what you have liked / disliked - what lives up to the hype and what doesn't? Also any tips or hacks for application would be great. ❤️

Are you like a rep for Glossier, or is it literally just a referral link that anyone can get? Every time I have watched a YouTube video on Glossier they seem to have some sort of deal going on with the brand? Everyone seems to be in on something that I'm not! Grin

Also, I waited a long time for delivery, almost 2 weeks, which is what they said it would be on the website - I assumed this was because it was being shipped from the US?

Haha no, I wish! Anyone who orders from them gets a link to share. Check in your account - you will have one too.

That's why i said in my first post to make sure to use 'a' referral link ie I'd love people to use mine so i get extra glossier credits, but i would always try to use a friend's link so they get the credit.

I don't know what reps get but i can imagine it involves loads of free products!

I order from the uk site and each time they have dispatched same day and it's sent with Royal Mail 48 hour tracked. Have you ordered recently?

Mine arrived just as I was leaving the house today so haven't had a chance to try it yet, will report back later. Delivery was pretty quick though.

KingFredsTache · 29/07/2020 16:00

I ordered about 3 or 4 months ago I think? Have they changed the delivery policy I wonder?

Housewife2010 · 29/07/2020 17:00

I'm really happy with Glossier. I've ordered a lot and the items come really fast. It's by Royal Mail though so it does depend what your local delivery is like - my RM is terrible at the moment.
Re Cloud Paint I like to apply with my fingers. Sometimes I then use my dampened beauty blender to blur around the edges.
I forgot to mention the Haloscope highlighter stick in Quartz which is lovely. It is subtle and gives a lovely glow - definitely a grown-up and less Instagram way to wear highlighter.

Thanks - your point re haloscope is interesting actually as i do typically have a fear of highlighter due to the massively overmade looks on insta. I have noticed lots of good reviews of it though so it is defo on my radar. Having said that, with the future dew, skin tint and cloudpaint, I've already got a pretty good glow and don't want to go over the top!

Love haloscope. Hate the eyeshadow. Love the perfume. I’m 50

DefinatelyAWeeGobshite · 29/07/2020 18:21

Haven’t read the other posts yet but the stretch concealer is my absolute favourite undereye concealer or all over foundation for days when I don’t need my makeup to last very long. I’m almost finished my first pot and will absolutely order again.

Likes

  • Lash Slick is good for very natural mascara days or bottom lashes
  • Cloud Paint, I loved Dusk but I gave it away to a friend as I just have far too many cream blushers, I need seemed to reach for it much
  • Boy Brow is a brilliant brow gel, I’ve been through several tubes and will probably buy again next time I’m buying my concealer, although I’m also enjoying the ELF version
  • Haloscope is lovely although I now have the Aldi version which is honestly the exact same for about £3
  • Pro tip liner, a decent liner, pretty long lasting and a deep black shade, really enjoyed this actually and I’m not a liquid liner fan
  • Balm Dot Com, also nice but I’d only repurchase if I was making another order, it’s basically a tube of scented vaseline!
  • Vinylic lip, BE-AU-TI-FUL, the shade pony is an absolute delight!

Dislikes

  • Generation G lipstick, the shade Cake is just absolutely beautiful but the scent is awful, I couldn’t use it anymore
  • FutureDew, broke my out something awful no matter how little I used
  • Lipgloss, just meh, I found it really thick and sticky which I don’t like
  • Brow Flick, again a meh product, worked okay but just too much faff for me, I prefer just a tinted gel and go but is great for mimicking hair in lighter patches
  • Wowder, it’s okay but I’m not a loose powder fan, although the packaging is better than others I’ve tried!
ramarama · 29/07/2020 19:00

Generation G lipstick (mainly Zip, but in fact most of the colours!) It's the most successful lipstick I have tried to wear in years. Really subtle way to wear a bright lipstick without having to keep it immaculate all day

KingFredsTache · 29/07/2020 19:07

Oooh tell me more about Vinylic Lip - not seen that before!

Apparently (according to my guru Katie Jane Hughes Grin) you should only ever use brow flick while there is nothing else on your face, no skin care or anything, so do your brows first, because otherwise it doesn't really work. I like the look she gets with brow flick but it does look a bit of a faff!

curlytops21 · 29/07/2020 19:31

Ooh weegobshite (nice name btw) that's a great overview! The one thing i really want atm is the vinylic lip in Casino, so really glad to hear the good reviews. Adds to basket... I do fancy browflick too but as KingFredsTache says, it does look a bit of a faff. I also have watched Katie Jane Hughes use it and it does look great but i don't have that much time on my hands.

DefinatelyAWeeGobshite · 29/07/2020 19:48

Thanks! It’s from Line if Duty and I’ve been expecting someone to comment on my deliberate misspelling of “definately” but noone ever has!

Vinylic lips are so glossy, soft, comfortable, easy to wear and they have such a fruity scent! I need to order them in all colours!

TooMinty · 30/07/2020 08:59

Tried out my skin tint and concealer yesterday, very pleased with both. Skin tint is definitely very light coverage and felt much better than full foundation. Concealer was good on under eyes and a couple of spots. Might need proper colour correction for my nose though, looks quite red at the moment - possibly too much sun although in Scotland that seems unlikely 😊

Has anyone got their SPF, it was out of stock or I would have ordered some? Could do with one that goes well under makeup, my M&S face one doesn't seem to sink in enough.

JorisBonson · 30/07/2020 09:09

@TooMinty going off the Glossier theme but I got this one in my Birchbox and it's great, have out an order in for a bigger one. I have oily skin and this doesn't affect it at all.

JorisBonson · 30/07/2020 09:12

Good to hear about the Generation G lipstick, does it stay on well? I'm eyeing up Zip for my wedding - I usually wear Mac Ruby Woo but it's just too bright for what I'm wearing.

Thanks Joris! Does it work ok under make up? I probably also need to be patient and allow enough time for it to sink in...

JorisBonson · 30/07/2020 10:02

Yeah it's great! A little goes a long way and it sinks in lovely.

MaryLennoxsScowl · 30/07/2020 10:09

I’m expecting Skin Tint and the red-tinted balm to arrive today!

I got the pale pink balm with another order on a whim not expecting much - I was very loyal to Bert’s Bees - but it is actually great. I have dry pale lips that vanish if I don’t have something on them but get too dry with most lipsticks and this has some sort of oil in it that really helps it stay on.

I have also tried:
Generation G - Zip is brilliant, a gorgeous colour. The raspberry pink is crap - you have to rub it on as it’s so hard and it dries my lips.
Boy Brow - lives up to the hype. I’m on my second tube.
Mascara - I thought this was far too understated/natural until lockdown but now it’s just the right amount after wearing far less make-up.
Lidstar in olive green - meh. Same thing available elsewhere and the tube seemed half empty.
Cloud paint - love these. I have Haze and Storm, Storm is my favourite. I did get Dusk but gave it to a friend as the colour wasn’t great on me.
FutureDew - amazing mixed with foundation, a bit much on its own. I’m curious to try it with Skin Tint though when that arrives.
Stretch concealer - I think the shade I chose is a little too warm for me but the texture is incredible. It’s close enough that I wear it anyway but I’d try a different shade next time.
I had a sample of the perfume but didn’t like it - too powdery for me.

Ok everyone is raving about the milk jelly cleanser. How do you use it? What's so good about it? I do like a cleansing milk...

I got future dew because I wanted something to make my skin look glowy without foundation but I find it unexpectedly thick and heavy. Not sure how to make it work except on my cheekbones.

DariaMorgendorffer · 30/07/2020 23:12

Balm dotcom - adore them. They last ages for me, so worth the money.
Boy brow - love
Futuredew - love
Milky jelly - love
Priming moisturiser - love
Lip gloss in clear - love
Halocope - love

Cloud paint - I like, but it doesn't last on me.
Lidstar - so pretty, but really irritated my eyes.

Housewife2010 · 31/07/2020 07:30

Even though Glossier are targeted at the millennial, as a woman "in my prime" I do find their products excellent. Admittedly I have good skin, but I like their light perfected aesthetic. My favourite item is the stretch concealer. I use it every day under my eyes and around my nose. My first pot lasted two years of daily use. I'm now on my second.

Housewife2010 · 31/07/2020 09:43

By the way If you decide to order I've put my discount link on the promo board and would be very grateful.
