I wanted to love the Teva sandals I ordered

I ordered the hurricane drift in black and the Universal Original in white from ASOS.

I have size 6, wide feet.

I didn’t like the look of the hurricane drift as they were very plasticky, but they looked dreadful on. The Universal looked better but again, the footbed was a weird shape and stuck out round my foot. I should have taken a photo to demonstrate but I repacked them in horror and hot footed it to the post office for returning.

Are you meant to size down? Did I order the wrong styles/colours? The models online manage to make them look cool, I looked like a clown with a penchant for hiking. 😫

@Squiz81 I like the latest pair! I have some burgundy ones I bought to go backpacking around Central America about five years ago. Never thought of them as fashionable; they were just enough on the right side of hideous that I wasn't ashamed to wear them. Might have to dig them out again now they're back in style...

SmileyClare · 13/07/2020 11:22

They're just practical sandals I think you missed the memo that these are now achingly trendy! I don't get it either but at least it's a trend that's comfy.

Squiz81 · 13/07/2020 12:05

I’m jealous @itssquidstella I wanted burgundy or purple ones (a bit like one in photo - which Is from Instagram) but couldn’t find any 😬

myomy you are just sadly blind to the style and beauty of Tevas! It’s a look that people like and has become a thing. Loads of things that started out as practicality become fashion items - wellies, raincoats, north face parkas, birkenstocks, not to mention bags. In fact all clothing!

MulberryPeony · 13/07/2020 14:39

@Squiz81 mine have just been shipped so hopefully they’ll be here in a day or three.

Your latest pair look good.

I bought Teva Dozers (totally different look) when 8 months pregnant in a heatwave as they were all that would fit. They are the best sandals I have ever owned. I wore them all summer for 13 years, whilst in rivers and in the sea, walking miles, hiking. They went through the washing machine dozens of times. I can't get a replacement for love nor money. I find a pair in the US occasionally for ££. Ohhhh I loved them.

My0My · 14/07/2020 01:00

Yes. I get they are trendy for some people but there are other options and they are not Tevas. The ones in the Sunday Times were £200. That’s the point really. Not sure Tevas are the go to brand.

My0My · 14/07/2020 01:08

Vogue summer sandal edit does have white Tevas but it also has lovely ones that are similar by designers. Out of 39 sandals recommended around 5 are Teva style. So not that achingly hot! And at £50 bargain basement!

MulberryPeony · 14/07/2020 07:16

Not sure I get your point? Can’t we buy the £50 ones (or £20 ones in my case) to just dip our toes in the water and not be achingly hot ‘cause I’m not sure any of us think we look achingly hot in them anyway.

@Squiz81 my flatforms have arrived and they look super on my tiny feet which was what I was most worried about. ‘Styled’ with my super-comfy work from home jeans. The substantial flatform isn’t as noticeable when taking in the whole outfit iyswim. Also the pattern I think stops them looking too clown shoe. Very pleased with them (especially for the sale price) and it feels like I’m walking on marshmallows!

I have troublesome feet - narrow, not enough padding on the sole, flat footed etc.

I bought some Teva Kayenta sandals and they are by far and away the best sandals I've had.

I used to have to wear trainers if I was going to walk any distance at all but I can happily walk 3–4 miles in these Teva sandals, and I think they look nice on; I get a lot of compliments anyway!

vjg13 · 15/07/2020 17:49

Really pleased with these from Office for £25 delivered. They also have reduced Tevas.

Yes!! @MulberryPeony they look great, pleased they are comfy too. You’re right about the pattern, definitely not a clown shoe

Oooh they’re nice @vjg13 I might have to go and look on the Office website again. Even though I’m still waiting for confirmation they’ve received my return and a refund 😬

I love my tevas. Mine are purple patterned. So comfy, walk miles in them and they are super trendy, covers all bases for me.

Dizzybet74 · 17/07/2020 18:04

Just FYI you should allow 1 finger width between the end of your toe and the end of the sandal. I personally found the ladies sandals a bit on the narrow side and long at the toe point whereas the men's wider and more rounded.

bellocchild · 17/07/2020 19:47

Teva Tirra have worked very well for me, in several colours. People's feet vary enormously - what suits me may not suit you, and vice versa.

Are you sure those are Sanborn Squiz? When I google Sanborn Teva I get the prettier multi coloured ones with several thin straps (that I tried a couple of years ago and were too narrow). Do you have a link?
@Squiz81 I found your thread! I tried the originals with foam soles but found them very scratchy so they've gone back. Now I am wondering about these or these as they have that tough sole that should last years. I've had two pairs in the past that lasted 10 years plus like these. Patterned or plain...?
Hello @Elloello 🙂

That’s good to know they lasted so long, I hope mine do too! I think patterned 🤔
