What would you call this style? (With pics)

I’m really drawn to a certain kind of style....a slightly slouchy, comfy, almost off-duty-ballet style.
Being fair/blonde the muted colours really suit me, although I’m mostly drawn to a minimal ‘palette’ of grey, dusky pink, navy, black, white, etc.

You might suggest ‘Hush’ but past experience tells me their clothes don’t fit me well and the quality didn’t match the prices.

How would you describe this look, and what brands might you recommend for decent quality and price point?

It’s kind of a comfort-leisure style, slightly Japanese minimal, but also ballet/yoga-ish! I don’t like the more Hollywood off duty version of thst makes sense.....

Pics to follow.

Mint velvet and White company are both more muted tones and relaxed silhouette. Worth looking at cos and arket for loungewear but tend to be more structured.

Gwynfluff · 27/06/2020 14:33

Baukjen might have stuff too but I find them pricy.

Beatrixpotterspencil · 27/06/2020 14:34

Thanks, I agree, I do love white company even though I know they can be a bit beige and over priced!
Heard bad things about mint velvet on here,,,,,

For what it’s worth I’m 44, slim, 5’4, mid length blonde wavy hair. I don’t seem to suit wide or baggy bottoms (trousers or jeans).

What would you call it though?
I search and get ‘leisure luxe’ and the likes but it really isn’t.....it’s more subdued, not a lot of make-up, no bling...

Athleisure wear?

Beatrixpotterspencil · 27/06/2020 14:52

Possible!

Yoga chic? I think you could get that look in Gap. They've lots of similar looks on their website.

dudsville · 27/06/2020 14:57

I also think "athleisure", i was going to just say pyjamas but then the additional pics makes me this athleisure. I like the trouser/jumper combo of the one where the woman is looking out of a window or something.

Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket · 27/06/2020 15:00

Uniqlo?

JaneJeffer · 27/06/2020 15:01

Lounge wear.

quirkychick · 27/06/2020 15:05

The trouser jumper combo looks a lot like Celtic & Co, particularly their loungewear stuff. They are quite pricey, but good quality and have decent sales. I have a few pieces from them that have lasted years.

Not sure what you'd call it, yoga loungewear chic?

Beatrixpotterspencil · 27/06/2020 15:06

Thanks 😊

Sounds about right. I imagine a lot of these clothes could look a bit shapeless or messy if low quality. It’s difficult to find more robust versions, although I really do rate COS leisurewear and white company tees & vests.

I used to wear mainly cos although my environment changed a few years ago (rural, hiking) and I wear more practical, weather related stuff these days.
Don’t want to look scruffy though.
It’s a fine balance....

I would also call it Louge wear.

Alo Yoga do great sweatpants expensive but their sales are good. I have the motos, which are around 3 years old and wear them a lot. Quality is good much better than Hush.

It's basically how my sister in law dresses. She's a ballet dancer!

Lots of soft fabric but warm where appropriate and allowing movement. She has a lot of cashmere in winter and linen/cottons in summer. Cropped jumpers and funnel necks seem to feature heavily!

Beatrixpotterspencil · 27/06/2020 15:09

I do work from home (arts) and prefer comfy to structured.

There are a pair of lovely yoga pants at sweaty Betty that I want but am worried £70 is stupid money for what look like a better fitting pair of hush harems.

@ShowOfHands sounds like the right description of what I’m drawn to, but I’m not a dancer 😁 I also swap the cotton for wool in winter.

Thanks for links, am off to have a look!

Have you tried BAM? Super soft bamboo. I have a few pieces that wash and wash and stay looking great.

ShowOfHands · 27/06/2020 15:16

I've just asked her where she shops and she recommended proper fitness shops like Sweaty Betty as opposed to JD Sport type empires.

She said it's about fabric and cut and if the clothes are specifically designed with movement and keeping muscles warm in mind, you automatically get that kind of look so shop sports brands. She said TK Maxx is good sometimes if you have time to rummage.

RedBrownBrick · 27/06/2020 15:17

Posh loungewear. Will look great if you are slim and the clothes are expensive and made of natural fibres - less so otherwise!

NameChange84 · 27/06/2020 15:17

It’s just loungewear isn’t it?

NameChange84 · 27/06/2020 15:21

Oh and try lululemon. I wouldn’t personally dress like that out of the home or to nip to the corner shop but I have similar looking lululemon and ted baker loungewear that I’d be comfortable going to yoga or answering the door in.

fizzpopbang123 · 27/06/2020 15:21

This is my go to look! Also blonde, similar build if a bit taller and like the same colour palette.

I'd call it loungewear or leisurewear. Since lockdown I've noticed this has become a separate filter category on lots of websites which makes searching and spending easier. It's basically just posh, unbranded sports wear though. Lots of places to look, it's more about filtering out the right pieces.

I would recommend:
Cos - top of my list for style/quality/price point
Uniqlo
Sunspel
Varley
The Upside (they like a logo though)
Sweaty Betty
James Pearce
Gap

Have a look at Fashercise, My Gym Wardrobe and The Sports Edit for upmarket athleisurewear.

EmpressSuiko · 27/06/2020 15:21

It’s 100% loungewear.

emma6776 · 27/06/2020 15:21

I am wearing those Sweaty Betty yoga pants right now - I have them in khaki and beetle blue. They are so comfy! I tried the speckled looking black/white pair but they looked much cheaper than the others so sent them back. They’re not worth £80 as they’re man made rather than cotton, but I had a £25 off code and they’re definitely worth £55.
