What would you call this style? (With pics)

I’m really drawn to a certain kind of style....a slightly slouchy, comfy, almost off-duty-ballet style.
Being fair/blonde the muted colours really suit me, although I’m mostly drawn to a minimal ‘palette’ of grey, dusky pink, navy, black, white, etc.

You might suggest ‘Hush’ but past experience tells me their clothes don’t fit me well and the quality didn’t match the prices.

How would you describe this look, and what brands might you recommend for decent quality and price point?

It’s kind of a comfort-leisure style, slightly Japanese minimal, but also ballet/yoga-ish! I don’t like the more Hollywood off duty version of thst makes sense.....

Pics to follow.

@Puffalicious

Have you tried BAM? Super soft bamboo. I have a few pieces that wash and wash and stay looking great.
Thank you, not heard of this, will google :)

My first thought was Uniqlo.

Agree that BAM is also a good shout, and for nice sportswear look at Varley, Girlfriend Collective and Organic Basics

DJTanner · 27/06/2020 15:22

I agree with it being posh loungewear too. Or maybe Posh Casual? I love all the pictures you've posted, OP. I can imagine a nice chunky cashmere or wool wrap style cardigan would look great too with the yoga style pants.

This should get £25 off first purchases at Sweaty Betty for the pp who mentioned yoga pants (Or anyone who wants it)

Scandi loungewear? Minimalist hygge?

Pure collection might also be worth a look

Beatrixpotterspencil · 27/06/2020 15:25

@ShowOfHands, thanks for that, this does seem to describe what I’m after.
I do a lot of hill walking and hiking in warmer months (and some in winter too) and have just steadily grown away from ‘fashion-fashion’ if that makes sense.
I’m so used to my clothes being about my activity and environment these days that it’s hard to go back to high street stuff.

So I feel I’m looking for something soft, casual but well made for when I’m just out and about. And these particular textures, lines, colours do seem to suit me.

@Beatrixpotterspencil

I do work from home (arts) and prefer comfy to structured.

There are a pair of lovely yoga pants at sweaty Betty that I want but am worried £70 is stupid money for what look like a better fitting pair of hush harems.

These:

Unfortunately, I think spending a bit more is what elevates this look from sofa slob wear to something you'd leave the house in. As a PP said, it's about fabric and cut. That and colour. Matching "co ords" are all the rage at the moment, but it does actually make the outfit a whole lot smarter while still insanely comfortable.

Sweaty Betty do great sales and promo codes regularly. I think the new customer one is 15% at the moment. In fact of the spendy brands I listed above, you can get 20% off fairly regularly if you keep an eye out.

Luxe loungewear

Zara Home as opposed to Zara often has bits

Beatrixpotterspencil · 27/06/2020 16:22

Do oysho still exist/do decent quality?

OP posts:
Beatrixpotterspencil · 27/06/2020 16:24

Seems it does, but website appalling on my iPad, won’t load properly.

Oysho website might be misbehaving due to it being the first day of the sales here in Spain. They definitely have some stuff that fits your brief! Quality can be a bit hit or miss though. I have stuff that's lasted years and other stuff that hasn't survived a couple of washes.

Beatrixpotterspencil · 27/06/2020 16:45

@notasgreenasiamcabbagelooking I used to have a few things from there, but around 10 yrs ago. Quality was definitely hit or miss, but some stuff was so lovely.

Sports- luxe?
Utilitarian?
Lounge wear?
Tbh it's what I wear round the house all the time and I love a ballet wrap cardigan. The last few I got were from La Redoute - very soft/stretchy wool/elastanetype fabric.
I would struggle to know what to wear on feet though apart from trainers if I were to go outside - maybe sliders?

Beatrixpotterspencil · 27/06/2020 17:09

@JMAngel1 I’m usually in Nike’s for active (with leggings) or birks during summer. Also converse.

In winter I swap them for lace up docs or my doc Chelsea boots (flat).
The winter version swaps cotton for wool, or synthetic under layers/merino if I’m out hiking.
And waterproof stuff!

The more casual aspect suits summer really. But I don’t find it too difficult to adapt it to winter.
I used to struggle to adapt to winter when I wore dresses and skirts, but they just don’t work practically for me anymore, outside of occasions (weddings, etc).

I love this look too but have put on a bit of weight due to bad back and lockdown 🤣 I still want to wear things like this and look sassy not slobby 😂 I couldnt afford Sweaty Betty though. Anyone know of more affordable yet good quality brands? Xx

lockdownalli · 03/07/2020 10:09

Loungewear.

AnyFucker · 03/07/2020 10:20

Have you looked at Kley at Debenhams example here

They have a sale on at the moment and very affordable. They have that that muted, soft, slouchy vibe.

Bella2020 · 03/07/2020 10:25

Loungewear. It looks so comfy and would be ideal for me, now I think about it!

slinkysaluki · 03/07/2020 13:31

Loungewear

SeriouslyRetro · 03/07/2020 14:08

Loungewear.

I don't really know if it's for wearing out, maybe to the corner shop. Like a pp said What footwear do you wear with it? It's meant for slouching around at home barefoot or in slippers.

Loungewear is for lounging.

JaJaDingDong · 03/07/2020 18:53

Try Pull and Bear for a cheap version of what you're looking for. Their colours are what you like I think.
