Online colour analysis?

Nohero · 18/06/2020 10:38

Hello
I am struggling with figuring out my colour season. I have been analysed by an online service I paid for but I’m not convinced it’s right. I have done endless online quizzes but they come out with lots of different conclusions
I was planning to do an in-person analysis but obviously I can’t now. Does anyone recommend a colour stylist able to do online analysis or an accurate online tool?
Thanks!

No clue I’m afraid. Am shamelessly placemarking and bumping.

Nohero · 18/06/2020 15:15

Thanks, onekid, I feel less lonely now!

No idea, I have done it myself with the info in www.cardiganempire.com and I think I got it right. I have recently renewed my wardrobe and I feel so confident with the colours I have bought. But maybe I am just an easy type to diagnose...

Spam88 · 18/06/2020 15:33

There's a French woman in YouTube who has a few videos that make it very simple. I've completely forgotten her name...I'll have a look now.

bleughhh · 18/06/2020 15:33

Hmm. I've had it done in real life a few times and came out as three different seasons or types... So it very much depends on the consultant but I'd say it is pretty hard virtually, especially if you have coloured hair.

Spam88 · 18/06/2020 15:35

Justine Leconte! She has a few different videos on working out if you're cool or warm, then your season, then if you're soft, clear etc.

Onekidnoclue · 18/06/2020 16:02

I’ve tried the Justine Leconte video and am still confused. Think I need to accept I’m useless at this and get a pro on the case Sad

MehMehMeow · 18/06/2020 16:12

You’ll probably get posters recommended Styled by Susie, but having had one of their analyses done, I wouldn’t recommend it at all myself as it was very ‘scripted’ with very little personalisation and I don’t trust their advice. Unfortunately I think you’ll also struggle to get a reliable colour analysis unless in person. I’m guessing that you’ve tried holding different colours up to your face in daylight?

wetwiped · 18/06/2020 16:15

Agree with PP, I found Styled by Susie scripted and very impersonal.

Darkestseasonofall · 18/06/2020 16:16

I'm really into seasons at the moment, I think I'm a warm autumn and can't wait to update my wardrobe.
Post a photo and let us have a go at analysing you maybe

GrimDamnFanjo · 18/06/2020 16:23

If you are white then your wrist veins should show green for warm and blue for cool.
Eye colour?

piscis · 18/06/2020 16:28

Oh yes, Justine Leconte. At the beginning I was not sure if I was a autumn or spring and finally made a decision based on a video I saw of her! I’ll try to find it...
I don’t see how this could be done online, first of all the screen would have to be calibrated to display the colours very accurately. But even then if you have artificial light, good or bad natural light during the consultation will affect how they see your colours. I think it is very difficult to do it well online.

IdblowJonSnow · 18/06/2020 16:31

Would also like to know as I always get different outcomes. I cant even tell what colour my veins are (!) but I think my skin has yellowy tones although I'm very pale. My eyes are hazel and hair is a manky brown, if I try and go lighter it tends to go a bit brassy.
Think am warm.

NotMeNoNo · 18/06/2020 16:32

It looks like House of Colour have suspended colour consultations until they can be done in person (possibly at the same time as hairdressing?). When I had mine done it took quite a lot of time done in natural light and checking slightly different colours to get all the ratings. I would wait if I were you.

Some people have quite neutral colouring and could convince themselves they were in any season - I've got mid brown eyes, brown hair and fair skin, I came out as a Winter but people who don't look very different to me are in other seasons and I had self diagnosed myself as Autumn. I couldn't tell you whether my veins are green/blue, they are an indeterminate blue/green/grey to me.

frugalkitty · 18/06/2020 16:42

I would trust Styled by Susie, she says summers can wear black! I honestly don't think you can be sure if accuracy with an online service, but would recommend House of Colour if you can afford it once they reopen, as even within your season you'll have a subcategory depending on which colours in your palette are you best.

bleughhh · 18/06/2020 16:46

House of Colour (two different people) definitely got me wrong. Twice...

Ramalamalama · 18/06/2020 16:51

Hi, just jumping on as I’m trying to work out my colours too. The veins on my wrist are both purple AND bluey green (or greeny blue) - what does THAT mean?!

oceany · 18/06/2020 16:53

I've used www.colormepretty.co/ which I thought was good (and cheap)

MulberryPeony · 18/06/2020 17:21

Mac have an online lipstick app thing and there are lists of which lipsticks suit each season if you google. You can try them all on and then see if any of the seasons you it narrow down to have the right requirements for hair/eye colour or which celebrities you think you are most alike in terms of colouring. Some seasons I was able to cross out completely but I was struggling a bit with spring/autumn until I checked back to which celebrities were in each (and a lot of my wardrobe also pointed out which colours I tend to go for and/or are complemented on when wearing). I still wear some of the other seasons colours but you do tend to get a feel of which tone suits you better.

If you are brave enough I’m sure we could help as a starter for 10. The Mac online is free so nothing ventured nothing gained?

Ellapaella · 18/06/2020 18:57

Maybe we could help op? If enough of us agree on what season you are that might be a starting point. Only if you feel brave enough though. I'm not convinced an online analysis is worth paying for as skin tone can look so different on a photo compared to real life.

Nohero · 18/06/2020 19:35

Ooh don’t want to out myself so not sure I’m brave enough for a photo on here! But thanks for the offer.

It was SBS’ analysis I’m not convinced about. Also it’s by four seasons only with no differentiation into clear/deep etc, and that could make quite a big difference. I will definitely check out these links; I had thought an in-person analysis from HoC would be the best option, though it’s not very reassuring that PPs said they had different results from different stylists.

Thanks very much!

Boo! OP I was hoping you’d volunteer a photo, conveniently have exactly the same colouring as me an I’d skip along on your coat tails.

Nohero · 18/06/2020 21:52

Ha, onekid, perhaps you could volunteer!
