Online colour analysis?

Nohero · 18/06/2020 10:38

Hello
I am struggling with figuring out my colour season. I have been analysed by an online service I paid for but I’m not convinced it’s right. I have done endless online quizzes but they come out with lots of different conclusions
I was planning to do an in-person analysis but obviously I can’t now. Does anyone recommend a colour stylist able to do online analysis or an accurate online tool?
Thanks!

I found this site quite helpful.

Of people are willing to give ideas I'll stick my photo up. I have a fixed idea about what I think I am, but whether that's correct I don't know

Online colour analysis?

@Darkestseasonofall I’d say you are a Warm autumn

Darkestseasonofall · 19/06/2020 10:07

@piscis that what I think too, but I'm in denial as half my wardrobe is navy / grey / black Sad

Spam88 · 19/06/2020 10:09

I'd say autumn, no idea what subcategory.

Onekidnoclue · 19/06/2020 10:12

@Darkestseasonofall I’d say you were warm but tbh I was a bit distracted by your eyebrows. They’re such a nice shape!

Onekidnoclue · 19/06/2020 10:18

@HipTightOnions that’s the best site I’ve seen. Makes it much clearer. Thank you.

Darkestseasonofall · 19/06/2020 10:27

@onekidnoclue thanks! I can't take any credit for them, it's years of threading have given me the shape and I've just copied it during lockdown

Bluemoooon · 19/06/2020 10:35

I can definitely see what really doesn't suit me as I have grey shadows appear under my eyes and the lines beside my mouth. Also eg white makes my skin greyish.
Some things make my greyish eyes stand out green.

OP, Sit in daylight in front of a large mirror, so you can see the fabric and your face and hair and see if you can spot this on yourself. You could use anything coloured, towels, clothes, curtains etc.
Once you have spotted what makes you look bad, and how it affects your face, it's easier to spot what is good.

www.kettlewellcolours.co.uk/blog/jo/spring-explaining-the-different-types

If someone is a spring, here is an interesting website where they have an extra Spring subcategory (Paintbox spring), I thought that I was a Warm Spring, but now thinking if I could be in this Paintbox spring category as I definitely look good in cobalt blue! (It would be the only cold colour I‘d use though)

I am so happy to have sorted out my wardrobe in this way, as I now find that nearly everything goes with anything, even if they are different colours. I had a lot a lot of random clothes before and I couldn’t find what to wear. So, so, happy. Best thing I ever did.

I think that if you are in between seasons and are not sure, you can always find some colours, even if they are one or two, common to both seasons.

JMAngel1 · 19/06/2020 12:44

I know I'm spring but lord knows which - are there 3? Bright, True, Light? How does paintbox fit in?

bleughhh · 19/06/2020 13:36

Different sub categories in different systems. For Springs - true or bright or paintbox spring, light spring, blue spring in HoC (still better with warm tones but not too orange - i.e. veering towards more neutral colours), soft spring.

Springs are 'light and warm' - then 'soft' (or 'muted') or 'clear'. You combine depth of shade (light/deep), clarity/softness (clear=bright/soft=muted) and warmth or coolness (err, warm/cool). Springs have to be warm and light but the dominant bit can be light or warm. The clarity/softness varies.

I am a true summer in 12 blueprints system. (Other two summers in that system are light or soft.)

NotMeNoNo · 19/06/2020 14:16

I would put my money on warm toned, but the warmer end of summer would be possible as well as spring or Autumn. The thing is the seasons do blend so a deep Winter like me and deep Autumn have probably 50% of best colours in common.
This and accompanying pages helpful in this regard.

Plancina · 19/06/2020 14:22

I found Styled by Susie quite impersonal also - lots of copied and pasted word documents and PDFs. They said I am a winter which I think is correct though, I think I overlap into autumn as some autumn colours definitely work well for me. I would wait and have one in person when they reopen

Budapestpest · 19/06/2020 15:12

Forget veins.
First drape white and then cream against your face, unless you’re neutral one should look a lot better than the other. White equals cool, summer or winter. Cream is warm, autumn or spring.
The rest is about brights or muted.
So winters will look better in bright pinks, greens, blues etc. The colours have to be strong and clear. Summers will be more muted dusky pinks and blues. Strong colours will be too much for a summer.
Same with warms, spring is brights like peacock blue, coral whereas autumn is muted khakis, navy, beige.
That’s a kind of at home shortcut of the HOC process but it works. If you find out warm or cool then brights or muted that’s it. Look at the hoc colour wheel on google which shows the colours for each season and drape them to your Face if you have anything in those colours once you have done the white and cream

JMAngel1 · 19/06/2020 16:56

So these links have helped me to work out I'm light spring.
I would love to get some short sleeved v neck t shirts in violet, periwinkle, stone and camel.

Where would I find them in the correct shades - a Google search has yielded not very much.
Do you guys just go out with your swatches and hope you find somthing you like in the right shade? It all seems a bit inefficient?

JMAngel1 · 19/06/2020 17:00

Wierdly I have gravitated towards light spring with my current wardrobe so that's good. I have mostly dusty rose pinks, camels, peachy corals and I've just realised my favourite linen shirt is periwinkle.
My favourite maternity dress from years ago was violet and I remember at the time strangers stopping me in the street to tell me how well the colour suited me - clearly thus colour analysis must workSmile

Bella2020 · 19/06/2020 18:09

A stylist called Justine Wase, of Jus Your Style, did a colour analysis online for me. I filled in a questionnaire and then we had a Zoom meeting. I received a report with colour recommendations for clothes & make up. I found Justine via Instagram

bleughhh · 19/06/2020 20:58

I agree - ignore veins. White vs cream is a good start! Then maybe pinks?

Have a look at this to get an idea:

Nohero · 19/06/2020 21:45

Hmmm I like both white and cream on me but I’ll look more closely with the draping method...Perhaps I have an inflated sense of self and neither look good! Grin

I watched a video yesterday which made it simple , look at your skin does it have links and reds or is it white with a bluish cast . What colour are your eyes are they blue or green or a chocolate . Anything that reminds you of winter is cool and summer warm. If you're a kid you're neutral
