I really do have dry everything. Hair, facial and body skin and even dry cracked heels. Skin and heels I know how to manage Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise!

I've never cracked my dry hair - particularly the ends.

Oils - no difference
Elasticiser- very minor difference
Sulphate, paraben free shampoo and conditioner- zilch difference
No conditioner- no difference
Expensive shampoos - no
Cheap shampoos- no
Heat protectant- no

Can anyone enlighten me please.

Many thanks

Have you tried Garnier Hair food, in the pot? I bought the papaya one last week and have used it twice so far, leaving it for about an hour or so. I've really noticed a difference.

Whoopsmahoot · 17/06/2020 23:25

REN conditioner. You name it I’ve tried it but this one is brilliant.

Fozzleyplum · 17/06/2020 23:25

Garnier hair food is the best conditioner for my dry hair. It's desperately in need of a cut at the moment (whose isn't), and I'm keeping it hydrated at the ends by rubbing Nivea soft between my hands, then working it into the dry bits of my hair. It's surprisingly effective.

I've gotten in really well with As I Am - coconut cowash cleansing conditioner- from Amazon

As I Am Coconut CoWash Cleansing Conditioner 16 oz./454 g https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00641UCY8/ref=cmswwrcppapiii_3PP6Eb970QT2Y

Moroccan oil hair masks are fab. Garner Banana hair mask also very good as are the Shea Moisture ones.

Atomsaway · 18/06/2020 09:30

Start taking a fish oils supplement. I have noticed a huge difference since I started taking them. Also, drink more water.
Treat from the inside out! Smile

Watching with interest. It’s so tempting to splash out on something expensive. I tried one called Osmo as it had rave reviews but it did sod all.
I’ve done keratin treatments at home - which are more reconstructing than moisturising, but they’re such a faff.
Oh I’ve remembered one, olaplex 3. That can make a difference.

YoureBreakingMyHeartCecilia · 18/06/2020 10:02

Following with HUGE interest OP I am the same. Currently using a tiny sample of a v v pricey Oribe hair mask and annoyingly it’s brilliant, makes a visible difference. But the actual product is almost £70!!! Need something cheaper...

TheCanterburyWhales · 18/06/2020 10:04

Macadamia mask from Allbeauty. There are two macadamia ranges. The one with the economy size pot of mask is an absolute game changer.

chubbyhotchoc · 18/06/2020 10:12

Try hairpeutix overnight treatment.
www.hairextensionsbff.com/product/hairapeutix/
It's for extensions but you can use it on normal hair. Hair extensions get super dry because they don't get any natural oils.
Also bit if a weird one but if you buy a box of nutrisse hair dye, the bottle of conditioner that comes with it is amazing. You can buy the dye less than £5 so it's cheap for an intensive conditioner even if you're chucking the dye.

L'Oréal colour protect mask in the red tub is amazing

CocoLoco1921 · 18/06/2020 10:15

Egyptian magic and shea butter.

Greenvalleymama · 18/06/2020 10:30

Everyone will recommend something different that's worked for them, not obviously everyone's hair is different so it might not work for you. It sounds like you've tried loads of things already.
You need to find out if your hair needs moisture or protein, and then give it want it needs most. I found this little info sheet but you can google and find out a lot more about moisture vs protein for hair, hopefully then you'll be on track to working out what your hair needs.

Greenvalleymama · 18/06/2020 10:30

Forgot the info sheet!

I never knew my dry hair could be related to protein deficiency @Greenvalleymama. Thank you for the table!

You're welcome! There is a DIY gelatin hair mask you can make for hair needing protein, my hair felt amazing after using it. I'm sure it was just a packet of gelatin in warm water and a small amount of apple cider vinegar, but if you Google it you'll get the full details. Gelatin contains protein in its most 'available' form. You can also search for before and after gelatin mask photos and see the difference for yourself before trying it.

redorbed · 18/06/2020 21:03

Try L'Oréal colour mask amazing stuff

userxx · 18/06/2020 21:22

Kerastace, pricey but worth it.

321youreback · 18/06/2020 21:32

Start drinking more water and less caffeine /alcohol /fizzy stuff and this will make a difference ( obviously won't if you do all this anyway!)

MimosaFields · 19/06/2020 07:54

This is what works for me. I first bought it in Israel a while ago and now I buy it online. Worth every penny

This is a leave in conditioner, it has really worked for me. It’s a great product.

REVLON PROFESSIONAL Uniq One Coconut Hair Treatment 150ml www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01BLEIR30/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_4ig7EbJ9DTFRY?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

MerryDeath · 19/06/2020 14:48

i would start reading ingredients. boring but A LOT more relevant than the shite sold to you by the marketing people.

Zoey92 · 19/06/2020 14:51

Id also recommend making sure you're using a sulphate free shampoo.

Revlon Uniq one spray leave in treatment.
Osmo Wonder 10 leave in treatment
Olaplex No.3

TheDogsMother · 19/06/2020 14:55

My personal and reasonably inexpensive trilogy - John Frieda Miraculous Recovery shampoo then conditioner from the same range followed by Charles Worthington Leave in Conditioner. Occasional Philip Kingsley Elasticiser treatment.

DesperateNan · 19/06/2020 19:25

My biggest success has been with Aphogee 2 step protein treatment. Better for me than olaplex and much cheaper. I use it monthly and use aphogee 2 min reconstructor between treatments instead of conditioner. It has got rid of the strawy feel and appearance and it doesn’t set off my sensitive scalp.
