I need sandals and have plantar fasciitis

Just that really.

I have wide feet, corns, bunions and plantar fasciitis.

I need some summer shoes/sandals soon or else my hot, fat, sweaty, painful, little feet will be very screaming at me soon.

I can't wear toe posts or high heels, the sandals have to be secure (no mules or 'slides') and look reasonable with opaque black pop socks.

Or, I could wash my feet when I get into work and put on a pair of pop socks.

Due to nature of my job, I have to wear hosiery. Long story.

I'm prepared to pay up to £50 for a half decent pair, or higher if they are they are more than half decent.

Can anyone suggest anything?

Amazon keeps showing me white specialist Crocs 🤯

Look at the fit flops that have a closed toe, open sides and an ankle strap. I was planning to buy some for work this summer but since I won't be going into the office I can manage with just my birkinstocks.

I wouldn't recommend sketchers for plantar fasciitis, walking in sketchers caused mine and I won't buy them again. Birkinstocks are brilliant though, I would wear them as much as you can, fit flops are comfy but not quite so supportive.

Also read up on strengthening your feet and working towards barefoot shoes.

OP... Fitflop 'cova' is a covered toe sandal.

ExpletiveDelighted · 30/05/2020 11:40

I think Croc flip flops caused mine.

ChittyChittyBoomBoom · 30/05/2020 11:46

Birkenstock’s were awful for me but Crocs were brilliant!
Since my PF healed I’m always careful about what shoes I wear. Fit flops (shoes and sandals) have never caused a flare up.

ExpletiveDelighted · 30/05/2020 12:15

Mine is better now so I can wear Crocs with caution but when I had only just recovered from it the fasted way to set it off again was crocs (I keep a ballet pump style pair for popping out into the garden).

Sketchers. I have the walking sandals and prettier sandals but not the ones with bling. They have saved my feet. I can comfortably walk for miles and miles and don't suffer for it afterwards.

Travispickings · 30/05/2020 13:04

Birkenstocks. I have insoles for other shoes too but Birkenstocks have a really good footbed. Most comfy shoes out there.

A family member found Hotter shoes by mistake, but is now convinced that they actually cured her PF. Grin
I used to see their little pamphlets on magazines and thought they look a bit old and frumpy mostly, but the family member buys different styles and they look great in real life. Maybe worth a look for summer sales.

For me, in winter I like Camper for boots, It feels like you are walking on clouds. Though not too sure on their scandals style - so that will depend on individual choice (they do tend to look better in real life tbf). Very Pricey, but it's worth looking at their sales. I always buy here or Geox for DC. Worth looking into every now and again to see if any bargain/sale can be found. Also eBay may have some new shoes from these brands sold cheaper at smaller shops. Good quality, lasts long, so good investment.

Good luck

I would say get yourself some Birkenstock's I have lots of feet problems and these are a big help to me.

averythinline · 04/06/2020 18:44

On fit flops how is the sizing on Birkenstock's I'm a 40 but most others a 7? The site isn't the clearest!

Lovelivingbythebeach3 · 04/06/2020 18:52

Hotter sandals, expensive but last for years, and I wear them every day for work.

Never seen anything more divisive than Skechers for PF but wearing Skechers healed mine and they're all I can wear now , pain free !

LellyMcKelly · 04/06/2020 22:44

I’ve had plantar fasciitis and Flyflot shoes worked for me. The best shoes I ever owned.

Another vote for Vionics here. They have cushioned soles with plenty of arch support. If you are used to orthotics then it won't take long to adjust to wearing Vionics. I like the support of Birkenstocks too, but I find they are harder underfoot. If you look on eBay you can get last seasons stock at a discount, £45-£50 including postage.
