I need sandals and have plantar fasciitis

Gingernaut · 28/05/2020 19:56

Just that really.

I have wide feet, corns, bunions and plantar fasciitis.

I need some summer shoes/sandals soon or else my hot, fat, sweaty, painful, little feet will be very screaming at me soon.

I can't wear toe posts or high heels, the sandals have to be secure (no mules or 'slides') and look reasonable with opaque black pop socks.

Or, I could wash my feet when I get into work and put on a pair of pop socks.

Due to nature of my job, I have to wear hosiery. Long story.

I'm prepared to pay up to £50 for a half decent pair, or higher if they are they are more than half decent.

Can anyone suggest anything?

Amazon keeps showing me white specialist Crocs 🤯

I feel your pain @Gingernaut , it's bunion central here and plantar fasciitis.

I have invested in Birkenstocks and have heard that Fit Flops are meant to be very good too. Avoid all thin flat flip flops, the pain in the evenings is unimaginable Blush

PinglePongle · 28/05/2020 22:23

Fitflops neoflex sandals and also using elastic foot straps got me around theme parks in Florida for 2 weeks. Worth investing in a foot roller too after heavy days to help stretch the arch and massage

notapizzaeater · 28/05/2020 22:25

Fit flops are the only things that helped mine, sandals in summer, boots in winter

TheKrakening3 · 28/05/2020 22:25

I only wear Vionics now. Birkenstocks made my PF so much worse.

Yet another vote for Fitflops... changed my life last summer; the previous summer was plantar hell 😭 I've got four pairs, all bought in sales (trainers, flip flops, sandals)

Gooseysgirl · 28/05/2020 22:32

Skechers are definitely a no-no

fiftyandfat · 28/05/2020 22:39

I live in crocs throughout the summer. Not the big ugly ones, the simple, non toe post sandals. I suffer terribly from foot pain and have wasted so much money on shoes I can't wear. I have 3 pairs of identical croc sandals (black, navy and silver) and they have lasted me 4 years. No sign of wear. I just wash them from time to time.
I have flat feet, bunions and morton's neuroma. Very attractive. Blush

Have a look at mariaota. They have a massive selection of wide fit sandals and will be well within your budget. They're not the most amazing quality but they do the job

fitflops. They are the only shoes that have worked for me.

OhTheRoses · 29/05/2020 06:36

Best thing I did was to have orthotics made. Not needed in vionics.

Some Gabor, Hotter, Clarks shoes have a removable insole and they pop underneath. I go up a size in my winter boots and a full sized orthotic sole works perfectly.

My physio recomended it after I broke my foot. Works wonders for back pain too.

CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 29/05/2020 08:20

Vionics. I have some of their shoes as well. Pricey but worth every penny.

Gingernaut · 29/05/2020 12:57

Thank you everyone.

I do have orthotics, but trying to find sandals that don't need them is a pain in the heel. Literally.

I'll keep all suggestions in mind and carry on looking.

Honestly you need to check out Calla Shoes - their shoes are specially designed for bunions (but they're stylish) and all shoes have cushioned and arch supported insoles and wide toe boxes.
Their founder recently did a blog post about how she suffered with plantar fasciitis and their flat shoe was the only thing she could wear to get rid of the pain. They have some sandals which have arch support and a stretch panel so perhaps they might be good for your needs, the sandal is called laura. callashoes.co.uk/collections/sandals/products/laura-tan-leather

Honestly these shoes are so comfortable and actually look great too

For wearing tights though the flat shoes will be the best bet. callashoes.co.uk/collections/flats/products/charlotte-black-suede I have 3 pairs in different colours and swear by them

The other thing that has really helped me, another tip from my physio, is to buy good, supportive slippers. She said there's no point investing in the right shoes if you spend 2/3 hours a day and most weekends in sloppy slippers.

Vionics and fit flops sell slippers and are worth every penny. I wear Josef Siebel Betsy clog as a house shoe now. Yes they are expensive but they last for years.

ThursdayLastWeek · 30/05/2020 08:37

I have some fitflops sandals that would fit your requirements for style etc.

I like Birkenstocks for around the house, slippers and plastic flip flops.

The best thing I ever did for my PF was go and see a sports physio!

LadyEloise · 30/05/2020 09:10

There is no support in Skechers memory foam. Sad

These are the sandals I have - in built orthotics & so comfortable. My slippers & flip flops are FitFlop.

[quote Sportycustard]I have PF and I am finding these very comfortable

I have last years version of these and also have PF and they are brilliant.

BestIsWest · 30/05/2020 10:55

I’m convinced Skechers caused my Plantar Fasciitis.

nancy75 · 30/05/2020 10:58

Vionics or strive footwear
