Another trouser question: do you think it's ok for a SAHM to wear jeans every day, or just boring?

I don't mean scraggy saggy crappy jeans with a shapeless t-shirt & rubbish bra, but good, well-fitting, flattering (hopefully) ones in various styles, worn with different tops? Before I became a SAHM I worked in a creative industry & always made an effort to look nice (tho not spectacularly trendy or anything). These days (I have 2 small boys) jeans are just so practical - they go with everything & I just have to add a groovy top or little jacket & I'm there. I cycle most places so...

But am I just being really really dull & fortysomething? What would Trinny & Tranny do ?!

I think it's ok for a SAHM to wear anything you like - even crappy saggy jeans. Your children don't judge and anyone else out doesn't matter - of course if you feel happier dressing up a bit then go for it, clothes are there to make you feel good.

Oh my god! I'm supposed to be making an effort?? I am currently just rotating the primark clothes I bought post birth cos nothing else fitted me. Surprise! I am still wearing them 6 months post birth.

I sorted through my wardrobe yesterday and it seems my SAHM uniform is jeans, denim skits and combats - I went looking for some other skirts today but got no inspiration.

Oh and can not afford boden and can not fit in to primark

It sounds like it would make you feel happy to wear some different things, but that's the only reason I would do. WIth things like this, you notice that you have jeans on every day far more than anyohne else would notice about you.

no need to go madly skirty if you don't want to though - get some jean-cut cords or khakis

Not sahm, but I do wear jeans a lot, or black trousers whether at home or work.

Could never see myself wearing cords or khakis, tbh.

And yep, I'm happy to be known as boring.

I can't bear to wear jeans every day. In the summer I wear loads of dresses or skirts and smart longish shorts, generally with ballet style pumps. Now it is getting cooler, I have skirts/dresses with tights and long boots, or wide legged trousers, with mock shirt/jumper combination, or polo neck etc.

Why on earth would anyone give a toss what you wear when you are at home.

I take off work clothes and go into full 'fatastichav' mode, hair scrunched back, makeup off, dodgy track bottoms and slippers. Proper trailer trash me

Can't see a problem if you are comfortable. Personally I wear very little (if anything!) when I'm at home - at most, a thong and vest - but again, that's what I'm comfortable in so each to their own.

The thing is, I probably do get a bit bored of them - I've got so many lovely trousers & skirts from my working days which I just never wear 'cause I think, What's the point? Also, it takes more time to put the outfits together. I almost always wear a bit of make-up though. I have a bit of an ishoo with skirts as I hate my legs & have only recently found a company which makes knee-high boots I can zip up. & skirts can be hard to cycle in.
But as someone pointed out, noone probably notices what I wear anyway, apart from me!

Jeans, cords, black trousers, denim skirt.

I bought these trousers and they are a good alternative to jeans. They are very comfortable as they are a bit stretchy. Don't think they are particularly denim effect, more of a cotton twill. I absolutely love them!!

I'm a sahm and have jeans ,combats and the odd skirt and do wear jeans most days,not scraggy ones.
I don't find it boring as i have a few different cuts of jean ie boyfriend,bootcut,wide leg and cropped turn up ones
So if I'm having a slouchy day its the boyfriend jeans with a long-sleeved hooded t-shirt and trainers
and if it's a 'make an extra special effort' day then its my best bootcuts with a nice top/jumper and boots and jewellery.

A thong and vest!!?

If you have loads of skirts and trousers from working days, why not where them? If and when you go back to work, you'll want a new up to date wardrobe anyway.
