What are the things you've done that helped your SKIN the MOST?

Mine are (after years of experimentation!):

  1. Vitamin D
  2. Good amount of sleep
  3. Eating avocado
  4. Not eating too much sugar or dairy
  5. SPF
  6. Drinking lots of water

Let's share our knowledge :)

OP posts:

Got pregnant. Seriously, 20 years of acne and pregnancy fixed it.

userabcname · 17/05/2020 16:05

Taking an omega 3 supplement.
Avoiding alcohol (I do still drink it but skin looks better when I don't).

AnaViaSalamanca · 17/05/2020 16:06

reducing salt in addition to what is already mentioned

TwilightPeace · 17/05/2020 16:08

Lots of water
Sleep
Low sugar
Low stress
Using coconut oil to remove makeup AND moisturise
Stop using cleansers and acid things

PrincessMaryaBolkonskaya · 17/05/2020 16:09

No smoking or drinking Sad Plenty of water. No sun.

PurpleDaisies · 17/05/2020 16:10

Started eating more vegetables.
Changed my skincare to Superdrug naturally radiant range.
Lots of properly sweaty exercise.

Zebramumma · 17/05/2020 16:12

Cutting out dairy. Acne throughout my teens and early twenties, tried every lotion, potion & medication. Over the counter & prescribed. Nothing worked.
One month dairy free (which was for gastro issues) and my skin was clear, it was amazing.

Now I can tolerate small amounts, but if I have too much I get an outbreak.

Dirky · 17/05/2020 16:14

Oily fish
Water
Sleep
SPF 50 - every day of year

Piratetree · 17/05/2020 16:17

Double cleansing every evening and using a gentle toner afterwards

Using factor 50 on face

Avoiding mineral oils and silicones. It took me a very long time to figure out that these two ingredients were what my skin hated!

RockThrills · 17/05/2020 16:18

Loads of water
Products with vitamin C
SPF in foundation/BB/CC creams

Bilingualspingual · 17/05/2020 16:19

Giving up alcohol. Smile

cheezy · 17/05/2020 16:20

I think the acidic stuff I have on overnight makes a difference. Good moisturiser during the day (I use astral) and SPF.

Lottapianos · 17/05/2020 16:21

Agree with all of yours OP, along with

Exercise
Stopped smoking
Double cleansing every evening
Glycolic acid

fuckinghellthisshit · 17/05/2020 16:24

Differin
Miraculous

KellyHall · 17/05/2020 16:26

A healthy, balanced diet
Baking cakes instead of buying them
Giving up smoking
Giving up drinking
Limiting sugar
Fresh air
Exercise
Drinking lots of water
Not washing my face every day

tinselvestsparklepants · 17/05/2020 16:27

Lockdown - no makeup. Only used to put foundation on problem areas but since I've stopped putting anything there the problem areas have gone. Considering going back to only mascara once we're back 'out.'

FruChoc · 17/05/2020 16:30

Cleansing morning/night
Quit sugar
Min drinking of alcohol
SPF every day

bluefoxmug · 17/05/2020 16:39
  • losing weight/keeping a healthy weight
  • cleaning with bar soap
  • spf
  • good diet&sleep
  • exercise, I'm convinced the extra blood to my skin tomato red after a run helps with good skin
JoeExoticsEyebrowRing · 17/05/2020 16:42

Stopping the Mirena coil has by far been the best thing in terms of spots.

However, for the glowy skin it has been:

Taking vitamins
Glycolic acid toner ever other day
Hyluaronic acid on damp skin followed by a bit of moisturiser (I use Weleda Skin Food and it's luuuush!)

Have also started using SPF which hasn't made an actual difference as such, but will hopefully have long term benefits.

Bumfuzzled · 17/05/2020 16:48

Sulphur soap - worked wonders on my rosacea.
Drinking lots and lots of water and cutting down on caffeine and alcohol.
Not losing too much weight. Being really slim makes my skin look old. Half a stone over where in my head I think I should be really makes me look much younger.
Eating healthy fats such as olive oil, avocado and nuts are wonderful for your skin and general health. Don’t eat anything that is labelled low fat, it’s all crap.

SmoothAvocado · 17/05/2020 16:54

Thanks everyone so far!
@JoeExoticsEyebrowRing loving your username lol what hyluaronic acid brand do you use?

Lottapianos · 17/05/2020 17:07

'Don’t eat anything that is labelled low fat, it’s all crap.'

God, so true. If something is supposed to have fat in it naturally, eat the real version, just dont eat tons of it

Keeping it simple, too many products just clog my skin! I Use exfoliating gloves - on body and face. Gently on face. I use them with Childs farm unscented shampoo! Yes, odd, but it's surprisingly nourishing for face and body. (I have combination skin) I don't get that 'tight' skin feeling after a shower with this stuff. I use it on my body with the gloves too and usually don't need to moisturise body afterwards. Not letting facial skin dry out after a shower is important. Put your face products on soon after getting out. There's no 'actives' in it but I just use E45 Daily lotion and it keeps my face soft & supple. I use it right up to my lashes with no problems. It makes a great makeup base and is very affordable. When I'm not wearing makeup I use a collagen eye cream. Dr Pierre Ricaud Collagenes Lift 3D. It can be used right up to the lashes too. Occasionally I use Camellia oil on face and body, it's very light with no smell and good around the eyes too. It's a good 'anti-aging' one.

ElleL · 17/05/2020 17:41

Also using SPF around the eyes in summer. Evy and I think UltraSun (check as they've changed their formula) can be used safely in that area.

timetest · 17/05/2020 18:02

Retin a and spf50.
