Do you tie your hair back for bed?

My hair is growing, it's the longest I have had since primary school. Am I supposed to tie it back for bed? I have to admit it pisses me off when I wake up with it all over my face. If I tie it up though the bobble falls out or leaves a crease. Stupid hair.Hmm

I have long hair, I put it in a loose plait for bed, keeps it out of the way but isn't as sticky-out as a ponytail so doesnt annoy me. It also doesnt leave a kink.

OccasionalNachos · 12/05/2020 08:50

I put it in a high bun/knot so it’s easier to sleep

MsChatterbox · 12/05/2020 08:54

On hair wash night I go to bed with wet hair in a plait. On other nights I put it in a loose bun at the top of my head. I usually wake up with a looser bun somewhere else on my head but it's still comfy to sleep in. I couldn't sleep with it down I would feel trapped by hair! Also the oils would probably give me spots.

Flippinfurloughed · 12/05/2020 08:56

Ooh I’ve been having same dilemma! I can only sleep with it in a loose plait, a bobble on my head makes me soooo in comfy in the night. Pigtails are also acceptable - just nothing that needs a bobble to be tight!

TeacupDrama · 12/05/2020 08:59

My hair is long bra back length I sleep with it loose every night it is absolutely fine for the past 50 years

LettuceP · 12/05/2020 09:03

I've never considered tieing my hair back to sleep. Mine is elbow length but has been longer in the past and I've always worn it down for bed.

NameChange84 · 12/05/2020 09:03

Mine is super long. What I find most successful is a loose high bun with one of those non slip coiled bands or a silk non slip sleep cap which I got in the Black Haircare Section of a drugstore in the US. I’m sure they’d be easy to purchase here online. Velvet scrunches work well too as they don’t slip. I got a multipack very cheaply in H&M.

BambooWhoosh · 12/05/2020 09:04

I have to put my hair up or it is too annoying. I was using elastic hair bands but have now switched to the curly 'invisibobble' type. I find that they grip my fine hair better and I don't have to tie it so tightly.

WitchDancer · 12/05/2020 09:08

My hair is almost bum length so if I sleep with it loose it wraps itself around my throat. Maybe it's trying to strangle me. I put it in a loose pony tail just below my neck with a scrunchie and it sort of behaves itself.

daisydaisydoodle · 12/05/2020 09:14

Yes mine is probably midway down my back

totallyyesno · 12/05/2020 09:17

I put dd's into a loose plait otherwise we have to spend 30 minutes detangling it.

titsbumfannythelot · 12/05/2020 09:22

I sleep with a high pony tail in as I have dermatitis on my neck and the doctor advised to tie it up to keep as cool as possible.

AngusThermopyle · 12/05/2020 09:25

Since menopause, hot flushes etc, I tie my hair in a loose side plait. I have just past bra strap length hair but it's not thick so I'm glad of that Smile. When i take the hairband out in the morning I seem to have a nice soft wave which works for me.

homemadecommunistrussia · 12/05/2020 09:28

hmm not sure I'm going get on with it. Long hair aways seems to need to be controlled. It looks rubbish most of the time just hangs there. Then blows in my face or makes my neck sweaty, what is the point?
My hairdresser will have a fit if I ask her to cut it off, it's taken me years to grow it.Grin

I can't stand having hair all over my face when I'm trying to sleep. Mine is really thick and right down my back so I throw it up into a loose bun

Pinkarsedfly · 12/05/2020 09:43

I have a silk sleep turban. I look fucking ridiculous but my hair looks great when I wake up and it keeps me cool.

I don’t wear it every night. I’d heal over.

1wokeuplikethis · 12/05/2020 09:43

I have curly hair down my back and can’t stand to have it down at night, gets stuck underneath me and causes frizz. I tie it in a loose sort of blah thing at the base of my neck because it’s so heavy and tight or high buns cause the hair at the front to pull and that’s irritating.

inwood · 12/05/2020 09:46

Lose plait or a high loose bun.

JollyGiraffe12 · 12/05/2020 10:03

Loose plait for me too

OddBoots · 12/05/2020 10:06

High loose bun with a soft scrunchy for me.

Tulipstulips · 12/05/2020 10:08

I never tie it up to sleep - can't stand the feeling when I'm trying to sleep. But then I take all jewellery etc off too, and can't sleep wearing socks etc.

Ingridla · 12/05/2020 10:10

Mine is bra strap length and I tie it in a loose high ponytail which by morning is a very loose mess but it's better than a tight knot which causes kinks and discomfort when switching positions.

Swiftier · 12/05/2020 12:23

I have a hair turban. If I don’t keep it tucked away it looks messy by the morning, plus DH often ends up laying on it and I have to prise it out from underneath his arm/shoulder/head Confused

AnotherMurkyDay · 12/05/2020 13:24

I wear a band at the front to keep it off my face, sometimes I plait it if I can be bothered. If I tie it back it will come out.

risefromyourgrave · 12/05/2020 14:27

I definitely recommend a sleep turban. It keeps your hair out of your face and mine ends up so much smoother in the morning than when I sleep without one.
