I keep doing variations on this thread, still haven't found anything nice ...

Nothing remotely parka-related please, something pretty

(I have an old black Next duffle coat but am utterly depressed by it)

OP posts:

Yup, we've definitely done this before.

It doesn't exist

MrsBadger · 16/09/2007 18:32

[bangs head on wall]

pretty-coloured parka
pretty but no hood
ditto

to be honest closest you'll get

marthamoo · 16/09/2007 18:35

I think the Boden one's closest too - I almost bought one last year but the pattern is just too in-yer-face.

MrsBadger · 16/09/2007 18:48

order the ivory and settle in for the 8wk wait

newgirl · 16/09/2007 18:49

if boden did those in chocolate or grey or black they would sell zillions!

MrsBadger · 16/09/2007 18:50

and for less than £80...

I think its better just to get wet imo.

No such thing as a nice looking mac.

bran · 16/09/2007 19:05

Depending on what type of pushchair you have it's possible to use and umbrella and push. I used to use one of these with my Urban Detour because I could walk sort of leaning forward over the handlebar. I used to hook the umbrella handle under the pushchair handle and then I could wrap one hand around both of them at the same time.

Hooded coat = can't see when crossing the street

What you need is a baseball cap!

MaureenMLove · 16/09/2007 19:10

I was just going to make that point! Your head turns, but the hood doesn't! Get youself a range of hats!

smoggie · 16/09/2007 20:41

I got one......from Zara last year. Black, showeproof, hood, nipped in waist, detatchable inner wooly lining so you can wear from Autumn through winter.
Also saw one similar in Laura Ashley last week. here www.lauraashley.com/invt/ct315darkprussianp&bklist= it's almost identidal to mine(mine doesn't have full belt just side ones)

Now come on - bow at my feet. Isn't this just what you are looking for????

smoggie · 16/09/2007 20:59

come on, I know it doesn't have Boden-esque 'fun spots' or 'applique' but isn't it just what you need?
Oh bugger - here I am with my amazing discovery and I've gone an killed the thread.

MrsBadger · 16/09/2007 21:13

'shower proof'

yajorome · 16/09/2007 21:20

If you want practical, what about this?

I found the perfect mac for me, on sale but missing a belt so I didn't buy it. I should have bought it, sob. It was last season's and I can't find it anywhere else.

smoggie · 16/09/2007 21:21

it's a kind of thick nylon type material that does repel water - admittedly not a torrential downpour.
OK, minor failing that it's not totally waterproof, but it's getting close isn't it?

smoggie · 16/09/2007 21:22

yajarome - like it in the red or green.

Pannacotta · 16/09/2007 22:18

I bought one of these
www.millets.co.uk/millets.storefront/product/041470.aspx?breadcrumbs=MIL%20SS06%20Womens%20Clothing; MIL%20SS06%20Womens%20Jackets;MIL%20SS06%20Womens%20Waterproof%20Jackets, IMO it looks ok, fitted cut and waterproof and it has a hood....

brimfull · 16/09/2007 22:24

cannot believe how many threads there are on this

I have decided to get bravissimo mac ,but I don't push a pram so shouldn't even be on this thread.

yajorome · 17/09/2007 11:02

No, no, ggirl, this is the place for you, especially as I'm trying to decide whether or not to get the Bravissimo one. Let me know how it is! I have this one but it's so freaking bright. I'm dithering about whether or not to send it back. Is it too bright? I want something that gives me a waist.

Does anyone know of a good place online to browse rainhats? Those are the sorts of things that need to be tried on, probably.

yajorome · 17/09/2007 11:04

I like the Millets one as a proper rainjacket. Maybe we all need a mac for drizzly days and a proper raincoat for really rainy days.

sugarmatches · 17/09/2007 11:50

I am not sure what difference it makes whether there are loads of threads on the same topics.
Most new people wont know that and it would be a shame to exclude new people who are not aware of how things work.

If you see a topic that has been covered or you feel there is nothing you can contribute, then don't click on the link.
Simple.

I will say, again, I really like the Boden raincoats. They are pretty and and have a cosy fleece lining. Expensive, but you will use it for years.
