Please recommend me a face wash

I need a new face wash. Ideally something affordable £12ish or less but budget is not strict and I’d pay double that if it seems worth it...

I have combination sometimes dehydrated skin. I’d like a wash that foams but is gentle. Nothing medicated or for acne control like Clearasil or whatever. I do get spots hormonally but want an every day wash that won’t dry out my skin.

I’m about to finish the Sanctuary one and that was nice so I’d try that again.

So any recommendations would be appreciated Smile

The Clinique one is lovely. Foaming facial wash, think it’s about £29

Daffodil101 · 22/04/2020 23:45

Sorry £20!

NowWhatUsernameShallIHave · 23/04/2020 01:38

I wouldn’t recommend a foaming one if you’re dehydrated

I’d either recommend one of the Cerave ones especially the hydrating one but this doesn’t foam at all

Otherwise I would suggest the Philosophy Purity made simple - but it in the large size from qvc to make it cost effective

WhoEatsPopTarts · 23/04/2020 01:45

The last thing you need is a foaming face wash. I’d recommend Beauty Pie Japan Fusion and a bit of research.

Garden of Wisdom Daily Cleanser

If you are dehydrated you want to avoid harsh foaming agents and try to find something with a low ph to match your skins natural ph. I love the Kiehls ultra facial wash for morning and second cleanse and then the body shop chamomile cleansing oil for makeup removal. Both are reasonably priced and gentle but effective!

Liz Earle cleanse and polish

Dreamscomingtrue · 23/04/2020 03:13

Liz Earle cleanse and polish is good, Very creamy and moisturising.

Dreamscomingtrue · 23/04/2020 03:16

Also this one is very good, reasonable price and lasts for ages.

I have dry skin too. I'd always recommend Liz Earle cleanse and polish. It's £19 a bottle. Superdrug do a really good hot cloth cleaner which is a dupe of the Liz Earle one though. Also Aldi's hot cloth cleaners is good as well. I alternate days with Cleanse and polish and The Bodyshop Camomile cleansing balm. I use Aldi's acid toner as well and the vitamin E serum and then moisturiser from Superdrug.

You shouldn't use foaming face wash if you have dry skin already as it is even more drying.

DuvetCaterpillar · 23/04/2020 04:15

Depends if you mean dry (lacks oil) or dehydrated (lacks water) - they can be easy to confuse. My skin went really dry during and after pregnancy, and rubbing on plain kitchen olive oil and removing with a flannel wrung out in hot water twice a day has been miraculous for my skin. Nothing else needed, I've found, lovely skin and cheap too!

redeyetonowheregood · 23/04/2020 05:14

The clarins facial wash with Shea butter is lovely and doesn't dry out my skin. The clarins in the white tube does though.

Cordial11 · 23/04/2020 05:21

No.7 hot cloth cleanser
Body shop camomile cleanser - oil or balm (whichever your preference)

Cerave Foaming Cleanser

Girlintheframe · 23/04/2020 06:27

I've been using Cereve hydrating cleaner and really like it. I have drier cheeks and slightly oily t zone. I find it really effective plus was £10

typicallyatypical · 23/04/2020 08:18

I just use Simple face wash, they do a gel or a moisturising one. Both foaming and soap free so I can use it on my eyes as well. It removes all my make up, I wear foundation, eye make up, mascara etc. Cost about £2.60 and often on 3 for 2!

I'm not a huge believer in an overly complicated cleansing routines, it's not the part I'd worry too much about expensive products and active ingredients that cost £££. I'd rather invest in serums, moisturisers after.

BunnytheHoneyBee · 23/04/2020 09:07

I think my skin is dehydrated rather than dry as it gets quite oily in the T zone throughout the day and I sometimes get a bit dry and flaky also around the nose (and make up can cling etc) so I don’t know if that counts as combination 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think the reason I had in mind a foaming cleanser was I suppose want something I could just wash my face with in the shower and rinse off (without having to put on a balm and then use a cloth or something to take it off IYSWIM?)

I have a make up eraser cloth which I love for taking off my make up but sometimes I want to wash my face after that with something gentle.

I’ve used Liz Earle cleanse and polish before and also the soap and glory version and liked it. I’ve used a lot of body shop stuff but not the ones mentioned here.

There are a few I haven’t heard of. Haven’t heard of Cerave and thats has a couple of mentions so looking that up.

Haven’t tried Clinique or Clarins but would do so.

I used to like Simple but I heard a blogger talking about how it’s not as natural and gentle as it promotes itself to be and that put me off.

I switch between three.

Superdrug naturally radiant hot cloth cleanser, £3.48 currently.
Aldi pink clay hot cloth cleanser, £4ish.
Alpha-H balancing rose cleanser, £27.50 in M&S.

Livingoffcoffee · 23/04/2020 09:41

I just got the Superdrug naturally radiant hot cloth cleanser based off comments on another thread and have been really impressed with it. And under £4!

titsbumfannythelot · 23/04/2020 10:09

Another recommendation for the Superdrug naturally radiant hot cloth cleanser. I also do a first cleanse in the evening with body shop camomile cleansing butter.

Barkingfuckingdogs · 23/04/2020 10:18

I alternate between the cerave hydrating cleanser and the salycilic acid one.

BunnytheHoneyBee · 23/04/2020 11:05

How have I never heard of Cerave?!

BunnytheHoneyBee · 23/04/2020 11:06

Oh it looks very clinical, like E45 or Cetaphil

Foaming but for sensitive skin. I love it.

BunnytheHoneyBee · 23/04/2020 11:29

Oh I like the look of that one @RD15
