Please recommend me a face wash

I need a new face wash. Ideally something affordable £12ish or less but budget is not strict and I’d pay double that if it seems worth it...

I have combination sometimes dehydrated skin. I’d like a wash that foams but is gentle. Nothing medicated or for acne control like Clearasil or whatever. I do get spots hormonally but want an every day wash that won’t dry out my skin.

I’m about to finish the Sanctuary one and that was nice so I’d try that again.

So any recommendations would be appreciated Smile

Another vote for superdrug hot cloth cleanser. Its brilliant and so gentle. My skin is much happier now. I used to use a foaming face wash and it's very drying.

I heard Simple is very nice but haven't tried it personally yet.

If you can order it through Amazon for a good price (here it costs the equivalent of about £3) try Senka Perfect Whip.
It's Japanese, made by Shiseido and I believe the best selling facewash in Japan.
I have the same skintype as you, tried many facewashes from cheap to very expensive and I LOVE this one. It cleanses deeply but doesn't dry my skin and lasts a very long time.

I would second (third?) the suggestion of Cerave hydrating cleanser. My skin is dehydrated, and I've tried so many face washes, with almost all of them leaving my skin totally parched and in desperate need of moisturiser as soon as my skin is dry. The Cerave leaves my skin so comfortable. Now that I've found it, I won't switch again.

Oh, and you don't need a cloth. You can just rinse it off in the shower.

I have sensitive skin prone to dryness but with an oily t-zone. I am loving Malin & Goetz Grapefruit Face Cleanser. It's a light foaming wash off cleanser that cleanses thoroughly and I've never had better skin. I am on my third bottle now, unheard of for me, I usually never buy the same product twice!

It s a bit over your budget as it's £29 but that's for a large bottle of 236ml. You can buy a travel size to try it out first and see if you like it.

Another vote for Cerave, which I have repeat purchased. I have the hydrating cleanser which is very similar to the Sam Bunting one. We also have their foaming cleanser in the shower for face washing (can't tell the difference between the foaming or the SA one).

Whilst they're not indulgent products, the do work really well and are great value for money. They're often on 3 for 2 but can't find any current offers

lavenderlilaclily · 23/04/2020 12:29

I've never used the Cerave cleanser but Ive used their moisturisers and they're wonderful, so I imagine the cleanser also would be

I swear by this face wash though:

I've been using it for about 3 years after trying SO many (both inexpensive and expensive) and I would never go back...have got dry sensitive and sometimes spot prone skin and this has been magical for it....also one tube lasts aaaages (swear I'm not on commission Grin!)

Bodyshop Seaweed range is good :) x

Ratonastick · 23/04/2020 13:03

I really recommend Superfacialist rose cleanser. It’s a nice creamy face wash, not drying at all. It works really well on my skin and I get it Sainsburys for £8-10 or so. Worth every penny.

cantmovewont · 23/04/2020 13:06

I have sensitive but dry skin and was advised to use this one by a dermatologist....

Its by Avene, and is great!

TheCanterburyWhales · 23/04/2020 13:11

I love:
Superdrug Vit E (I don't like the radiant range, I found it itchy and too perfumed)
Liz Earle- I buy others but always come back to this)
Body Shop chamomile butter
Boots Botanics balm.

Tend to alternate, love them all.
Be wary of Simple- their products are often anything but.

coffeecoffeegoose · 23/04/2020 13:18

I used to use the Avene cleansing gel which I really liked but it started leaving a weird film on my skin so I switched to the Body Shop Charcoal facial soap, it's only £5 and my skin hasn't been this good in a long time!
I thought it would be drying but it isn't at all, they sometimes discontinue it so I'm hoping they don't anytime soon

timetest · 23/04/2020 13:25

I use Aqueous cream with warm water and a muslin cloth at night and Cetaphil in the morning. I’m a big fan of Retin a which makes my skin quite sensitive and I’ve found these are the most gentle for me.

WrinklesShminkles · 23/04/2020 13:41

I like Avene's Cleanance gel wash. You only need a little drop for a morning wash in the shower. I find it gentle on the skin.

wishfull888 · 23/04/2020 18:31

I switched to the Kiehls Calendula Cleansing range after trying many other brands. I use the daily wash and have had about 3 breakouts since 2015. It's £29 for the smaller bottle which lasts me a good 7-8 months using twice a day.

smileannie · 24/04/2020 02:34

Try Superdrug Vitamin E hot cloth cleanser. It’s a dupe of Liz Earle. As good as, or IMO better and much cheaper, can’t remember exactly how much, but under a tenner for sure.
