Best intensive moisturizer but not super expensive?

My skin is a bit dry and seeing as we're all at home all the time in my house I'm looking in the mirror a lot more. Eeeek
Skin is dry, I can see it's more wrinkly.

Any suggestions for a super hydrating moisturizer skin plumping luxurious cream.
But not too dear? Like £20-30? That will obviously be shipped

Try a serum that contains hyaluronic acid before your normal moisturiser and add a hydrating mist too. E.g spray mist, serum, mist again, moisturiser etc. You’ll likely get better results with layering moisture into your skin rather than just adding one thick moisturiser on its own. You can also use the mist throughout the day when you feel dry to try and add extra moisture.

The original Nivea in the blue pot has consistently done better in tests than the most expensive face creams, such as Creme de la Mer.
It lasts for ages too.

The Aldi caviar range also scores very highly against other moisturisers.

Raven0306 · 23/04/2020 07:26

I tried the nip + fab serums but they irritated my skin, I spent some money on those! The reviews said to work through the spot phase etc, I gave up after 3 weeks and having absolutely terrible skin still! Ended up with Paulas choice moisturising face wash (£20) and sensitive face moisturiser from Asda...£1! Obviously everything doesn't work the same for everyone but my skin is soft and settled now. I have Rosacea too i may add Smile

SunnySummerDays · 23/04/2020 07:27

I always go back to the nivea q10

GVmama · 23/04/2020 08:20

I use the Nivea blue pot when my skin needs extra moisture too, you just can’t beat it.
I don’t use it every night as it is a bit thick and greasy and it doesn’t contain any active ingredients like ceramides/ niacinamide/ hylauronic acid that my usual Cerave night cream contains (also very good, but not especially rich). The blue pot cream obviously won’t help with wrinkles, you’d need to look into a retinol for that.

I swear by Clinique moisture surge and as it comes in different sizes I am sure there is a size within your budget. I have gone off and tried various others (often in my search to save money) but nothing comes close to it. It is very lightweight and I find my skin just drinks it right up

Dinnertime22 · 23/04/2020 15:25

I have always used Nivea in the blue tub?

Ragwort · 23/04/2020 15:27

I always use Nivea Soft (White tub), I am over 60 with no lines or wrinkles. Sometimes I put a layer of Blue Tub Nivea on my skin at night ...

IHaveBrilloHair · 23/04/2020 15:28

Astral in the blue tub, which is v similar to the nivea one.
I swear by it.

TheVanguardSix · 23/04/2020 15:28

Cicaplast by LaRoche Posay is the bomb.
My skin loves it.

kemosabeimalone · 23/04/2020 15:32

I really like Super Healthy Skin £14 by BeautyPie - you have to be a member to buy. I’m on my 5th jar and I love it. I’m in my late 40’s and it really lifts my skin and makes it glow. It’s as good as a cream 10 times the price imo (I’ve tried lots of fancy potions over the years including creme de la mer).

YogaFaker · 23/04/2020 15:32

I'm glad someone mentioned Nivea!

It's all I use, and I'm over 60 with very few wrinkles (people put me in my mid-40s when they first meet me).

I have found that, during lockdown, I'm not necessarily showering twice a day - sometimes only every 2nd day. And my skin gets quite dry if I don't shower. I also noticed that I wasn't drinking as much water as possible - so I've upped my water to about 2 litres a day.

But my "beauty routine" is warm water & a flannel, then Nivea ...

Ginfordinner · 23/04/2020 15:32

Superdrug vitamin E

Bellybootcut · 23/04/2020 15:33

I've tried many but nothing beats Nivea Soft (white pot) it's less than £2.

YogaFaker · 23/04/2020 15:35

Sometimes I put a layer of Blue Tub Nivea on my skin at night

Grin that's what I slather on each morning. I find that Nivea Soft makes my skin sting (sensitive skin ...)

Wineloffa · 23/04/2020 17:25

I also love Nivea Q10 and Lidl’s Cien Q10 Night Cream is really nice too (and cheap!).

MikeUniformMike · 23/04/2020 18:20

Lidl Cien serum followed by Nivea or Astral is pretty good.

Hamsterian · 23/04/2020 18:25

This one is lovely for at night. I also use it in the morning these days I’m not going out, it doesn’t have SPF: www.marksandspencer.com/absolute-ultimate-sleep-cream-50ml/p/hbp60293006?carousel=FUNH_AT_OOS_TOP_PDP_12_1

I make my own with extra virgin olive oil and beeswax: www.aboutoliveoil.org/diy-olive-oil-balm Works really well even under make up.

RedMoonRising · 23/04/2020 21:57

Ok thanks everyone. The blue Nivea seems to be a general favourite. The wrinkles I see are more from dehydration rather than age (though I have those too!)
I'll also drink more water

You should add some of The Ordinary's range in. I have their hyaluronic acid, retinol, buffet and niacinamide. These all make a huge difference to my skin and can be layered before heavier creams like the Nivea. They're really inexpensive but the best thing I've ever used.

TerrorWig · 24/04/2020 01:06

I adore Zoe Bee creams. They’re so luxurious.

smileannie · 24/04/2020 01:26

Another yes for blue pot Nivea. Forget all the others, expensive or not, this is best ever.

redbigbananafeet · 24/04/2020 01:39

Elemis

TigerJoy · 24/04/2020 01:50

I use a facial oil at night instead of moisturiser. The best is aldi rose oil but there are some other inexpensive ones out there. I found it really helped with skin that was getting dry from central heating
