Best intensive moisturizer but not super expensive?

My skin is a bit dry and seeing as we're all at home all the time in my house I'm looking in the mirror a lot more. Eeeek
Skin is dry, I can see it's more wrinkly.

Any suggestions for a super hydrating moisturizer skin plumping luxurious cream.
But not too dear? Like £20-30? That will obviously be shipped

Ask dermi team /GP for adex gel on prescription if it's really dry

Neutrogena Hydra Boost

My face is painfully dry, I apply Nivea several times a day and it can still be flaky. Bought a tub of coconut oil from Home Bargains for £2.99 and applying it once a day has really helped.

My nan used to slaver herself in nivea. Trust me when I say it didn't have any anti-ageing effect.

I think Khiels is fab! Also LOVE Liz Earle!

Trust me when I say it didn't have any anti-ageing effect

Of course it doesn't (and I say that as a Nivea user myself).

Things that make a difference in "anti-ageing":

  • genetics
  • exposure to sun
  • not smoking

possibly not drinking to excess
possibly diet
possibly water

The stuff we put on our skin basically just makes the top layer feel smooth, plumped, whatever. It stops the dead skin flaking off too visibly.

But it is topical - it doesn't actually "penetrate our pores, or whatever other pseudo-scientific rubbish adverts peddle.

I started using Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre over the last couple of months and I’d highly recommend it. Great for dry skin but doesn’t feel heavy at all and works great as a base for make up. I wouldn’t use blue Nivea on my face ever though it’s good as a body cream.

Ginfordinner · 24/04/2020 15:28

I find Nivea too greasy and heavy. It just sits like an oil slick on my skin.

Richlyfruited · 24/04/2020 19:59

I didn't get on with Nivea either - found it way too greasy and it gave me spots Sad

I have combination skin which can also get quite sore and dry - tried lots and usually go back to Olay complete as I just prefer a cream that sinks in.

My granny uses Astral and up until the last ten years or so she’s always had very plump smooth skin.

She still does to a certain extent but she is 96 now Grin

I really like The Bodyshop vitamin E range, and Superdrug's Naturally Radiant range.

ellanwood · 24/04/2020 22:33

Nivea Q10 here. I love it. My skin slurps it up. I have dry skin and find the blue Nivea way too heavy - it drags and pulls at my skin when I apply it and then sits on top of it in a greasy pool whereas Q10 gets absorbed and my skin feels really soft and not tight all day. The range is really good too with a day cream, a night cream and a pore-refiner which acts as a good and very reasonably priced primer.

RuffleCrow · 24/04/2020 22:38

I'm assuming none of you Nivea blue pot fans have problems with blocked pores then?!

Picassoh · 27/04/2020 15:43

Nivea and Astral are greasy so if you have dehydrated skin try to find something hydrating not rich. Unless you also have dry skin.
