Any recommendations?

Hoka one one... but I suspect that's not what you mean!

nakedavengerreturns · 16/04/2020 11:34

What do you want height in running shoes? Do you mean like the Spice Girls?

Can you explain what you mean? As PP said Hoka One One have very thick soles, but why specifically would you want height for running?

CoronaIsComing · 16/04/2020 11:40

Why?? Confused

HeyDuggeewhatchadoin · 16/04/2020 11:40

The higher up you are, the further you have to fall when you eventually collapse with exhaustion from running.

Cnoc · 16/04/2020 11:41

Do you run, OP? This is a recipe for fairly horrible injuries.

BikeRunSki · 16/04/2020 11:42

Is this for actual running, or for casual wear?
Do you mean technical running shoes?

Iamthewombat · 16/04/2020 11:43

I’m seeing running shoes with 4 inch stiletto heels in my mind but I hope that is not what the OP meant!!

BloggersNetwork · 16/04/2020 11:43

No no I don't mean a platform or anything like that. I want a proper sports shoe I can use for my runs (very light 4Kg), but I hate the feeling of my feet being so close to the ground, it's hard to explain, so I am looking for something chunky, but still appropriate for running, not a fashion shoe.

Ginfordinner · 16/04/2020 11:44

Your question doesn't make sense. If you want to run just buy some decent running shoes. Height is irrelevant. If you want extra height but don't want to run then buy some heels or platform shoes.

The shoes pictured by a PP are hideous IMO.

ChickenyChick · 16/04/2020 11:44

for running or fashion?

Ash do trainers with hidden "height" boosters, Victoria Beckham used to wear them.

Google Ash Trainers, for example:

Ginfordinner · 16/04/2020 11:44

Cross posted. I get what you mean. You just want running shoes with thick soles.

Cnoc · 16/04/2020 11:45

So you want extra cushioning, not extra height?

BusterTheBulldog · 16/04/2020 11:47

Nike zoom Pegasus turbos, Nike epic react or infinity run, saucing iso triumphs, hoka ones? All have a decent heel to toe drop if that’s what you mean?

Deux · 16/04/2020 11:48

Is it maybe the footbed you’re finding uncomfortable or unsupportive rather than the actual sole height?

I got my runners with customised insoles in a running shop but realise they’re maybe not open.

So maybe look for insoles.

countdowntonap · 16/04/2020 11:49

Maybe the On Cloudstraus? www.on-running.com/en-gb/products/cloudstratus/womens/white-almond
They have lots of different colours

Hoka One One or Adidas Ultraboost might suit you?

nakedavengerreturns · 16/04/2020 12:09

What shoe do you use to run now OP? That might help us. In the meantime I agree with Hoka and On which are very bouncy and provide lift but a decent Brooks gives good cushioning too.

I'm the opposite. I need a barefoot sole as the cushioned ones give me appalling shin splints and knee/hip pain (counterintuitive I know)

BloggersNetwork · 16/04/2020 16:43

Yes, very thick cushioning is what I am after; I also need a lot of room for my toes. At the moment I am using ASICS Men's Patriot 9 Running Shoes which are fine, nothing special, they need replacing.

CMOTDibbler · 16/04/2020 16:48

Def Hokas or On Running (my new fave brand). Hokas take a bit of getting used to, but the cushioning is amazing. They come up small and narrow. Both brands I'm a 'street' size 6 but need a 7.5

CMOTDibbler · 16/04/2020 16:49

The On Running shoes are lovely and wide in the toe box

lekkerkroketje · 16/04/2020 17:00

I have Brooks Ravenna 8 womens. They have a narrow heel and a wide toe for duck-shaped feet. Plenty of cushioning and good support. They're a bit pink for my liking though.

Runningonempty84 · 16/04/2020 18:41

As others have said - Hokas. Or ON. Watch out with Hokas though; some models are like running on slabs of concrete.

Saucony Triumph and Jazz also tend to be well cushioned, and are wide in the toe box. Both v cheap on Sportshoes at the moment. Much more cushioned than the Ravennas or the Pegs mentioned upthread, which I would really class as standard road shoes rather than thickly-cushioned ones.

0hbloodyhell · 16/04/2020 23:36

If you like the ASICS try their gel Kayanos, it’s like running on springy clouds! M and M direct often have some discounted, men’s and women’s styles.
