I have been tempted by Beauty Pie for a while but l don’t know anyone who has got stuff from there? What’s it like? What are the must have items?

I love it, no misses yet, but my favourites are
triple hyaluronic acid serum
vitamin c moisturiser
dr glycolic foot peel socks
jeju am/pm moisturiser
one powder wonder
eye shadow crayons

MabelMoo23 · 14/04/2020 22:30

Lots of people swear by it, but I’ve been put off by people’s experiences of trying to cancel. Apparently bloody hard work and jump through hoops to cancel your account and stop payments

Bathroom12345 · 14/04/2020 22:39

I had a subscription for a year. The products were nice but certainly not worth the full prices they claim they are worth. A face cleansing balm at £50 - really???

Their fragrances were awful. Faded very quickly. Reviews weren’t great on them. The packing is nice but products are on par with say No 7 but look like they have been copying Bobby Brown.

Haircare is just average. So I gave it a good go but it’s nothing special.

Retailqueenie · 15/04/2020 09:57

Ive had a great experience with them buying makeup and skincare / I’ve avoided candles & perfume..

Everything I’ve had has been great, especially love the lipsticks, eye shadow cream sticks, eyeliners, glow highlighter, Jeju cleanser... am about to order toner and glycolic pads...

They offer free first month in refer a friend scheme, here’s my code if you want to give it a try - I do get a bonus too if you use it, just to be transparent!

So transparent 🙄

Buggedandconfused · 15/04/2020 10:55

I joined to get the One Powder Wonder, it’s brilliant. I pay £5 a month and might get the retinol next. It’s fun.

CucumberFacePot · 15/04/2020 11:01

I have a monthly subscription and have been happy with everything I've ordered.

The candles are absolutely lush. I've previously bought skincare, the body scrub, mascaras, eyeliner and the perfume sampler and been happy with all of it. I actually really like all of the perfumes, although I agree that they don't have much staying power.

I'm not convinced by the full price tag but the members price is pretty reasonable even taking the subscription into account, on par with high street brands and better quality imo.

CucumberFacePot · 15/04/2020 11:05

Oh and as for must have items, I'd recommend the Essential Ceramides Superactive Capsules.

McDougal · 15/04/2020 11:27

I absolutely love Beauty Pie and haven't had any products that I wasn't pleased with yet. I tend to save up my allowance and order quite a lot so don't order all that often. I've also cancelled previously and had no issues - just a quick email.

Their make up and skincare is fantastic and the shampoo and conditioner that I tried is lovely too.

For must haves, I'd say the vitamin c capsules, japanfusion cleanser, one powder wonder and the eyeshadow sticks. I also haven't had a lip product that I wasn't happy with so just buy them all Grin

Retailqueenie · 15/04/2020 12:11

DameXanaduBramble what do you mean? I offered her my recommend a friend voucher and told her I got a bonus??

LifeAfterBreastCancer · 15/04/2020 12:12

I've been a member since the start. Tried nearly everything.

Love:
Lipsticks
Blush
Brazilian lime perfume
Cleansers
Moisturisers
Serums
Capsules
Blue shampoo and conditioner
Candles

Hate
Mascara
Nail polish
Foundation
Other perfumes
Pink Shampoo and conditioner

Desiringonlychild · 15/04/2020 12:18

I love it. Actually I don't really rate their skincare, which is average. I love the makeup though- the foundation, primer, contour gel, one wonder palette, eyeshadow sticks, eyebrow powder. Having said that, its not that I wouldn't get the skincare (have tried the masks and the cleanser and the retinol and vitamin c capsules). Its just that its not significantly better than the drugstore stuff but its convenient to be able to get it all in one package especially during lockdown. Even before lockdown, i liked that I didn't need to go down to superdrug to get a new face mask or cleanser.

Thanks for all of this info! It’s much appreciated

I love the candles and the Brazilian lime perfume. Foundation quite good too. Eyeliners are good, lipsticks mixed. Eyeshadows fade pretty quickly, didn't like Japanfusion cleanser or the balm cleanser much. I have a £5 membership and do like it on the whole. I reckon the skincare is pretty mid range so worth what you pay for it as a member, no more but I wouldn't buy very high end stuff anyway and so I'm quite happy with it.

SouthWestmom · 16/04/2020 08:49

I don't really understand it although I've looked into it.

It's not like group buying where you get a discount on brands due to numbers? Like 500 people commit to buy a Clarins oil so it's cheaper?

It's stuff they say is made by the same factories that make eg MAC? But how do you know it's not the same factories that make eg Superdrug?

Isn't it just a brand itself?

Desiringonlychild · 16/04/2020 11:21

@Noeuf tbh many of the same factories who make loreal also make Lancome and Giorgio Armani. There are drugstore products which are similar or even better in quality than luxury products. the main deal with luxury products is (a) the luxury factor (better quality and more beautiful packaging), (b) more research into skincare and more expensive ingredients (whether that works for your skin really depends; flecks of real gold are unlikely to make any difference to your skin, but nice oils are expensive to a certain point), (c) also stronger pigments in luxury products i.e. foundation, eyeshadow. Beauty pie is a beauty buyers club (so you basically have a limit that renews every month, its £5 for every £50 of buying limit). The main beef most people have with beauty pie is that the RRP quoted on the website is ridiculous (£50 for a face mask!?) and your buying limit is based on the RRP. How I rationalize it is this- a Beauty pie foundation is £8.23, the lowest membership is £5, shipping is £3.36. The beauty pie foundation is a very good replica of the giorgio armani luminous silk which retails at £43, so £16.36 foundation is an incredibly good deal esp if you take into account that my membership and shipping is going to spread across more than one product. On average I buy 2-3 products per month and honestly if I had more self control, I could let my allowance build up over more months and then pay a flat shipping charge for 10 products so its only 36p per product.

SouthWestmom · 16/04/2020 15:13

Hi desiring thank you for posting that. I knew (at the back of my mind) that eg clothes factories churn out Armani and Primark from the same places (example, no idea if exact) but didn't apply that to make up.

Good point on the packaging.

Think I've understood it better now. Can you look without signing up, might have a proper scout.

mrsjg · 16/04/2020 15:35

I'm new to Beauty Pie. Joined in February and ordered some stuff, just to see what the quality was like. I have a £10 monthly subscription and have been saving up my allowance so come pay day this month I'm going to have a big spend.

I'll be buying skincare and make up this time.

You have to sign up for a minimum of 3 months. I was quite happy to take the hit if the stuff was shite, but I will continue with the subscription.

Does anybody know when and how many Pie Days there are?

Desiringonlychild · 16/04/2020 15:50

@Noeuf you can look without signing up on the site. And you need to sign up for minimum of 3 months. I got my first month free cos of a code. Probably best to get the £5 sub if you aren't sure.

Thighmageddon · 16/04/2020 16:17

I have to say I was very sceptical but thought I'd give it a try and now many months down the line I'm glad I did.

I buy a limited amount of products but the ones I've bought have worked, particularly the retinol eye cream.

LaPampa · 16/04/2020 16:39

I rate the vit c moisturiser. Sadly the makeup brushes were rubbish (worth a try I thought) but my eight year old daughter was very pleased with them! I also like the various face washes, but I buy from other places too.

Desiringonlychild · 16/04/2020 18:00

@mrsjg tbh I wouldn't join for the pie days, they are few and far between. I have been a member since last October. There was a pie day for a moisturizing mask or cream, everyone rushed to get it but I couldn't cos I had placed a big order earlier that day. Also the site crashed.

mrsjg · 16/04/2020 19:08

Thanks @Desiringonlychild

SirVixofVixHall · 16/04/2020 19:15

Like
The apricot cleansing balm
The japan fusion moisturiser
The cleansers generally
Did not like the little capsules for the face, they felt full of silicones.
I find the makeup a bit disappointing , the pencils are quite hard and dragging, the lipsticks thick and yet wear off quickly , in fact everything seems to wear off quickly. It doesn’t seem as high end as they claim.
I have stopped subscribing as it isn’t so cheap really when you tot it all up, as I found I would buy stuff just to try it. I am slightly tempted to go back but not sure it is worth it, with the ten pounds every month plus the expensive postage.
I haven’t tried candles, perfume or haircare.

SouthWestmom · 16/04/2020 21:19

Thank you desiring
