I have been tempted by Beauty Pie for a while but l don’t know anyone who has got stuff from there? What’s it like? What are the must have items?

I love it, it's taken the pain out of looking at reviews on 10's of websites to find what I'm looking for at a decent price that's quality.

I like how you are restricted on what you can buy, id spend a fortune otherwise and it makes me consider every purchase and prioritise which I think is important

It's stopped me buying random beauty products the rest of the month so I believe I've save money

I really look forward to the box coming and I have tried a few new things that otherwise I'd be too nervous to try

Top products for me
Japafusion cleanser - removes all makeup and non greasy
Tinted SPF - complete copy of Laura Mercia
The compact - has 3 shadows, a bronzer, blusher and highlighter, is excellent and all powders are highly pigmented
The hair mask - copy of elasticzer (?) by Phillip Kingsley

To be honest there's only been 2 things I haven't liked one was Vit C as it wasn't moisturising enough and the other the shampoos, they were far too thick and didn't spread well

I was subscribed for many months but had to cancel in the end because I was not getting my money's worth at all. Sadly I could not go down from 20 to 5 pounds a month so I had to cancel and loose my accrued spending limit. Cancelling was very easy and straightforward. I just sent an email explaining why I want to cancel and it was done.
But all in all I found the skincare very underwhelming. The formulations are not great judging by the amount of the beneficial ingredients and the retail prices are ridiculous ( I always check the ingredient lists not the claims). I'm also very picky and I don't like strong alcohols and perfumes in skincare and always look for good formulations so in the end I could not find anything suitable. I tried the Japan fusion cleanser but did not love it.
The only thing I really like is the one powder wonder but that is worth full price and would be less money than paying monthly.
For me it was a waste of money and I'm better off sticking to my usual well formulated products.
If they release new perfumes I might reconsider joining again but it would be for the cheapest monthly rate.

I tried it but cancelled as I felt there wasn’t enough that I liked to keep my subscription. Two of my friends though exclusively used Beauty Pie skincare and I go on regularly to see what they have. Sometimes I think I’ll rejoin but I’ve found some skincare products I can buy easily which I really like. Have tried some makeup but not a huge amount.

theneverendinglaundry · 24/06/2020 20:00

I signed up in March and got lots of make up. It's good but nothing outstanding in my opinion, you could easily pick up the same level of quality in your local Boots or Superdrug.

The skincare completely confused me, but I do like to keep my routine simple so perhaps that's just me!

I just don't buy beauty and make up regularly enough to justify the monthly cost.

Marahute · 25/06/2020 12:22

Yes and no...

I love the:
Triple Hyaluronic Acid serum
Retinol serum & night cream
Japanfusion mask
Japanfusion cleanser
Dr Glycolic Liquid
The shimmer bar highlighter
Brow mousse/premade
One powder wonder
Mascara (amazing!)
JeJu facial mist (although looking forward to the one they are bringing out in the Triple HA range which will be fragrance free)
Dr Glycolic socks

I dislike the fact so many of their products are so heavily fragranced. Most in my list above are fragrance-free, but the choice is limited.
I haven't been able to find a day time moisturiser in the range that I like. Japanfusion was good but the fragrance is horrible.
So I stick to Cerave and Eucerin.
Also hate the BP SPF (so greasy even on my dry skin, and stings my eyes) and the Tinted Moisturiser (dark and greasy).
I quite liked the haircare initially, but now find my hair gets greasy quickly so I am not sure it agrees with me. The body scrub is nice, but so bloody greasy it isn't practical to use often. Double Phase cleanser and the cleansing balm were just "OK". I didn't like the sleep oil at all. Lip balm is "meh" as is the lip gloss/oil.

I find the spending limit quite restrictive. So I have gradually narrowed down my list of "essentials" that I will repurchase. I try to plan so I always have what I really like, and then occasionally pick up an extra bit here or there to try. I wish they did a sampler for the lipsticks because I want to try some but I don't really want to buy and then the shade not suit me.

The really annoying thing is that something I want is ALWAYS out of stock. Every time I come to order I have the same issue and it is frustrating. The P&P is really expensive, so I don't like to order more than once a month ideally, but that means I often can't get something I like. I don't get why their stock can't be kept replenished in a more timely manner. I think as they're charging people for access to the products, that they should actually be able to access what they want, when they want.

Also think you should get a special PIE DAY on your birthday to choose any one item to buy without using up spending limit.

But for all my gripes I do really like the products that I use daily, so I'm continuing with my membership at the moment.

I recently found a FB group for swapping products, which is really handy too. Can sometimes pick up bits that are out of stock.

SinglePringle · 25/06/2020 12:27

I really don’t understand how it works!

Is it that if I joined and paid £5 a month, I can order products up to the value of £50 but pay no more than the fiver?!

Marahute · 25/06/2020 12:45

SinglePringle
No, your £5 a month subscription entitled you to £50 monthly spending limit, based on the "normal retail price", but you actually pay the members price.

So for example if you wanted a face cream that costs £50 at "normal retail price" but is £10 at members price then that is your £50 spending limit used up for the month. And your monthly spend would be £5 (subscription) + £10 (members price for the cream) + cost of postage and packaging (~£4).

Also if you don't use all your allowance each month then any remaining will roll over so you can accumulate more and have a larger allowance to buy more stuff.

Hope that makes sense?

SinglePringle · 25/06/2020 13:23

@Marahute - understood! Thank you!

il0vew1ne · 25/06/2020 13:29

I like the products, but the prices have skyrocketed since a few years ago. I now find it too dear and have cancelled my subscription (with no problem)

You have to pay £10.00 per month or whatever you subscribe too and the you have to pay postage on what you order, so it works out expensive.

SundayReilly · 25/06/2020 19:39

Just started subscribing due to lockdown.
Like the cleanser and the Pixie glow copy acid pads.
Have bought shampoo conditioner and intensive repair but not tried yet.
Eyeshadow palette seemed ok
Bobbie Brown type shimmer brick is ok
Retinol seemed on par with other brands
Candle nothing special.
Not sure if I will continue after my three months up.
I call it Avon for women who wear Boden!!

After saying this I complained to them as bought a mascara that wasn't actually a mascara, but it didn't say this through the shopping process - sent them screen shots as well and was expecting them to resolve the issue, rather than just thanking me saying they'll pass on the feedback then asking me for a review...

Loveinatimeofcovid · 10/07/2020 10:27

It’s fantastic value for money (although their non-members prices are unrealistic sometimes). Some of their products are very average though so it can be hit and miss.

Cancelling is not a issue, just don’t pay your subscription and they pause it for you, you can then pick up where you left off or just not use it ever again.

PersonaNonGarter · 10/07/2020 11:40

I have subscribed but I won’t renew my annual membership.

I’ve decided it just isn’t good value. The products are not as good as, say the Ordinary or La Roche Posay, and are quite expensive. If you are used to high end products you will find the ‘RRP’s laughable. High street make up is just as good and often cheaper.

Definitely don’t do an annual membership. I checked their accounts and it is really shonky. Exactly the sort of business that could get into trouble very quickly, so only do monthly.

Saurus72 · 10/07/2020 12:43

I pay the minimum monthly subscription of £5 and let the amount I can order build up over 3-4 months, so I can order several things and just pay one P&P. I stick to serums (hyaluronic acid etc) and retinol, both of which I think are worth it and I like the fact I can read about them on one website before buying and work out what goes with what. The foot cream is also excellent.
I completely agree re: the overblown RRP - just seemingly random numbers imho. There are some average products (eye creams) but I think if you select carefully it can be really good value.

Yazoop · 10/07/2020 12:59

I think the RRP prices are often fantasy-land but the skincare is top notch and cheaper than equivalent products. With my subscription fee included, I’m still saving quite a bit of money as I am using it for stuff that I’d otherwise pay a premium for (good serums, night cream, cleansers). Generally a thumbs up, but I have heard it takes time to cancel and I think you need to consider carefully what you get most value out of purchasing with your allowance.

Absoluteunit · 10/07/2020 13:13

I love BP. The make up and body/hair stuff is just OK imo but the skincare is fantastic.

Absoluteunit · 10/07/2020 13:14

Oh and don't be put off with the cancellation thing. I have had to cancel before and it just took a quick email

tinkerbellla · 02/09/2020 20:39

Thank you for the code @Peoniesandcats Smile

LarryUnderwood · 02/09/2020 22:43

I love it, I have moved from a monthly to annual subscription. Favourites so far are the cleansers (japanfusion and the plantastic balm), the fruitizyme mask and micropeeling drops, super healthy skin daily moisturiser and the retinol serum. Also one powder wonder. Didnt like the nail polish and the hair volume booster. And I LOVE the spf50 that just came out. Oh, and the super healthy skin body cream. That is phenomenal- I have incredibly dry skin on my shins and this is the only moisturiser ever that has fully got rid of the scales, but isn't greasy.
I have pretty good skin on my face, not many lines, occasional spots but generally clear, neither dry nor oily. So I can't say that I've seen a massive change as there weren't really problems to fix. However I have had several of those awful boil like hormonal spots brewing, which would usually erupt on my chin and stick around for ages. Using the fruitizyme and mocropeeling drops - got rid of them almost overnight, every time. And my skin in general is very clear and soft, even more so than before.
Hard recommend :). I also have a code if anyone wants to try! Defo go for skincare over makeup.

pommedeterre · 03/09/2020 14:52

Working for me 18 months in. Their haircare suits my hair perfectly so U make back the subscription and a good saving on that alone (used to use redken/kerastase etc).

I also use the bb cream, the perfume (I like the red apple one and the mandarin one), their glycolic acid toner, their clay face wash and the retinol eye cream. All would cost me more £ somewhere else so I add to my saving and find them all more than acceptable.

I buy the odd bit of make up but other than the mascara haven't really loved any of that yet.

Rainydays200 · 03/09/2020 20:08

I signed up and initially loved it. There’s something quite exciting about the whole process, but I quickly got annoyed with having to wait for my monthly fees to accrue in order to buy what I actually wanted. So I cancelled and have found I’m not missing it at all. Superdrug sell Hado Labo hylauronic that’s as good as BP and no more expensive when you add it all up. I found the make-up wasn’t for me at all. Gave it all to DD. I do love JapanFusion cleanser though.

XingMing · 03/09/2020 21:04

I've been a member for two and a bit years, and am generally happy with the products and the value. Yes, you have to choose carefully. But the JapanFusion range is good across every product.

The makeup is hit and miss but it's about what you use or want to try out. I often use it (and Superdrug) to try an idea inexpensively without commitment. Don't bother with the nail products, candles or perfumes. I like the Body Polish, and so does my niece but didn't like the leg make up --- so she's inherited it.

One Powder Wonder is a great product; for me, and a lot of beauty bloggers, the star of the whole range. I have bought an embarrassing number of compacts because I get it for my sister and mum, and have one in every handbag and weekend bag. It makes any (white European) complexion look better and smoother. If I quit subscribing, I would buy it anyway.
