Tell me about Hush clothes

alliwantisagoodnightssleep · 14/04/2020 12:50

Just that really. With this lockdown I have realised I don’t have any nice comfy relaxing clothes. I have old tracksuit bottoms with paint stains and that is it. I obviously spend too much time in work clothes.

What is the fit like with hush and do you recommend. Thanks all.

Guys. Step away from elasticated waists.

Guys. Step away from elasticated waists.

No thanks.

Alo yoga does the best sweatpants. I've had the Motos for three years and they still look good.

I'm absolutely gutted with Hush today. I ordered a £99 dress from them a fortnight ago. Great, comes well packed, in a rigid cardboard box, wrapped in tissue paper. Ordered another dress, same price, turned up today in a brown paper envelope which was trashed, no protective plastic wrapping around the dress inside, which was missing a button and looked like someone had played football with it! So disappointed. £200 for 2 dresses and I personally don't think that's cheap

I think frumpy hits the nail on the head exactly. I really don't understand why so many people love Hush on this forum.

peaceanddove · 15/04/2020 17:53

Love their styling on the website, but actual quality is no better than mediocre high street, thinking Dorothy Perkins or Next. I bought one of their bamboo knit jumpers and just washed it once following the instructions and it just turned into a shapeless rag. It was unwearable and I think it cost £65? My friend bought several of the star jumper and all the seams twisted and hems came undone.

Elasticated waists just make you fat. Awful

I don't look fat in mine.

JoysOfString · 16/04/2020 10:23

Agree it’s very mixed. I love their cotton long vests, slub t-shirts and v-neck sweatshirts (100% cotton sweatshirts are hard to find, especially in interesting colours, and they are lovely). They all wash brilliantly. I also have a long viscose dress, with elastic waist, that is the most flattering thing I own and has lasted years been washed many times and still looks new. Also have a cotton t-shirt maxi dress that I love. And some beloved joggers! So I do buy quite a lot there.

BUT a cardigan I bought bobbled so badly it cant be fixed, in just a few weeks. And I’m very dismayed that some of their nicest print dresses are now polyester Angry. I avoid the knitwear and anything synthetic.

JoysOfString · 16/04/2020 10:28

Re frumpy, I think as with boden there is a typical “hush outfit” look that is a bit tired and obvious and isn’t going to suit everyone. I’m especially thinking of the tops with inane slogans. But if you pick and choose what works for you and avoid an identikit look, they have some nice stuff.

PrimalLass · 16/04/2020 11:02

I'm always keen to know what those who call things frumpy actually wear. TBH I'm 46 so not looking for high fashion.

Agree. Not jogging bottoms.

PrimalLass · 16/04/2020 14:48

What exactly is "grannyfied" about wearing comfy trousers to sit at home in front of a pc all day? Post what you wear rather than another dig at what other people do.

JoysOfString · 16/04/2020 14:53

OP said she was thinking about "nice comfy relaxing clothes" - Hush are pretty good for various varieties of that. Clothes with elasticated bits can look fab – it depends on so many other factors - but if they're for blobbing around at home it doesn't matter that much anyway.

ZaraW · 16/04/2020 15:00

Clothing other than grannyfied elasticated trousers and shapeless jumpers with naff rainbow motifs. HTH.

Never heard of Athleisure? So what non granny clothes do you wear when relaxing at home?

PrimalLass · 16/04/2020 15:14

It always happens on sandals threads too. People proclaim 'frumpy' then either post something equally as marmite or a tiny jewelled bling thing.

SpokeTooSoon · 16/04/2020 15:15

Tried on a pair of Amie joggers and they’re awful in real life. They looked like the elasticated waist slacks my Nan used to buy in Bon Marche

They don’t. You’re wrong. It’s fine not to like them. But they don’t look like slacks in any way. They’re joggers really, with little zips at the ankles. A harem shape and deep pockets. They’re not meant to be smart, just comfortable and a bit sporty.

Theresasback · 16/04/2020 15:17

'Clothing other than grannyfied elasticated trousers and shapeless jumpers with naff rainbow motifs. HTH'

Like the H&M joggers you posted about recently on another thread?😂

tontie · 16/04/2020 18:20

What's wrong with joggers? I bloody love them, prefer them for exercise too.

PrimeraVez · 16/04/2020 19:41

I love how everything looks on the website, but I’ve ordered from there three times now and each time I’ve been disappointed.

Their sizing is all over the place and the quality is really poor. Lots of unraveling seams, sloppy stitching and hanging hems.

SambaMamba · 16/04/2020 20:33

Joggers. Shapeless. Makes you look fat and frumpy

FantailsFly · 16/04/2020 20:46

I’d agree with posters who say Hush clothes are poor quality for the price. Girlfriend chinos last a season or two, sweatshirts and knitwear washes terribly IME - bobbly and misshapen after a couple of washes.

jollypostmancalling · 16/04/2020 22:01

Samba says on this thread 'Hush personifies mumsy' but a quick search reveals she started a thread asking for a Hush discount code a few days ago 🤦‍♀️

Almahart · 24/04/2020 06:34

I'd look at H&M for clothes to lounge in. Their premium range is pretty good. Agree Hush appalling quality

smallgreyelephant · 24/04/2020 10:31

Terrible quality.
