I’ve run out of my usual liz Earle a few weeks ago and just been using soap but my skin is getting awful

I’ve now seen the news about the liz Earle tribunal so thinking I’d be better trying another brand

Must not be tested on animal and must be available to buy online

Emma Hardie - feels and smells lovely

HermioneWeasley · 08/04/2020 21:47

I make my own oil and take it off with a hot flannel. I used other hot cloth cleansers for years - liz Earle, Superdrug, the sanctuary. This is every bit as good (or better) and costs about £5/year

@citygirl1961

I have lots of muslin cloths from the various different products I've tried. I find when washed they're all pretty much of a muchness. Some are. A bit too small though. I know Primark do sets of muslin cloths that come highly recommended, but I've not tried them yet.

I use the cleanser on my eyes, give them a good rub with my fingers first before wiping with the cloth. Never had any reaction.

Nadine Baggott raves about the Superdrug Vitamin E hot cloth cleanser. She also has another equally inexpensive but skin-loving one on her YouTube channel. (I’m in Aus, so we don’t have those brands... her other faves are mega expensive, of course.)

I think the superdrug one means don't let it touch the eyeball, not that you must avoid the eye area. I haven't used it so can't comment personally.
Anyway it's currently half price.

Warnings or Restrictions
Avoid direct contact with the eyes. If this should occur, rinse thoroughly with clean water. Keep out of reach of children.

@HermioneWeasley - are you willing to share what you use?

VanillaSugarr · 09/04/2020 07:23

Caroline Hirons Pixi double cleanse from Boots. It is amazing!

chatwoo · 09/04/2020 07:28

Lush Ultrabalm.

chatwoo · 09/04/2020 07:29

Ultrabland !

HermioneWeasley · 09/04/2020 19:14

@lborgia

I buy castor oil and sweet almond oil or jojoba online in bulk. I have oily skin s9 8 do 50/50 of those (castor is more drying) and add some tea tree oil and lavender.

Twattergy · 09/04/2020 19:25

Body shop chamomile (nice as come sin a tin not plastic) or superdrug naturally radiant. I think it's more about the cloth than the balm but these 2 are great.

Doobigetta · 09/04/2020 19:45

I think the superdrug one means don't let it touch the eyeball, not that you must avoid the eye area.

I’m pretty sure that it doesn’t mean that! How many cleansers are designed to be used on your eyeballs?! I think that’s pretty much a given. It means don’t use it on your eye area because if some goes in it’ll sting like a bastard.

XingMing · 09/04/2020 19:56

DHC, a Japanese company -- for those in Australia it may be an easier buy, makes a skin cleansing oil based on olive oil that is my first cleansing step. It's quite basic, pump into your hand, rub gently all over your face and remove with a wet flannel. But it's very very effective. And works for eye make up and everything else, and for all but the trickiest skin-types. Not as expensive as some, but costs more than Superdrug. A 200ml bottle lasts me 6 months.

jjw93 · 09/04/2020 20:42

@WobblyLondoner I have used both the superdrug cleansers and felt the only difference was the scent! The naturally radiant one has more of a fresh/floral smell. I personally prefer the Vit E one!

JoeySpecial · 09/04/2020 20:46

Hated the Body Shop one.

Love the Superdrug one.

SirVixofVixHall · 09/04/2020 20:48

I use the REN one too.
What is the problem with Liz Earle ?

Middleagedmidwife · 09/04/2020 21:06

I have an nspa one from Asda and it’s amazing. Cheap too. I’ve used Aldi but I prefer this one.

bobbletrouble · 09/04/2020 21:07

I like the Soap and Glory one - been using it for years. It's usually on 3 for 2. Nobody ever seems to mention this one.

RibenaMonsoon · 09/04/2020 21:22

Lush ultrabland

My dry skin is always kept in check with it.

Marmaladegin · 09/04/2020 22:12

Can't live without body shop chamomile one- removes any makeup and leaves skin feeling lovely.

lborgia · 09/04/2020 22:42

Thanks Hermione, I might experiment !

MrsJonesAndMe · 10/04/2020 08:01

Superdrug one here too!

kmini · 10/04/2020 08:46

Love love love superdrug vit e.

Anyone else having trouble getting it? My local superdrug is closed and they are only offering click and collect from stores (where they are apparently out of stock). Gutted- been trying for weeks.

AnnaNimmity · 10/04/2020 08:49

Emma Hardie is my favourite
