How often are you....

pinkandblue15 · 28/03/2020 20:45

I usually wash my hair every 2 days, but being at home on lockdown have pushed to 3 days (it is proper manky by this point). I get grumpy if I feel very dirty...

I tie it up every day and don't bother straightening it or using anything fancy.

Shaving legs every 3-4 days, because the stubble makes me itchy otherwise. Pluck eyebrows only when I cba.

I wear leggings every day, and any top that won't have to be ironed after it's washed. I wear bras for at least 3 days whereas before I wore a new one every day. Tbh I may ditch the bra altogether if just in the house.

I'm using cheap moisturiser for my face every few days. My skin does feel dry though so may have to rethink this.

Shave legs - first time in 3 weeks; hair wash increased up to every 4 days; only worn crop top style bras since I’ve been wfh: 2 weeks now I think / it’s a blur!) twice daily wash face and appropriate day/night serum/moisturiser this as I am old (ish) and acutely aware that I need to do something to offset the appalling diet/too much wine and lack of exercise in the last few weeks.
Definitely no ironing, and daily pairs of joggers to cope with my expanding waistline...
eyebrows...?!
Avoiding mirrors....

Gwenhwyfar · 28/03/2020 23:43

I barely make any effort any more. You're doing LOADS more than me.
What's the point if I don't go anywhere.
If I have a work meeting via video, I just make sure I have something over my PJs.

Notonmyshift · 29/03/2020 00:02

I'm doing minimal on weekdays but even though I'm going nowhere I'm still doing full hair and makeup on Saturday and Sunday 😀

DysonFury · 29/03/2020 04:33

I've fully morphed into a hairy makeup free trollop. But we spend all day in the garden at the moment and my plants don't seem to mind.

WanderingTrolley1 · 29/03/2020 05:03

Same as before lockdown with regards to clothes, makeup, hair washing. The only thing I’ve slacked in is the shaving!

TKAAHUARTG · 29/03/2020 05:26

I am doing nothing because I have been so ill. I am going to use all my extra time to really treat myself. In my head. Although I hope it becomes reality. Maybe when I am better.

readingismycardio · 29/03/2020 05:33

I do everything as I used to (hair washed every tuesday and friday and shaving every thursday, face masks, do my own nails, etc) but I don't bother with make up and clothing....

Raffathebear · 29/03/2020 05:39

I got properly dressed, full make up and hair and everything yesterday and i felt really good. I get down when i stay in lounge wear. I dont need to shave much because ive had laser done. Im loving my natural eyebrows as my plan is to fully let them grow out before i shape them.

MardyGrass · 29/03/2020 08:24

Still working F/t so beauty grooming has to continue along with deep cleaning of house cooking increasingly complicated food shopping ensuring two sets of elderly parents are surviving and supervising of teens.
DH also still working so life is pretty much as normal.
To be honest my beauty routine is welcome respite.
Hair wash every second day
Daily make up
Twice daily shower
Leg shave every second
Wax bits every weekend -as long as wax doesn't run out
Have a box dye for roots as the time will come.
So glad I had not really used any of my Marks and Spencer beauty advent box coming in very useful.

CountFosco · 29/03/2020 08:43

I am low maintenance anyway. Still wash hair and shower everyday because I like to be clean. Hair is short so no styling required. Haven't shaved my legs since early December. Never pluck my eyebrows. Wear the same clothes (jeans and jumper) I'd wear to work. Never wear makeup. Use same cheap moisturiser I always use.

I stopped wearing rings weeks ago, that's my biggest concession to Covid19.

JMAngel1 · 29/03/2020 08:51

@MardyGrass. how do you wax every week - does the hair not need to be a certain length to be able to be ripped out?

Floisme · 29/03/2020 09:12

I'm dressing as carefully as always because I enjoy it. Washing. Using moisturiser and hand cream because my skin gets sore without it. That's about it. All the other stuff bores me and I'm bored enough as it is. Do whatever you enjoy or makes you feel better.

JellyfishandShells · 29/03/2020 09:27

Showering every day after my exercise,
Washing fine hair every 2 to 3 days because is coloured and trying to preserve that a bit - looks fine up in a bun
Usually have unruly brows and upper lip threaded so back to plucking
Dry skin so moisturise lots anyway - running out of normal one but now is the time for all those samples
Usually epilate legs but leggings all the time so not
Only ever wear makeup if going out to dressy event so not
Paying more attention to practical manicure/pedicure in terms of neat nails/dry skin removal - hate nail varnish so never do that anyway
DH is still trimming his beard and hair !

Floisme · 29/03/2020 09:32

I'm missing my hairdresser though, I forgot that.

Raffathebear · 29/03/2020 09:35

Jellyfish, You can do your own upper lip so easily look up threading tutorials on youtube. Im too scared to thread my eyebrows so face been lasered apart from eyebrows and lashes obviously Grin but before that i threaded my own upper lip and chin and actually found me doing it on myself less painful.

JellyfishandShells · 29/03/2020 09:52

Thank you @Raffathebear - just looked at some very interesting videos re self threading! I’m ok plucking with a tweezer - is threading any better at removal ?

I always used to do my own, because I had nice obedient brow hairs and minimal other facial hair , but post menopause, the brow hairs are in all directions, longer and thicker but also more sparse . It happens :/ The lovely lady I go to is brilliant at shaping and trimming to make the best of it so I am just trying to follow the line.

Miseryisabutterfly · 29/03/2020 10:33

I’m washing my hair every 3 days instead of 2. Not out of laziness, I’m seeing it as an opportunity to retrain it! Still shaving but not bothering with makeup unless I go to the supermarket. I’d like to be making more of an effort with clothes. I’m finding slobbing about is depressing.

squishedgrapes · 29/03/2020 12:15

I've been tidying my hair and wearing tinted moisturiser and tinted lip balm for when I do my tutoring via Skype. Tomorrow I'm going to brave the supermarket and will dress my bottom half in something other than leggings, although that doesn't sound appealing.
I don't shave legs, etc anyway, or do eyebrows. Bit I might pluck out the chin hairs that have sprouted tomorrow

squishedgrapes · 29/03/2020 12:16

I'm dying my roots tonight, if I can be bothered

Redlocks30 · 29/03/2020 12:20

I’m doing all the things I normally do. Shower daily, wash hair every other day and make up/clothes as usual.

If it makes you feel manky and dirty if you don’t wash your hair as often and is making your face feel dry using cheap moisturiser-why don’t you go back to what you were doing before?

Floisme · 29/03/2020 12:44

Oh chin hairs, yup still plucking them but I enjoy that - it's deeply satisfying.

LightenUpSummer · 29/03/2020 12:47

Has anyone successfully retrained their hair to need washing less often? I'd like to go from every 2 days to every 3, but so far it's pretty bad on day 3.

TashieWoo · 29/03/2020 12:58

I’m working from home and doing things basically exactly the same just wearing slightly less makeup, I.e. just mascara on my eyes rather than eyeshadow/liner.

I’m washing my hair every day (feel odd if I don’t) and just putting some Moroccan oil in it and leaving to dry naturally rather than the usual blow drying/straightening.

I’ve ditched fake tan for the time being and I’m using cheaper products that I have -hoarded- kept, I’m trying to use everything up and not buy anything. Saving my favourite things for when I can actually go out and see people, no point using up expensive things when I’m largely just sitting at home! I do my own gel nails and dermaplaning at home. Eyebrows don’t need doing yet but I have a home tinting kit now, and I think I’ll have to get some wax strips for eyebrows and bikini line too.

And it’s loungewear all the time now, but clean clothes every day and bra on.

Floisme · 29/03/2020 12:59

I recommend the menopause - I can go 4 or 5 days now without hairwashing.

LightenUpSummer · 29/03/2020 13:20

Floisme I seem to be teetering in and out of perimenopause and my roots have gone drier and more greasy simultaneously Confused

Incidentally I went on the pill after a few months of hot flushes etc and it really made my skin more glowy/less grey, so I do think hormones have a big impact.

Even more off topic, I'm seeing great results from biotin, which I've just started
