Should curvier women wear white jeans?

I love pastel looks and I'm tired of wearing skinnier dark jeans to slim myself down. Would white jeans work or would I look humongous? I'm a size 14/16 and part of me thinks just go for it, the other part thinks forget it!

They are nice trousers. If you can keep them clean I would. Maybe get a bar of vanish if you don't have one! Smile

MrsGrindah · 15/03/2020 20:14

Yes I think the Next ones look best depending on thickness

DianaT1969 · 15/03/2020 20:27

I think they look good on bigger women if they have low stretch content, around 3% lycra or less. So the non-stretch denim in traditional Levi 501s for example. Even slim women can suffer from dimpled oranges in a bag effect and unflattering creases if not.
Go for it! Try them on. You should wear what you like.

SummersMahoosiveClipOnFringe · 15/03/2020 20:46

I do think they make you look bigger. I want to like them but have never found a flattering pair

wrinkledimplelover · 15/03/2020 20:55

Do you like them?
Are they comfortable (or are you willing to suffer the discomfort for some reason)?

There's your answer.

I think cellulite on women's legs is beautiful. (Check my username). Attractive even. Maybe because I love women's bodies as they are and don't wish them to be those of 14-16 year olds.

Who gives a crap if I do though or if I don't? Your body, your legs, your trousers.

Wear what makes you happy, life's too short to be wearing clothes to make other people happy.

Order the trousers you think will work best for you, according to what you like, and try them on. Send them back if you don't like them.

If anybody looks at you and thinks "Her thighs look fat/dimpled/anything else in those white jeans, she'd be better off in dark ones" truly, that's their own problem showing through. Jiggle your thighs away in the happiness of wearing clothes you like. :)

For me it's mainly because I'm bored of my nice top and dark jeans look and think actually a lighter bottom part would freshen me up a bit, im thinking lighter trousers, blush pink top or pink duster coat. But with this look, would it suit white jeans or white trousers. I like the RI ones as I like the length. Also won't be wearing heels, just nice mid heels or flats.

Also I have good legs and have never even considered the idea that I may have cellulite as I haven't looked!Smile

What is this about cellulite? Does it show through jeans? I've never noticed that on anyone!

Op wear whatever you feel comfortable in. Never hurts to try on things you usually wouldn't.

Eesha · 15/03/2020 23:59

@Dibdabdobdop ive also never noticed cellulite on anyone through clothes

You can see it sometimes if the trousers are of a thin material and white reflects light differently so you see more detail through it than the same fabric in black.

Anyway, the point is that there aren't "good legs" and "bad legs". They're legs. They're yours and if you're happy carry on doing what makes you that!

I used to have white trousers and loved them, but the problem of dirt ended up just being a pain. Vanish was useful but ultimately even that wasn't enough. You've got me thinking about them again though! I like the RI ones because they've got a high waist.

If white jeans are a jump too far (ie too different from your norm to feel comfortable in), grey jeans would also look great with blush pink. And you can choose your shade of grey depending on how light you feel comfortable in.

Hmm I always thought that white jeans were a no-no unless you were very slender but a couple of years ago I bought some straight leg cropped white jeans from Next and surprisingly they were quite slimming. I was a size 14 at the time. Couldn't get into them last year but hope to wear them again this summer.

EoinMcLovesCakeJumper · 16/03/2020 20:16

I think they look a bit 80s and/or Liz Hurley on pretty much everyone, so they wouldn't be for me, but I wouldn't worry about your size as a deciding factor.

I too can't remember ever having seen someone's cellulite through a pair of thin trousers, not even pale coloured ones. You'd think it would be quite a common sight what with all the leggings and jeggings around at the moment. But anyway, I do think thicker fabrics are better if you have wobbly bits, as they hold you in place and give you a better outline.

No - really bad idea.
