I would wear it with skinny jeans. What draws me to it is that I love the colour and it doesn’t contain wool, to which I’m allergic. My hesitation is that I’m 41, and at this age I wonder whether it would look ageing? On a woman in her 20s it would not, but at this age I’m not sure!

Depends on your shape. I’m 50 and “shapely”, and it would make me look very middle aged. If you’re willowy, then maybe it would be fine.

NiteFlights · 11/03/2020 08:47

sleeves are a bit too wizardy Grin

It’s not about your size, it’s about your style, innit? Not everyone wants to wear slim fitting clothes. It’s a nice jumper that will look great on OP with skinny dark or light jeans (agree with pp the ones in the pic are wrong) or maybe black cotton slim chinos or similar.

CountFosco · 11/03/2020 09:03

You are young, tall, and slim so it would look OK on you. But I would most expect to see that style on someone older (I'm 49 and can imagine my 70 something Mum in it).

iwillnevereatspaghetti · 11/03/2020 09:09

I wouldn't wear it but then I'm short and fat. My tall friends would be able to get away with it.

Iamthewombat · 11/03/2020 09:11

Has ‘shapely’ gone the way of ‘curvy’ and become a euphemism for ‘a bit fat’?

I am confused because I recall when the term ‘shapely legs’ appeared to be a compliment? (Although I have not heard it used like that since the 1980s, so who knows?)

yumscrumfatbum · 11/03/2020 09:15

Those sleeves are a deal breaker for me, they are a nightmare under a coat! They clump up at the elbows and are so uncomfortable and annoying!

SunnySomer · 12/03/2020 21:42

Wombat was that to me? If so, I meant hour glass shaped, so tunic style things make me look matronly, particularly as my bust has dropped an inch or so over the last ten years 😁

brighterdays2 · 12/03/2020 22:33

The cut reads 'old' to me, it's not a style you'd often see on anyone under 50.

DidoLamenting · 13/03/2020 03:04

I'm 60. It's hideous and looks really cheap. I wouldn't be seen dead in anything as dull as that.

73Sunglasslover · 14/03/2020 00:27

I'm a bit worried about how many people think this is old! I'm only 46 and I like it. Perhaps my style needs a shake up! What would people advise for a slightly chubby, short-ish woman who really feels the cold? (must be able to layer up. A jumper alone will not keep me warm).

Cherrypie098 · 14/03/2020 15:45

Maybe a poncho over a jumper? Or a polo neck jumper with a cardigan over it? (I’m thinking a cardigan without buttons - maybe a waterfall cardigan, or with a dressing gown style belt.)

OP posts:
73Sunglasslover · 14/03/2020 20:15

Ponchos are fab inside but you can't wear them under a coat. Polo neck jumpers are said to be a no no for us big busted ladies (I'm 32G), but perhaps I should challenge that!

Cherrypie098 · 14/03/2020 21:47

A crew neck or scoop neck jumper under a cardigan would also work, and you could add a scarf if you’re chilly!

OP posts:
MerryDeath · 14/03/2020 21:49

sorry, i think this is as granny as it gets

Cherrypie098 · 14/03/2020 23:24

Hush sometimes have some nice chunky cardigans!

copycopypaste · 15/03/2020 07:56

I ordered it from NEXT, and yes I'm late 40s Grin

Not as lovely as I thought. The knit is quite flimsy and I think would crease easily. I thought it would have more structure (if that makes sense) looks lovely on but I also think it would lose its shape quickly after a few wears and washes. Too expensive for me to throw away in a few months as it looks tatty.

PickleBottomNo3sMum · 15/03/2020 08:13

I think it’s nice, the colour is lovely but think it’d suit ladies with smaller boobs to avoid it hanging loose.

TheWordmeister · 15/03/2020 11:42

It is exactly what my 83-year-old mother in law wears.

evilharpy · 16/03/2020 06:49

It’s a no from me. I’m 39 and would feel very old and matronly in this. I’m a pear and find that tunic styles make my hips look even wider and give me a frumpy look.

simiisme · 22/03/2020 18:18

As you're a size 8 it will not look like you're trying to hide your shape, as some people said.
BTW I'm a size 22, so I'm not 'fattist' before people start flaming me! But loose clothing is more flattering on the petite.

Huelva94 · 22/03/2020 18:32

It's a lovely jumper... Comfy, stylish and easy to wear. Looks great with skinny jeans and with or without a long necklace if you wanted to dress it up.

Chrestomanciscat · 22/03/2020 18:37

Hi - lovely jumper I've looked at that. Don't know about you but I'm pear shaped and the jumper hangs down straight to my widest part so I looked massive - but then im size 18 anyway. Good luck x

CallmeBadJanet · 22/03/2020 18:46

Fuck no. It would look good on nobody! I'm 53 and 3/4s + and have now decided to wear whatever I want as long as I don't look like Atomic Mutton. But that jumper is from the wardrobe of (as Irish MIL would say) Mary Bangor.

emilybrontescorsett · 22/03/2020 20:02

I wouldn’t wear it because the sleeves aren’t warm enough for me!

AJTracey · 22/03/2020 20:04

Its really fuddy duddy not in anyway stylish you sound gorgeous! You can do better
