I would wear it with skinny jeans. What draws me to it is that I love the colour and it doesn’t contain wool, to which I’m allergic. My hesitation is that I’m 41, and at this age I wonder whether it would look ageing? On a woman in her 20s it would not, but at this age I’m not sure!

If you're a size 8 then I agree I would go out and show your amazing figure. Do you know what body shape you are? In my opinion this is best suited for a rectangle or a pear. If you're anything else or have a larger bust this will just make you look gigantic. To me it screams "I'm Middle aged with a mum tum and I want to hide my body". If you are set on it then at least do a French tuck at the front.

stophuggingme · 10/03/2020 20:56

If you are lean and willowy with small breasts and slim hips it is great

friendineed · 10/03/2020 20:58

Perfect for you. Hideous on me as I'm short with short arms, so this sleeve length looks like it shrunk in the wash and I'd look like a mushroom.

Cherrypie098 · 10/03/2020 21:02

I don’t know what official body shape I am, but my measurements are 34-27-36.

(As measured just now, after dinner!)

I disagree with the posts above. I think tall slim women look fantastic in oversized tops - just because you’re slim doesn’t mean you have to wear fitted clothes all the time.

I love some of the Phase Eight asymmetric jumpers OP, I think you might too if you have a look (sadly I’m neither tall nor slim but wear them anyway 😬)

Girlintheframe · 10/03/2020 21:32

It's ok, not really my cup of tea. I'm 47 and wouldn't wear it. Think it's quite frumpy and would look quite dull on.

Cherrypie098 · 10/03/2020 21:32

Oo, thanks - I’ll have a look!

I think it's awful.
Looks cheap and you'd probably find a nicer sack.
Sorry.
People will buy it simply because it's Joules and it fits with their aspirations.Hmm

merryhouse · 10/03/2020 22:21

I think it's boring. And I'm 50.

Those sleeves would drive me mad.

And why on earth is she wearing it with jeans which are almost but not quite the same colour?

Lily193 · 11/03/2020 01:05

I don't like the messy necklace or the chunkiness.

cakeandchampagne · 11/03/2020 01:29

It’s a very pretty colour, but I think the style might make you look heavier and older.

StarlightLady · 11/03/2020 05:51

I’d wear it. I’m a similar age. I prefer the oat colour and think it needs to be fairly but not very tight; maybe try a size down.

The sleeves would put me off though. I would worry about catching them and getting them in my spaghetti.

YouForgetYourself · 11/03/2020 06:24

I have one really similar to the oat one, bought in H&M a few years ago. It's a staple on rotation in my wardrobe. Not frumpy Grin

Thehop · 11/03/2020 06:27

If I was a size 8 I wouldn’t give a shit how old I was I’d wear a bikini on the school run! It’s lovely, you enjoy the jumper and skinnies

Fairylea · 11/03/2020 06:29

I’m nearly 40 and I think it’s frumpy, sorry. You can get very similar things for half the price in H and M or Primark. Fancy sleeves are fashionable at the moment but the overall style is like someone trying to hide their figure- which you certainly don’t need to be doing (well no one should but you know what I mean)!

OverByYer · 11/03/2020 06:39

Frumpy. I think Joules as a brand screams middle age / Home Counties

neverdoingthatagain100 · 11/03/2020 06:46

I think it's very frumpy.

Iamthewombat · 11/03/2020 06:51

The only thing that would make it more frumptastic would be if it were available in beige.

Oh, wait! It comes in ‘an oat colour’. Splendid!

SallyWD · 11/03/2020 06:53

Gorgeous. I love it. Might buy it myself!

ooooohbetty · 11/03/2020 06:53

I think it's nice and be more likely to be worn by a woman in her 40's upwards than someone in their 20's

Ginfordinner · 11/03/2020 07:05

I like the shape and the colour, but hate the sleeves. I prefer long sleeves that cover my wrists. After all, I wear a jumper to keep warm, and that style of sleeves wouldn't work for me.

Cherrypie098 · 11/03/2020 08:01

Thank you for the honest comments! I can see both ways of looking at it - drapey in a chic way, or baggy in a frumpy way! On balance I’m thinking I probably won’t buy it, much as I love the colour. (A lot of colours don’t suit me very well, but that shade of blue is the best colour for me! I’ll see if I can find it elsewhere!)

Just out of interest, who is actually allowed to wear oversized jumpers, if slim people ought to be "showing off their figures" and not-slim people look as if they're "trying to hide their tummies"? And so what if I am trying to hide my tummy? Should I be wearing a crop top with hipster jeans and letting it hang out?? Fashion sure is confusing.

dkl55 · 11/03/2020 08:37

I'm 42 and wouldn't wear it now or when I was younger. Think it looks a bit frumpy. However if you're taller it may look elegant. I'm a size 8 or 1 but only 5'4 so things like this tend to drown me.
