These ‘Jimmy Choos’ are fake, right?

Name changed in case the seller finds this thread. Don’t fancy them having access to all my old posts!

Bought these ‘Jimmy Choos’ from eBay and I’m so sure they are fake, but the seller is doing a very convincing ‘you’ve hurt my feelings’ routine so I just need someone else to see it!

For me the giveaways are:

  • Weird black marks on both labels
  • Stitching on one of the labels is totally off-centre
  • Brown glue showing all along the side of one of the shoes

Despite insisting they’re real she’s been awfully quick to refund me but I’m wondering if I should even be returning them? If they’re definitely fake I don’t want some other sucker buying them instead.

eBay say if I take them to the JC store and get them to write a letter confirming they’re fake then I don’t have to return them, but that honestly just sounds far too embarrassing!

I have no idea but the black mark on the label could just indicate that they were discounted. I've seen this done in luxury shops before.

JKScot4 · 06/03/2020 09:24

Very poor finish, I’d say fake. Is she selling more? if yes that would suggest fake copies.

RiskIt4Biscuit · 06/03/2020 09:24

Try asking here: forum.purseblog.com/threads/authenticate-those-shoes.32044/

Make sure you follow the instructions for pictures as per the first post to make it as easy for them as possible

Good luck!

WhatTheChoo · 06/03/2020 09:25

That’s what I was wondering about. Hmm. But the bad stitching and the brown glue along the soles is too much to ignore.

No I checked out her profile very thoroughly before buying and it all looked very legit.

Might try purseforum, thanks!

I don’t think they’re fake, I think they are seconds, hence the black mark on the label (a lot of outlets do this) and the crappy glue marks.

SinkGirl · 06/03/2020 09:27

Marks on both labels would usually indicate they are seconds, which would make sense with the glue being visible. Not sure why someone would fake them and then mark the labels like this, so they perhaps are real but rejects.

LouLouLoo · 06/03/2020 09:28

I’m on my phone but from the pictures you’ve posted I’d say they’re real. I have some JC shoes that I’ve never worn, the glue is showing on those. They weren’t like it when I bought them but it’s happened over time.

If you use authenticate4u, they’ll charge you £5 to certify them (no connection to them other than I’ve used them before).

WhatTheChoo · 06/03/2020 09:31

Hmm this is all very interesting. She’s already refunded me (before I’ve even returned them) which I thought was odd but this is making me feel better about returning them to her now.

OP posts:
WhatTheChoo · 06/03/2020 09:33

If they were seconds though why doesn’t she just say so? She’s insisting she bought them from the Jimmy Choo shop in Knightsbridge.

OP posts:
Bluntness100 · 06/03/2020 09:36

She may have bought them there, they are clearly purchased in the sale and could have been seconds.

Krong · 06/03/2020 09:41

Agree they are seconds or made for outlet. Did you not see photos before you bought them? The condition is awful.

ronswansonstache · 06/03/2020 09:44

They are probably made by Jimmy Choo, but looks like they might have come from a sample sale. Most of the sample sales I've been to mark or cut through the label to show it has been made as a sample & has never been a full price item.

How much did you pay for them?

JJSS123 · 06/03/2020 09:45

I work for a shoe designer which is stocked in Harrods and selfridges just saying for reference, and the glue marks happen to a lot more shoes than what you’d think. The state some of the stock arrives in is awful. Black dots are sometimes put on, would normally only be on the right shoe as thats the only one that’s normally displayed for ladies for theft reasons. That’s all I can add but I hope you get sorted soon xx

WhatTheChoo · 06/03/2020 09:48

I did see photos but the stitching and the leaking glue wasn’t visible in them. The black mark on one label was visible but I thought that was just a stain as they were used. When they arrived and I realised it was on both I was more alarmed.

She was very quick to refund me so I have to return them now even if they are genuine (albeit seconds) but at least my faith in humanity is intact!

£110 which she’s already refunded.

JJSS123 that’s interesting (and worrying) about the glue!

Rosalo · 06/03/2020 09:50

Send them back to her.

WhatTheChoo · 06/03/2020 09:51

I am packing them up to return right now!

OP posts:
JJPC · 06/03/2020 09:52

I’ve Jimmy Choos bought in the sale from the JC website and they have the black dot. The glue could just be from age, they look relatively well worn.

Scbchl · 06/03/2020 09:52

100% Fake, they are such poor quality.

titchy · 06/03/2020 09:53

I'd have thought JC was one of those brands that destroyed seconds rather than palm them off at a high-end store.

WhatTheChoo · 06/03/2020 09:55

Scbchl what makes you so sure? I think the off-centre stitching on one label is the other big sign for me, apparently that’s one of the things to look out for.

OP posts:
JJSS123 · 06/03/2020 10:07

Just to add I’ve seen labels on the wrong way round and with awful stitching come directly from the warehouse at shoes which are £300+ honestly some of the states

Chillichutney1 · 07/03/2020 23:52

Why are you looking to not return them? She’s refunded you.

Jimmy Choo have - or had, an outlet store in Bicester Village, maybe she bought them from there vastly marked down and didn’t want to say

TheMemoryLingers · 07/03/2020 23:56

If they were fakes, surely they wouldn't put a huge blob on the label.
