Where can I find 'normal' cardigans?

I need some cardigans that aren't too thin or thick, button up and sit above the hips (ie no long ones) and the colour can't be see through. Any ideas as to where I can find these mythical cardigans that I see on tv??

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie

What other colours would you like? (Not being snarky, just curious).

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 29/02/2020 17:50

Deep colours - deep red, aubergine, a really dark khaki
More shades of grey
Maybe a really bright pink or a proper dusty pink

sewoverit.co.uk/product-category/cardigans/

These are the type to pop over a summer dress.

BubblesBuddy · 29/02/2020 18:28

Try Woolovers, or Brora, or Cashmere Centre.

YouStupidBoy · 29/02/2020 20:14

Boden and Uniqlo.

Xylophonics · 29/02/2020 21:39

Joules and Zara

Woolovers are my go-to cardigan sellers. They have an excellent range of styles, almost all of which are warm, comfortable and machine-washable. Despite the name, they're not all wool (some summer cardies are cotton or silk) but I think they are all natural fibres and they wear very well. They're cosy and hygge, like a hug you can wear. I love them!

I like Zara but their basic knitwear is terrible

BubblesBuddy · 01/03/2020 09:36

Are Benetton still open anywhere? My local one closed!

I have found lots of Boden knitwear bobbles. It’s not cheap so I’m no longer a fan. Their quality is very variable.

nitgel · 01/03/2020 09:37

Uniqlo every time they last ages

BikeRunSki · 01/03/2020 09:40

Woolovers x 100

I have some Mantaray cardigans which are as you described. Bought mine from Debenhams

bellocchild · 06/03/2020 19:40

Landsend do all-cotton fine-knit cardies which wash well and come in many, many colours.

purplecorkheart · 06/03/2020 19:49

I got a few nice ones on Asos and Warehouse. Got a couple from m&s but it has been a few weeks ago. Other Stories have some nice ones but can be expensive. I have a couple that I wash in the wool cycle in my machine but probably should handwash

TableNiner · 06/03/2020 20:21

My specialist subject, I wear classic cardigans almost every day, all year round. I like a shop that does a big range of colours as I won't wear black.

Woolovers, sizing is big though, I'm an 8-10 and the XS still come up big.

Benetton. There's a big one on Oxford Street with loads in the back

Dorothy Perkins normally do some, quality not great

M&S basic cardigans. A little on the short side but good value

Gap have some merino wool ones, never pay full price, got one this week for £9. Again would say they come up big

My splurge is House of Bruar. Lovely cashmere ones in some lovely colours and fairly true to size

Lands End, wool and cotton options available. Not tried them myself as they look a little frumpy and some of the reviews mention declining quality

Housewife2010 · 06/03/2020 20:45

I stopped buying Boden knitwear after buying so many items that pilled on the first wearing. Fortunately their returns process is great.

Firecracker2019 · 06/03/2020 20:55

I got a lovely pale pink one from a Gap outlet a couple of weeks ago.

Sissyjd · 07/03/2020 01:09

Zara H&M Primark M&S....

HemlockStarglimmer · 07/03/2020 07:29

Our local Edinburgh Woollen Mill has quite a selection of reduced cashmere at the moment including cardigans. And they are machine washable.

NeonCasual · 13/03/2020 13:05

I recently brought a really lovely one from Mistral?
Good selection of knitwear at the moment and 20% off New in, so can't go wrong... Grin
