Are No7 moisturisers worth the money?

I was thinking of getting some Lift and Luminate but it's £26 a pot! Even with a £5 voucher it's more than my Oil Of Olay stuff. Is it worth it? Skin is feeling quite dry so I want something which helps moisturise it and any lumination/brightness would be an added bonus.

It didnt to much for be, tbh.

Newnamewhodis1 · 26/02/2020 15:08

No. Buy cheap moisturiser and buy decent serum

Newnamewhodis1 · 26/02/2020 15:10

And use SPF

BookMeOnTheSudExpress · 26/02/2020 15:11

^ this.
A mid range moisturiser like n7, Olay, L'Oreal, Revlon, Garnier etc isn't going to change your life.
Ones with which I have seen a difference have been Liz Earle Superskin, Neal's Yard frankincense and L'Occitane divine.
Treat myself once a year or so but generally spend more on serums and use Nivea to moisturise.

Ridethewaves · 26/02/2020 15:16

I love the no. 7 moisturisers. They're really good for sensitive skin in my opinion. I've tried loads of different brands and always come back to no.7.
I think it just comes down to personal preference.

BonSoirMonCherie · 26/02/2020 15:17

Spend your money on actives, serums and an oil.

I use Aldi moisturiser but spend an obscene amount much more on stuff that will actually treat my skin.

VivaLeBeaver · 26/02/2020 15:17

That's interesting. I've used protect no7 serum before and didn't notice any difference so assumed serums were just new fangled useless rubbish.

So sounds like serum is the way to go but a better one than no7? Thanks will investigate other brands.

Get yourself some hyaluronic acid as a first step and use that on damp skin under your moisturiser. Can make a huge difference to some people.

The Ordinary is a good budget friendly one.

VivaLeBeaver · 26/02/2020 15:24

So hyalonic acid, then moisturiser, then serum?

I've got some hyalonic acid but I thought it was a type of moisturiser and have been using it instead of not as well as.

Liz earle currently 20% off. Smile

What serums do people recommend? In particular for someone who is 50 with ok skin and fine lines, no wrinkles.

BookMeOnTheSudExpress · 26/02/2020 15:41

Hyaluronic is a serum.
You need
Cleanse
Acid Tone
Serums
Moisturise

Superdrug Pure is as cheap as chips and is a hydrating serum. Vichy Aqualia is another. I like Vichy 89 which is also HA plus other hydrating wotsits.

The biggest gamechanger serum is a Vit C one. I love the Vichy Lift activ one, one of few products where I literally can feel and see a difference after a day.

The Boots serums I think are very good, especially that range they brought out last year.

BookMeOnTheSudExpress · 26/02/2020 15:43

Notacooldad- I am 54 and use the ones above. I've been told I look in my early 40s. though I'm sure much of that is genes, diet, sunscreen etc

caperplips · 26/02/2020 16:32

Can I please ask if The Ordinary is good for sensitive skin?
I have struggled all my life (now approaching 50!!) with breakouts, mild acne, dry patches, oily patches and just generally crap skin. It is so unbelievably depressing.

I reckon I have tried every skincare range going, have taken antibiotics etc.

I have sort of given up and am now using La Roche Posay Toleraine cleanser and Aldi Le Mer moisturiser and it's still crap most of the time.

I have seen The Ordinary very recently and am curious about it.

I have no idea where to start these days

notacooldad · 26/02/2020 16:36

bookme
Thanks, I'll take a look!

BonSoirMonCherie · 26/02/2020 17:40

Book yes adding vitamin c and retinol in have been game changers for me too.

userabcname · 26/02/2020 17:56

I quite like no 7 - keep an eye out for sales, I've always bought mine for £12.50 when they go half price.

Doodlesquah1 · 26/02/2020 18:57

I absolutely love No7 moisturisers

Ponks · 26/02/2020 19:34

No 7 moisturisers are great, I like the Protect and Perfect or the Restore and Renew, the Lift & Luminate one did nothing for me.

Fidgety31 · 26/02/2020 20:59

I got no7 moisturisers and serum in my advent calendar but they all seemed to give me spots
Maybe because I don’t usually bother with moisturiser my skin isn’t used to it all?
I’m 44 and still have oily skin

Megan2018 · 26/02/2020 21:02

I really like them. I’ve used them for a lot of my life and have fantastic skin and barely any lines at almost 42. Not sure if it is connected.

nancyjuice7 · 26/02/2020 21:07

Nope not worth the money.

Use https://www.cerave.co.uk

And look into ceramides and Hyaluronic Acid

ShivaDestroyerOfEvil · 26/02/2020 21:11

I used No 7 for years but couldn't tell the difference between the £30 ones and the £10 ones (always buy when 3 for 2).

I switched to Superdrug's Naturally Radiant range which is vegan/not tested on animals. Google it, its really cheap and I prefer it - gets fab reviews.

ShivaDestroyerOfEvil · 26/02/2020 21:12

Also, switched to No7 after a lifetime on Decleor and posh brands when I gave up work to have kids. I really don't think there is much difference between one thing and another tbh!

Ginfordinner · 26/02/2020 21:17

TBH I don't find that anything I use makes any difference. I have always used moisturiser though, and have always been told that I don't look my age (61). I have used Protect and Perfect serum before, and like the product, but I'm not convinced how good it really is.

I just think it is down to personal preference, and whether your skin likes the product.

Wowzel · 26/02/2020 21:19

I switched from No7 to the aldi caviar and have noticed no difference
