“Fine lines” under the eye

BunnytheBee · 22/02/2020 16:42

I’m 35 and probably have an average amount of this under my eyes but it really bothers me because I also have quite dark circles but corrector and concealer just highlights the lines

So I need help with minimising the lines generally and also maybe concealer tips?

I’ve been trying to use less concealer and use it lower down, away from the lines, but find it hard to avoid them...

I'm a bit older than you, but similar problem area. I also have dry skin around my eyes which makes concealing even more difficult.

Max Factor Pan Stick applied with a stiff brush is the best thing for me, because it's quite pliable if that makes sense. It's almost waxy so doesn't just skim over the top of wrinkles, and it isn't drying.

BunnytheBee · 22/02/2020 16:52

Oh I haven’t heard of that so just googled I. Is it a foundation?

What concealer are you using? I personally find pan stick very thick and cakey, which shows off my wrinkles more. Touche éclat or garnier eye roll on (both nice thin consistency and light reflecting rather than thick coverage) does the job for me and doesn't sit in wrinkles. The minute I apply thick foundation or creamy concealer - I'm in trouble!

BunnytheBee · 22/02/2020 17:35

I use a corrector, usually the Armani liquid one, and then currently I’m using the Nars creamy concealer, also liquid

Touché eclat wouldnt hide my circles

I used the garnier one years ago and haven’t tried it again. I might try it again as I used to like it

Is it a foundation?

It is by design, but is too heavy to wear all over the face. It's quite an old-fashioned product, so the look it gives as a foundation is not a modern one!

NaughtyLittleElf · 22/02/2020 17:45

I find that all concealers sit in my fine lines and make them much more noticeable. I wear a medium coverage foundation that's fairly dewey and go right up under my eyes.

BunnytheBee · 22/02/2020 18:01

I’ll have a look at the MF thing then

I think maybe I’m going to have this problem with any concealer too

I wondered if a blurring or pore filling primer would help but it didn’t seem to when I tried it yesterday!

I can’t find the garnier eye roll on that I used to use, they had a clear caffeine one and then concealer ones. Now there’s just a BB eye cream on the Boots website...

I just remembered the Maybelline eye eraser(?) one is quite thin and light so might try that too

Could your application technique be making things worse? There are some good YouTube clips on how to apply products to the under the eye area.

BunnytheBee · 22/02/2020 19:03

Could your application technique be making things worse?

Possibly

The only thing I can think that would help is some YouTube videos say to use a tiny amount of concealer on each corner of the eye and then blend. I’ve tried that but that amount of concealer does nothing for my dark circles.

Maybe I need to choose between hiding my dark circles and minimising my wrinkles?

Or maybe I need to target my dark circles another way eg more sleep and water and a better eye cream...

I’ve heard of tear duct fillers or something but haven’t looked into it.

And what I’d really like is to get rid of my fine lines around my eyes. That’s the only place I have them but it’s right up to the lower lash line. I have one of those anti wrinkle lights on order (in a fab fit fun box) but not sure you can use it right up there anyway

Botox. Preventative. It’s the dogs

BunnytheBee · 22/02/2020 19:08

Is Botox expensive? Would it need doing every few months? I feel like if I start now then that’s it for life, I won’t be able to stop...

Botox didn't work at all for me in that area. I haven't tried tear trough fillers because I bruise when I have fillers. I've had good results with retinol but it takes time.

AnnDaloozier · 22/02/2020 20:58

Who cares? It’s amazing. I have done under my eyes - fab

Mamazita · 22/02/2020 21:26

Try a retinol eye serum. The Inkey list have just released one

BunnytheBee · 22/02/2020 21:30

Well I can’t say time and money are no object lol and it sounds a bit more than I can be bothered with atm

Try a retinol eye serum

I didn’t realise you could use retinol products around the eyes 👀

You can only have Botox in crows feet area, definitely not under the eye.

Retinol products are good. You can get some for the eye area.

BunnytheBee · 22/02/2020 22:05

I don’t really have crows feet, it is just under the lash line

To be fair my under eye area is not that bad it’s only with concealer that it bothers me

OP posts:
AnnDaloozier · 22/02/2020 22:07

I have it under. On the bone. Is fab

PenelopeFlintstone · 22/02/2020 22:08

Delatron · 22/02/2020 22:16

The bone isn’t under the lash line though so you can’t inject Botox in to the wrinkles just under the lash line?

I’ve also had Botox on the bone under the eyes but that’s quite a way under the eye.

BunnytheBee · 22/02/2020 22:25

Yes it’s not really a problem there. I’m sure u have v fine lines there but they don’t cause any issue with make you it’s a couple of mm under the eye and it’s creasing sigh

Which eye retinol is every body using?

Mamazita · 22/02/2020 23:03

I use Dermatica tretinoin around my eye area, but that’s strong and not for everyone. I’ve read great reviews for the Inkey list retinol eye serum though. Paula’s choice do one too, but it’s much more expensive

BunnytheBee · 22/02/2020 23:05

Haven’t heard of that either

Lots to look into!

I need to get to work now before they get worse. I mean, ageing happens, but I don’t even always use eye cream... 🙈

The Ordinary do a caffeine eye serum which is apparently very good and not expensive
