Can you recommenced something amazing to save my coloured hair that isn’t olaplex??

Have always had dark coloured hair but last few months have had some fine bleach high lights put in and it is not doing the condition any favours. Olaplex is not for me at all. Feels like straw after using it at home.

Iv tried loads of different masks for coloured hair but none leave the dark shiny and the bleach looking ok?! I use heat protector and use an oil also which has helped but it never looks healthy and swishy anymore? Sad

@ Roominmyhouse you contradict what you say about protein there?

Redken extreme anti-snap really helped my long coloured hair when it all went to shit post-pregnancy.

I honestly would try and find a salon that uses Joico. undamaged hair is hydrophobic and prevents water getting in to the shaft. Once water gets into the shaft of damaged hair it dilutes the colour the washes out.

I really rate the quadramine peptide complex ingredient for addressing damage

I agree with Roominmyhouse. Too much protein doesn't work for me. Things like using coconut oil, opalex, pk are all heavy on the protein and they make my hair worse. You need to get the balance of protein right. I seriously struggle with frizz which has got much much worse since having highlights. My hair has always been a bit wayward but since menopause and the highlights it's been a nightmare

@Wonderingwhyme sorry, what I mean is that you need something with protein and moisture, not something heavily geared to the protein side if you see what I mean?

I like redken so soft, I've just ordered the treatment too. I also like the ogx argan oil treatment (blue one). I have long highlighted blonde (I'm naturally dark ish brown except about 25% grey now!). Ive got the pureology hydrate (purple) range too. Try silicone free.

@Wonderingwhyme you could be describing me here! My hair is perpetually frizzy (all this rain isn’t helping at the moment tho) and I swing from being a frizzball (Even with hair masks and leave in conditioners) to looking greasy if I put a serum or oil in.
I’ve found in the past keratin blow dry helps make my hair more manageable and shinier but at the moment I can’t justify the price

Wonderingwhyme · 09/03/2020 09:00

I’d love the keratin blow dry but feel it would make it look better but be bad for condition.... I have the driest scalp at the moment so the whole lot is messed up! Lots of little broken hairs on the top sticking out too! What a delight I am!

Check with your hairdresser re the broken hairs..... I thought I had the same but mine told me they are baby hairs! Ie new hair growing in. In my experience the keratin treatment wasn’t bad for my hair. Feel free to message me and I will send you details where I get mine down in London.
