I’m seriously stuck in a hair rut! Currently highlighted with root regrowth every 6 weeks or so.

I’m 39 and went grey in my 20s, so no colour at all is not really an option. I tried to embrace my grey and looked awful.

I’m thinking of going darker with a chunky fringe cut in? Also maybe something with the length.

Does anyone have any ideas or advice?

I think this would suit you

Keep in mind that if you go darker the grey regrowth can appear more visable due to the contrast between the white and dark hairs.
Personally I like your colour and think you’ve got cracking cheekbones so something to highly your lovely bone structure.

AnuvvaMuvva · 20/01/2020 09:10

I LOVE that colour on you! I wouldn't go darker, you'll look less "glowy" and as the PP said, your roots will need more frequent touch-ups.

You look gorgeous. I'd just change the style if you're bored, not the colour. A long side-swept fringe, or a bit more length.

PETRONELLAS · 20/01/2020 09:10

Your hair really suits you. I’m not sure a fringe would. The pic above is lovely - a sharper angled edge slightly shorter than what you’ve got. I’m dark but thought going grey is easier on blonde hair. Could you go lighter with highlights so the grey doesn’t show up as much? If it’s a problem. Hair colour is lovely.

emsyj37 · 20/01/2020 09:15

We have similar colouring I think, based on your photo. I went dark with a fringe last year and whilst it did suit me, I couldnt get used to being dark after being blonde for ever. If you've been blonde a long time you will probably look lovely dark but hate it. My hairdresser did warn me about this but I didn't listen. My hair is now ruined from going back to blonde! Unhelpful, sorry.
In short, yes brown with a chunky fringe would look lovely, but you probably won't feel 'right'.

TurduckenFucken · 20/01/2020 09:19

Do you tint the roots every 6 weeks, or just do highlights? I really like the colour. If you’re bored with it how about a more edgy length of bob?

parsnippoop · 20/01/2020 09:26

I think your colour looks great & it suits you & looks natural. Dark is lovely but the upkeep would be hard work.

Maybe some more layers around the face & chop it above shoulders?

Inforthelonghaul · 20/01/2020 09:27

I think you suit the light colouring, perhaps try a little more ash tones but don’t go darker. I had a shoulder length bob but had it chopped off the about an inch below my jawline, blunt cut sand very slightly angled. I think it’s much more flattering, I felt that longer hair was focusing on my developing jowls and the gap between hair and shoulder means your focus is higher. If you want a fringe, try a longer angled one to start with, a blunt heavy fringe can be a tricky style to pull off.

PixieDustt · 20/01/2020 09:29

I think going to dark can add age sometimes.
I think a light brown with some lighter undertones would suit you and a fringe that falls into place with your hair so it's blended in but a softer fuller fringe but not a chunky fringe

Thankyou for the kind comments. I used to change my hair colour all the time, from black to red to purple to brown etc... it took a lot of time and expense going from a red dye job to the blonde, so if I do have it dark and hate it it’s going to cost me more time and money getting it back, and as an above poster mentioned, the condition will take a battering.

I really love that photo that littlebb posted [thank you]. The colour and the style are lovely.

Your hair is lovely just as it is.

Chochito · 20/01/2020 16:08

Colour is great and suits you. Take off 2 or 3 inches and get the stylist to give it more movement. You can also style it on a wide barrelled curler to get a look similar to the one in the photo (curl each strand in the opposite direction to the previous one).

Popuppippa · 20/01/2020 16:29

That pic. is great and would really suit your face and hair. I wouldn't go much darker but maybe an ombre colour with demi permanent colour to try something different.

Needadviceplz · 21/01/2020 17:41

Grow it longer keep it blonde I think. Everyone wants short hair like that pic but think no one got time to style hair like that and will look scruffy.
I'd grow it longer and have it layered around the face will make you look younger too not that you look old!

emma6776 · 21/01/2020 20:20

I think your hair is gorgeous! I have hair envy!

Ilovethekitties · 21/01/2020 20:21

Looks great, but get some waves in there girl! Your hair is screaming for some body

Buggedandconfused · 21/01/2020 20:22

I think you look fab as you are!

honeybee1986 · 21/01/2020 20:28

Yes you look lovely as you are now OP x

lexiepuppy · 21/01/2020 22:08

Don't go dark. Blonde suits you.
If you want to change colour , I think pale pink would suit you and will wash out.

If anything grow your hair longer and curl it!

Ohyesiam · 21/01/2020 22:17

If I looked like you I wouldn’t change a thing

MiniGuinness · 21/01/2020 22:17

I have the same length and colour as you. I am also bored. I am currently growing it so I can wear it up, but I know that will be short lived, as I prefer shorter hair. What about a fringe? I am toying with the idea.

theneighbourswindchime · 21/01/2020 22:51

I think you'd suit a fringe

Lovely as you are. Don’t change it.

Sagradafamiliar · 22/01/2020 00:05

I really like your current look as well.

Overtheknee · 22/01/2020 00:05

This kind of thing would work for you. Mixture of high/lowlights to break up the colour and a curtain fringe to frame the face. Lots of texture too although it doesn’t have to be as rock chick of you don’t want that
