Do you notice what other people wear on holiday?

Morning all

I'm on holiday in a week, yay, but i'm too fat for my spring/summer clothes, boo.

I have 5 outfits I can fit into. I'm away 8 days. 2 days will be travelling so I'll wear the same thing out and back. That leaves 4 outfits for 6 days, in 30 degree heat.

It's with a tour group so i'll be moving around, but with the same people all the time. Do you think they will notice if I don't change for dinner each night, or re-wear the same clothes (with a sink wash in between)? It's a suitcases-type holiday, not backpacking (which would make so few clothes normal).

I'm keen not to buy things I don't really want (money and environment), but I dont want to feel uncomfortable either. I would typically bring 10 outfits for a 7 day holiday.

I feel I really should go out and get some more clothes, but it really is a waste. I dont want to stay this big. It's thailand, so I hear clothes are cheap there, but at my size (large 16) i'm not going to fit into anything on offer.

Laundry service is a good idea. I'll check if its offered.

Thanks for the non-see-through white t-shirt ideas. Shouldnt be as hard as it is to find!

I'll keep it simple so the pieces might be useful later in some other way.

Noone will notice, and you will have a lovely time op.

I don't notice what people are wearing unless they look really good or really really bad.

If you want to buy more stuff then do, if you don't then really don't bother.

Besides any other argue ant, why do you care if someone has a stray thought about your clothes, your not going to see those people again or need to worry about their opinion.

Non-see through T-shirt's, try M&S or Sainsbury's.

I wouldn’t notice, and would wear things more than once.

OP I've got a bag of size 16 summer clothes here I was going to take to the charity shop - I'd be happy to send them to you if you PM me

Cookit · 07/01/2020 18:14

Gosh, when I go on holiday I usually rewear most things. I bring a few tops, skirts and trousers or shorts and mix and match. Dresses would be worn twice usually.
I always assumed most people re-wore? So wouldn’t bother me if people noticed at all.

I second sports clothes in warm weather - sports direct has lots in for fairly cheap. Also primark is good for long floaty tshirts

tinkerbellla · 07/01/2020 21:48

ASOS will have lots and probably in the sale too

I've been to Thailand a few times. You should be able to buy suitable clothes there. You'll need a thin long sleeve shirt out there for the evening esp if you're prone to mozzie bites they come out as soon as the sun goes down. It's bloody hot out there day and night so you will need loose trousers (which I bought out there) You will want loose dresses. T-shirts will just stick to you. That said a vest top is great with skirt or shorts.
