Eyeliner that stays put

DelphiniumBlue · 27/12/2019 15:04

Inspired by the holy grail thread, I got thinking. I don't really have a holy grail of any makeup/product, but would like an eyeliner which stays put all day. I have been trying for years to find this, can anyone help?
I currently have Scandal Eyes, which is really long lasting as a shadow, but as eyeliner doesn't even make it 4 hours, let alone the promised 24.
I've also got a Bobbi Brown pencil- that doesn't last all day either, and worse still, both of them end up giving me smears and shadows under my eyes.
Can any body recommend one which stays on eyelids?

I need a pencil that won’t wear off on my upper water line. It’s uncomfortable to apply it in the first place... annoying to have it disappear quickly

I have found several answers to my own question The Cut article

The benefit one has amazing staying power way better than Rimmel and considerably more so than Charlotte Tilbury

Stila Stay All Day waterproof liner. It's like an indelible felt tip.

DelphiniumBlue · 28/12/2019 10:40

I've found that liquid liner doesn't necessarily version better than pencil. Some felt too ones start off ok, but after a month or so don't work so well. Bobbi Brown pots are ok for top eyelid but still smear on bottom ones.
I can't wear mascara, so I do like to have eyeliner top and bottom, but very subtly. It's not subtle when smeared down my face😢.
I have a SpaceNK nearby so am thinking of trying that, are they likely to stick Stila? Will also check out poundland for the BarryM! Benefit also sounds worth a try.

SpaceNK don’t stock Stila but M&S do.

I use the Benefit Roller liner and a very fine line lasts all day.

HarrietThePi · 28/12/2019 11:07

I seem to have sweaty eyelids and all eyeshadow and liners end up all over my face. I brush some lose face powder over my eye lids before applying any eye make up and it lasts for longer. Primers don't work for me.

Soap and Glory Smoulder Kohl is my favourite.

Shambolical1 · 28/12/2019 11:21

Still Smudge Sticks stay on well. Doll 10 All Eye Need liners are excellent and properly self sharpening. Those are both gel pencil types; in liquid felt-tips Stila Stay All Day is good, as are the L'Oreal ones.

Luckingfovely · 28/12/2019 11:44

Gosh. This has suddenly opened my eyes to something.

I moved fairly recently to tightlining upper eyelids rather than above the lash line, on the advice of a mu artist.

Also, I've been moaning that every mascara I use runs half way down my face in hours suddenly.

Just realised it's probably the eyeliner and I need to get a better one for tightlining!?!

Any advice? (and sorry for hijacking!)

SchnitzelVonKrumm · 28/12/2019 11:50

L'Oreal Infallible is a fiver and doesn't budge.

TreesRUs · 28/12/2019 11:53

The thing I’ve found really helps this is an eyelid primer - my eyelids seem to be surprisingly greasy Hmm

Benefit used to do a great one called lemonade or something lemony, and Nars is good too.

FatherRabulaConundrum · 28/12/2019 12:01

Laura Mercier tightliner applied with a flat brush - clean line, doesn't smudge.

DelphiniumBlue · 28/12/2019 20:01

Infallible used to work on me, but doesn't anymore. Might have to try primer.

Primark vinyl liner doesn't move and nyx slide on glide on pencil doesnt shift either.

I had cause to bawl my eyes out recently and although my face was a big red mess my eye makeup stayed put.

BlackSwan · 28/12/2019 23:45

Bought the urban decay one today - wore it tonight - took ages to get it to transfer any pigment and after a few hours has evaporated. Waste of money - disappointing particularly as it’s called a ‘waterline’ pencil

Hi everyone

I have oily eye lids and tried so many eyeliners. I've had many just slide off and reappear above or below my lids within an hour. I've tried everything and the only two have worked for me are:

  1. Clinique Pretty Easy eyeliner which even stays on after running!
  1. Bobbi brown gel liner applied with a brush

Neither are cheap but I found you get what you pay for. Both stayed in place all day but the Clinique one is slightly better for longevity.
Good luck op I feel your pain Smile

FloraMacDonald · 29/12/2019 12:49

Thanks @Kanelbullar. I've been watching this thread. I have very oily, hooded eyelids & sensitive eyes. I'll try the Clinique one.

ZeldaPrincessOfHyrule · 29/12/2019 13:16

I don't use liquid liners but for pencils I've never found anything that beats Urban Decay. And their perversion black is really really black, I love it.

Legallybleachblonde · 29/12/2019 13:50

Kat Von D tattoo eyeliner gets lots of thumbs up. I think someone was wearing it when they were in a car accident and it stayed put! It went viral on the internet!

Another vote for Stila Stay All Day. I was at a work fo where I started drinking at 10.30am 2 weeks ago (don't ask), ended up in a nightclub until 3am then up at 5 am vomitting through to 9am. After sleeping to midday, I went to shower and found that my eyeliner was still pretty much exactly as I had applied it.

BlackSwan · 29/12/2019 18:25

If that's how you want to measure success Ceejily Shock...
But seriously, does it work on your waterline too?

Ceejly · 29/12/2019 20:43

@BlackSwan Upper waterline yes, lower eaterline I use Bobbi Brown kohl on. Do not find kohl to ever be as long lasting though sadly
