Has anyone successfully reduced cellulite?

Feeling quite down at the mo as I’m not overweight (Bmi and body fat both normal) but I’m plagued by cellulite. I feel especially bad about my arms because nobody else seems to have it there. I’m not very ‘booby’ either so I feel like I look like a chunky baby from the waist up.

Has anyone successfully managed to combat the dreaded cellulite?

Thanks Smile

I have cellulite on the backs of my thighs: I'm not overweight, and I exercise regularly. and eat a healthy diet.
I think that daily dry body brushing has helped a bit, and daily moisturising has improved the skin texture: Aldi Lacura Booty Balm is nice, but not on sale all the time; I plan to stock up when it's next in ( supposed to be a dupe of the Sol de Janeiro Bum Bum cream).
I tried an expensive Clarins cellulite lotion, but prefer the Aldi one, and it smells delicious.

Yes, but I wasn't overweight though & didn't have any until after I had DD & my health took a nose dive too & I did put some weight on, but not loads. I had it practically everywhere at that point.

Turned out I had pernicious anaemia/B12 deficiency & needed B12 injections with Co factor vitamins for my health & a welcome side effect was fresh cellulite disappeared. Reading up on Homocysteine & how low B12 causes high homocysteine in the blood, so basically toxins, it did make a lot of sense

The, it fresh Confused

Cut out all caffeine and drink loads of water, could almost guarantee you’ll see improvement in less than 2 weeks

Surreyblah · 18/12/2019 19:11

Am v prone to this. Lost weight, went from BMI 25 to 22, and improved my diet, looks better.

Mayhemmumma · 18/12/2019 20:38

Yes! Bounce exercise class - a work out on mini trampolines.
My thighs although still fat have never looked so smooth

Shreksearcandle · 18/12/2019 21:11

I was bothered about my cellulite when I was much younger and thinner, I'd always been good at drinking enough water but I found scrubbing with an exfoliating sponge in the shower, followed by using an oil gel like the Johnson's Baby one or the Vaseline one for adults on my thighs worked really well. Normal oil works ok too. The idea is that in order to rub it in you have to really work at it, so whereas ordinarily you'd rub a cream in for a few seconds you go much longer with a thick oil. If you use fake tan be aware that oil is the worst thing you can use so it'll be very dodgy in the areas you get oil on!

DianaT1969 · 18/12/2019 21:28

You don't drink Diet Coke by chance OP?
I used to. Gave it up and around 6 weeks later I realised I didn't have cellulite on my thighs anymore.

Dogwalks2 · 18/12/2019 21:35

rock in hippy
I’ve also got pernicious anemia and wasn’t aware of the association.
I’m also not over weight but have cellulite on my thighs and upper arms, the only thing that shifts it is running. Not the gym I do that twice a week weights and cardio but if I run the cellulite disappears. Unfortunately I’m not running at the moment but come January, no stopping me.

Runningonempty84 · 18/12/2019 22:07

Running. Don't know if it's the improved circulation or just being fitter and more toned, but mine has pretty much gone since I became a running addict.

Annasgirl · 18/12/2019 22:09

I second running - I spent my 20's trying all those diets and creams and body brushing then in my 30's and 40's discovered running - only a tiny bit of it now and I am 50!!!

tequilasunrises · 18/12/2019 22:15

Thank you all for replying Smile My New Years resolution shall be running and guzzling water - and maybe try a bounce class @Mayhemmumma that sounds amazing!!

I don’t drink Diet Coke @DianaT1969 but could probably do without the sugar elsewhere in my diet CakeWine

How much do you have to run? I jog slowly once or twice a week and still have it. I suppose I'd have to do a lot more?

worriedmama1980 · 19/12/2019 23:10

I had to completely cut out dairy because my daughter is allergic and I was breastfeeding: cellulite more or less disappeared. V unexpected side effect, took a few months then one day I just noticed in the shower it was gone.

It made me feel a lot better about my body in a weird way, not losing the cellulite, actually being face to face with the reality that I could get rid of it if I embraced an ice cream free life made me realise my cellulite actually isn't so terrible and that if given the choice I chose ice cream.

KellyHall · 19/12/2019 23:15

Get a body brush with massage beads built in, use it in gentle circles all over in the shower. Cycling and swimming has helped too. I don't particularly enjoy cycling so I use it as a mode of transport.

Yep. A slow jog every so often won't do much, I'm afraid.
Not sure what the tipping point is, but I generally run 30+ miles a week. That's a mixture of long steady runs and shorter speed work.

Cuddling57 · 20/12/2019 12:34

Does all the running mean I'll get rid of the cellulite but need new knees instead - sorry, I'm just looking for excuses!

@worriedmama1980 pass me the ice cream Grin

Lampan · 20/12/2019 12:37

Drinking water works WONDERS. Seriously. 2L a day and you will see a big improvement.
Also I think that Nivea(?) cellulite gel does help as well. Maybe it’s just the action of rubbing it in but I think it does do something. But not as much as the water.

DerbyshireGirly · 20/12/2019 12:38

I am prone to a moderate amount of cellulite but completely got rid of it through religiously dry body brushing, drinking loads of water and moisturising. I was also eating a healthy low carb diet too and exercising but I think it was more to do with the former.

Flythedragons · 20/12/2019 14:27

Watching with interest!

Gwenhwyfar · 20/12/2019 15:39

"I generally run 30+ miles a week. That's a mixture of long steady runs and shorter speed work."

Ok, thanks. That's not something I could even aspire to!

Runningonempty84 · 20/12/2019 16:15

That's not something I could even aspire to!
Any particular reason? That's minimal for most runners I know - most runners in my club are on 50 miles a week plus. And the fastest do 70 plus, which is bonkers to someone like me Shock
30 miles might sound a lot, but it's only one long run on a Sunday, a parkrun with warm up and warm down, and 2/3 other short runs midweek.
Anyway, I've derailed the thread with run chat - sorry!

thefarmerhasawife · 20/12/2019 17:31

I noticed a massive reduction in cellulite when I was clean eating, no caffeine, no alcohol no dairy and drinking 4 litres of water and exercising every day. Not much fun but no pain no gain!

Nacreous · 20/12/2019 17:37

At 6 miles an hour, that's 5 hours a week of running? An awful lot of people couldn't fit that in. I walk or cycle to or from work, and then also try to swim preferably twice a week, but I wouldn't be able to fit an extra 5 hours of exercise on top of my daily routine, even if I ditched the swimming.

My cellulite improved with swimming, but only when I upped the distances, so I was swimming maybe 2.5-4.5km in a single go (so 1-2 hours). Maybe it's hefty aerobic exercise that helps?

SureTry · 20/12/2019 17:38

The only times my cellulite has disappeared is through breastfeeding. I get it worse on the front of my thighs to the extent that I avoid anything that shows it off. I fully expect it to return with a vengeance once I stop 😩
