Tired of Cos/J Crew/Boden! Where do you shop?

I'm tired of Cos, same styles year in year out and so recognisable. J Crew and Boden are frumpy. Whistles' quality is dreadful. Maje stuff is very samey all the time. I've officially run out of places to shop? Are there any new good quality brands you'd recommend? I've looked at Sezanne but can't tell if it's good quality. Uniqlo is good for basics but not very exciting. Thanks!

Me+em, Ba&sh, Tara Harmon?

chloechloe · 15/12/2019 06:59

Sezane is generally lovely quality, although I did have one linen tshirt that got holes in straight away. I would give it a go - returns are free and straightforward.

Sooverthemill · 15/12/2019 07:03

Baukjen, me and em, banana republic, everlane. All have good quality basics. For more 'interesting' stuff you may need a boutique. Colleen and Clare and the Dressing Room both have stuff online

LunaTheCat · 15/12/2019 07:50

Toast? They have a sale currently.

dudsville · 15/12/2019 07:52

I recently tried & Other Stories, terrible fabrics. I want to try baukjen but it's a style shift.

dudsville · 15/12/2019 07:57

I just looked on their site. Has Baujken changed their style or am I thinking of a different company?

Nanasueathome · 15/12/2019 08:09

Toast...just Toast at the moment
Waiting for their Boxing Day sale now

pannikin · 15/12/2019 08:11

I like Seasalt.

WutheringTights · 15/12/2019 09:02

Hobbs has some lovely stuff. And I like Mango for the odd thing to perk it all up.

HundredMilesAnHour · 15/12/2019 09:02

Have a look at fairly new London brand Palones. I'm totally in love with them and wear lots of their clothes. I especially love their jackets and trousers but I haven't had anything I didn't like. Everything has a little twist to it so makes it interesting.

@dudsville can't see inside your head but Baukjen are known for quiet quality clothing, someone once said 'Boden for grown ups'. I have started buying classic bits from them, jumpers, trousers that I think will, last. Not super fashionable but well made. Definitely not for everyone ( much more fun stuff elsewhere) though . Look for their offers STYLE824 at the moment gets you 25% off non sale items

Zaaaaaaara. The best shop ever

JoanBonJovi · 15/12/2019 09:27

All the other ones are a bit exclusively middle aged. Zara is more challenging. Plus the website is easy to shop from.

BikeRunSki · 15/12/2019 09:28

If you are a size 12 or smaller, even when I was, I couldn’t get my calf muscles in their trousers.

Sooverthemill · 15/12/2019 09:31

@JoanBonJovi the website is dreadful! Rubbish search facility makes it impossible to filter stuff. Zara does great stuff but finding it in the 1000s of items is a nightmare. I can't go to real shops so get everything online and I simply despair at Zara . Otherstories is the same!

Also the OP doesn't give her age ( and why should she) but the brands she lists go well with the suggestions she has received.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 15/12/2019 09:33

Everywhere is pretty awful. I've had a couple of things from Jigsaw recently, but only in sales. The fabrics are nowhere near as good as they used to be though.

JoanBonJovi · 15/12/2019 09:35

That’s odd.

Tired of Cos/J Crew/Boden! Where do you shop?
JoanBonJovi · 15/12/2019 09:36

Also Zara gets new stuff in every Tuesday so all you do is login and look at new collections it’s easy

FashionFiend · 15/12/2019 09:48

Thanks everyone. I'm in my mid 40s. Grin I like clothes that are good quality and a little bit different. Even Cos clothes seem to be quite wrinkly on the hangers in store now. Their stuff used to be such good quality. Hobbs has gone a bit granny ish but the quality is still good. Can't buy shoes in there anymore, too old fashioned. Would love to find somewhere where you knew the clothes would last for years even if it was pricey. Me and Em looks good but it's expensive. Might try a purchase online though. Other Stories is awful polyester tat. Might try sezanne too. Thanks again for the advice.

Ive just got some things from Free People they only have a few shops though

HundredMilesAnHour · 15/12/2019 09:50

I quite like Arket for knitwear. Good quality, ethical and so far has lasted very well.

cocorico42 · 15/12/2019 12:03

Sezane clothes are fab. I love nearly every piece that I have ordered. The fabrics are usually high quality and their silk shirts have become a wardrobe staple.

FlibbertyGiblets · 15/12/2019 12:09

Sainsbury and Asda. Thumbs up. Not kidding. You gotta pick thru the jumble sale setout, natch.

PigeonofDoom · 15/12/2019 12:22

Comptoir des cotoniers

BikeRunSki · 15/12/2019 15:21

I keep looking at Arket. Havn’t bought anything yet, but I will.
