Are GHDs still the go to straighteners?

My old GHDs died recently, probably about 12 years old, but only used about 6 times a year.

I don't really want to pay £100 for something used so rarely, but also remember that in the past I had tried a few cheaper versions that turned out to burn/drag/snap hair etc and be a false economy.

Are there any cheaper brands that are as good/better? Thank you.

For anyone looking to buy cloud 9's from the cloud 9 site I have a couple of discount codes (£20 off orders over £99) valid between 01/01/20-30/06/20 that I won't use

I love the older style ghds and use them everyday. I always but mine second hand on Ebay for about 30 quid and am always happy with how well they work and how they last! Apparantely the older style are so much better than the newer and I hate using anything else

I think it’s telling how many premium salons do not use GHD straighteners in house too, surely if they were still the best of the best, they would still be the go to in salons, but they’re not. My salon uses cloud nine, label m, or other random brands and achieve perfect results

My GHD’s were a gift, i love the look of them and will continue to use them until they die. But they are the snaggiest bastards I’ve ever had. Never again. First and last experience of them.

Back to Remington or babyliss for me

Thank you all, I've taken a punt on the Amazon Kipozi ones at £25.

The reviews are glowing but seem a bit 'pitchy' so either they are amazingvir they have given away a lot of freebies in return for lengthy, glowing reviews.
